I also think tha seeing the glands of the penis in non sexual situations - is vulgar. The Greeks and Romans vere right. Sex is much better without the circumcision. Don't have to use any lubricants. No wonder that North American pharmacies have shelfs loaded with lubricants. We don't have that in Europe.

I knew this one guy that wasn't circumcised and fell in love with a religious Jewish girl. She insisted that he converts and circumcise. He did that and then mentioned to his male friends: "sex never felt the same after that". I feel for all of you guys that had this done - as you will never know any better. I'm from Poland where we don't do this horrible procedure. I've never met anyone who had any problems, because they weren"t cut. It really worked as a disadvantage for the Jews during the WWII, when it was very easy for the Germans to see who was Jewish and who wasn't.

Only a day ago so no comments yet. So here is one. Until consciousness (the hard problem) is understood atheism will persist. However, by understood is meant experienced as consciousness as fundamental cannot be understood by reason which is a product of consciousness and mind. What is not fundamental,, what is elemental emerges with quantum events and can be defined and measured. None of this applies to consciousness. Consciousness as fundamental, God as fundamental both all that exist. It would make sense to unit them as one. No reason to have two fundamentals, it would defy logic.

No one is making policy decisions that adversely impact millions and disenfranchise huge swathes of peoples based on what Shakespeare said about the other JC... No one is using Shakespeare's work to shoe horn prejudice and exploitation into government programs... Edit: Conservatives and fundamentalist the world over are using faith to divide and sow fear and suspicion. Dinesh's comparisons are peurile at best.

Another interpretation that other people give is that in verse 1 of Genesis the word "son of god" is hidden. "בראשית ברא אלוהים "In the word "bara" the letter Alef hides the word bar which means "son". בראשית בר אלוהים In the beginning the son of god. " The argument that is used is that the word bar is used in some parts of the Bible as "son."For example Psalms 2:12 and proverbs 31:2

What they are trying to do is part of a much bigger purpose and that is forcing the creation of a historical culture in a specific geographic area, whether as a whole or as more significant. What ultimately matters is the fact that regular people who are not specialists can’t make the difference, they will believe someone who is a Ph.D degree holder, the technical peer reviews and/or reputable magazines publishing is besides the point in this case.

Genesis is a post exile composite of semetic creation traditions going back to 2500 bc and more recient Greek cultural syncretism as they were Greek conquered at the time of composition. They were finding new ways to stay coherent as one people. They were staying current with new developments at that time. They were starting new schools of thought c. 200 bc with Pharisees and Saducees. Genesis is a concordance style work in first 11 chapters to refer to things in sound bite style to relate to their diaspora condition as a people. A people with a polytheistic past now monotheistic. Polycultural now monocultural. Polysect now monosect as much as possible.

I don't think the message of Genesis is that Adam and Eve were the first humans. Adam was the first to be created with the breath of life, Adam and Eve the first to fellowship with God and the first to eat from the tree of life. I don't understand why people try to argue that they were literally the first humans, other than the reference in 1 Cor 15, but here Paul is talking about the resurrection and isn't claiming that Adam was literally the first man. He's talking about the men Adam and Christ, and the first of these two, Adam, was given a natural body and this is what came first, and that the last Adam, Christ, a life-giving spirit. The first man was from the dust of the Earth, the second was of heaven. Genesis 2 follows the events of Genesis 1, and this resolves all the issues with respect to the origin of the wives of the children of Adam and Eve and other people that are referenced later.

@@apostatepodcast Thanks for the reply. I have the opposite experience. I was raised secular and grew up with no belief and by the time I was in my teens I felt life had no purpose (which it didn't). I wasted my life just working, chasing girls, going to the gym and hanging out with my friends. Thats all that life was and it was depressing. I became a Christian in my 20's and that hole in my spirit was filled. It's what I had been searching for my whole life. So I feel exactly the opposite. The difference is that my position offers hope, where atheism doesn't offer anything. Without God, life is meaningless so what does it matter if people are wasting their time. If religious people are happy, isn't that all you can ask for from a secular view point? I say all this with love.

My eye fell on the verse of YHWH just before the flood. Where is says in Genesis 6:7: "Let Me destruck the people, that I made ..."! Why should the creator of all things and people have to express "wich I made!' In my view this gives room to other species, that He didn't made ;-) So that YHWH only punished his own people, like rabbies also often explain: the old testament is about the His Story the story of YHWH with Is Ra El?!

Back in the 60s we used strips of lead as weights for fishing nets. They were folded over the rope and squeezed on. Now a pliers would have been handy for doing this. But mostly we used our hands, stones and our teeth! I would definitely look for teeth marks. The rope would have disintegrated but traces maybe found inside. Nets move with the tide and when the net is pulled in you get marks. We got really techy when hollow lead water pipes were around. We cut them in sections about 4 inches long and split each piece. Then you opened it just enough to get it on the rope. They were then closed. As for the argument that they were found far from water, well I've found bicycles, shopping trolleys and more in rivers and in the sea. Just my tuppence worth. 👍👍👍
