‘bout the time this song was on the radio, I re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy after almost two years back home in my small East Texas town. A girl I was dating at the time wrote that the song always reminded of her of me. Haven’t listened to it in years, brings up some memories back when my hair was darker and my heart was lighter.

From the days when it was Country and Western. Love it...

Now days the ‘country music’ station’s music is more like rock with a smidgeon of steel or fiddle. Even Rock- a-Billy sounds more country!

I had this LP that is pictured, because Drifter was a new hit, and awesome. I think it came out during 1980. The 1980s had THE best songs of country, and of light rock.

I love Sylvia and her incredible music. Back when country was Real Country music. Now you might as well call it pop music because it is not country. And may I say I love her voice and she is a gorgeous woman as well

To be fair this is ABSOLUTELY a pop crossover song as well....basically country instruments/vocals committed to a disco beat. Still good though.
