As a "child" of the original version - it captured the rage I felt during the late 60's and 70's. Now as an "old man", the rendition is a terrific lament underscoring the continued reality of the wars we (and others) continue to fight today. There is a time for war (even today) and a time for peace, but it feels that in the world today, those who control our fate do not appreciate the difference.

Other than Weird Al, can you name anyone famous for cover work?
@Music4MyBrain
@Music4MyBrain Жыл бұрын
@@audreymuzingo933 Actually, numerous big-name artists do cover versions all the time. It all comes down to how it is presented. Whitney Houston as an example never wrote any of her hits and one of her biggest hits ever "I will always love you" is a cover of a song written and originally performed by Dolly Parton. As a second example, Adele did the song "Hiding my Heart Away" which is a cover of a song originally on a Brandi Carlile album but written by a different individual. Adele and Whitney were already megastars and got away with not mentioning who did the original song while lesser-known artists will get attacked for it (or not having the money to fix the problem).

@@Music4MyBrain Of course, but that's not what I meant. I was talking about any famous artists who do ONLY covers. I thought that was obvious, as I mentioned Weird Al. The OP can't understand why this Puddles isn't more famous. I'm asserting that no matter how good a cover act is, they're not going to get famous if they don't write any of their own songs. And even Weird Al doesn't cover songs 'straight'; he changes the lyrics to make the songs humorous.
@TDOBrandano
@TDOBrandano Жыл бұрын
@@audreymuzingo933 To be fair, Weird Al does parodies more than covers. Off the top of my head I can think of only one relatively known band specializing in covers, and that is Novelle Vague. However there's a few cover songs that have become way more well known than the original, like Soft Cell's version of Gloria Jones's Tainted Love, Gary Jules's cover of Tear for Fear's Mad World, or Johhny Cage's cover of NIN's Hurt.

This man. There was this beautiful, creative, witty woman who saved my roommate from her own horrible depression. Made her feel beautiful, creative, and witty. Celebrated her. She was my roommate's best friend and there was a deep love. Very shortly, the woman was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She knew what treatment would do to her it would ravage her, make her sicker, snd yet she was still going to die from the cancer. So she chose to go naturslly. My roomie was devastated. I reached out to Puddles and asked if there was ANY way he could fond time to do a small show for our Jeni. We all had some connection to music and art and could pitch in efforts to accommodate Puddles. I didn't hear back, but i assume i hsd gone the wrong avenue to reach him. I knew that he was touring locally, but he had only one day off for like weeks of his hard work. Then i found out Jeni was having a going away party for herself, and Puddles was going to perform. I wasn't invited. She didn't like me because of some misunderstandings I'd created. But all i care about is that SOMEONE got to him, and this wonderful man gave this tremendous woman her last wish. It's on youtube. Andvwhen my roomie and i went to see him a couple of years ago, we thsnked him. And in his stage show, during a special song, there was Jeni's face on a big screen behind him. Thank you Puddles. And this cover is, in my opinion, a MASTERPIECE. A true tribute to the men who created it, and to the men and women who lost their lives in wars like Vietnam, which was a huge source of anger and sadness at the time. It's a timeless piece. The lyrics and sonic rage absolutely expressed verbatim what my young heart felt about the evil of war, and i was one of MANY. Puddles, your choice of chords and tone, your perfect voice, and your solid delivery are everything this message needed. Outlive me, k? ♡

I’ve listened to this song countless times in my misguided youth. But, like re-reading the Bible, every time different meanings are exposed to our consciousness. This rendition has done this for me and it makes me sad that we’re stuck following these unworthy “War Pigs” leaders. I hope all is good with Puddles and am thankful for him sharing his incredible talent. Thank you again for putting yourself out there for scrutiny to bring your message to me and others.

I will admit to some trepidation upon seeing the cover song... there are some things that are best as they are.... but this.... THIS is a worthy cover! The brooding bombastic power was there, the howling lament was spot on, the whole arrangement fit well together and truly paid tribute with a unique twist to a timeless song... I thoroughly enjoyed it and this will be playing through my head for days! Congratulations on a fantastic and poignant performance!! Glad to hear your wonderful voice again!

I think this may Puddle's best video yet. I am proud to say I discovered him very early, actually wearing his T-shirt as I type. Puddles is showing the way for future artists on how to make an impact on your audience. He arrived on scene out of the blue and really changed the way I view music. He's the most authentic performer I have ever found. It's truly high grade entertaiment, a real talent and joy to watch and listen to.
