Ha! That’s a coincidence - I came to the same conclusion this morning and impromptu set up our KZbin channel just a couple of hours before you posted this. We’ve been on Vimeo for a while, but had never got round to KZbin. But decided it would be great to get more eyeballs on content.

For someone like me who’s got next to no followers at all, and has only been giving this KZbin thing a go for a couple of months, I can already categorically say that it’s made such a difference to my work and myself as a business/brand. I’ve had lots of exciting brands approach me already about working with them and it’s been so good to network with people across the world who are drawn to the same stuff, I can only imagine what that’s like at your kinda level and it’s what motivates me to keep going with it. Also, Blaine and Carlo’s channels are two of the best channels I’ve found so far and has been so so useful!! (Pack’s look sick too btw)

@ 8:00 Couldn't agree more! A viewer left a comment on one of my KZbin videos this week saying I didn't know what I was talking about, because they were an award-winning documentary filmmaker and I wasn't... Kind of caught me off-guard, but really opened my eyes to how some people still view KZbin.

I completely agree. I have a BUNCH of friends in Hollywood that struggle to make it there. Everyone went on strike and are trying to got find ways to get taken advantage of again. It takes time to grow a channel, and it's hard to start but when you start it's a lovely journey that also pushes you to learn on a daily basis. Am happy I started creating content and am happy that I made it to 380 subscribers looking back from the day I started when I only had 0 subscribers, one day I was walking on the roadside here in Uganda and some student stopped me and told me he watches my videos on KZbin 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That experience has never left me. Thank you Matti for this

I’ve been thinking about this too. KZbin seems like a great place to show how and why you do what you do- the journey. But the finished, polish result, or the fruit that falls from the tree, for filmmakers at least, deserves a better presentation than KZbin provides. I think people, myself included, are more than happy to buy a ticket or rent/buy a film on another platform whose journey they’ve kind of been a part of since the beginning.
@mattih Жыл бұрын
Yea that’s true but also would you rather have 100 people see your video or 10,000? And how much does quality matter there. Interesting question to ask. I think big project like a feature still aren’t well suited for KZbin but bts, lessons learned, test shoots etc etc are so good for KZbin.
@tylerterryYT Жыл бұрын
@@mattih Totally agree. The other thing is if your channel is all about the process and then when you post a “finished project,” it seems ironically (and logically?) that the audience just isn’t as interested in that 😅 as in less views than a ridiculous (but irresistible) Arri vs iPhone comparison. KZbin has been a fascinating experiment in interest and entertainment preferences.
@katlis Жыл бұрын
@@tylerterryYT Yea when I'm on KZbin, I'm not looking to watch a finished feature/short with popcorn. I'm just casually browsing to see if there's any new tricks I can learn and keep up to speed on the latest tech. It's basically a modern version of the magazines that shared cinema tips & stories.

ok hear me out... an Arri camera. Crazy lens. Practical lights setup. Key lights. Probably a sound blanket somewhere... holds the mic for authenticity... Boom the mic Matti. Please. End the trend. I blame Danny Gevirts for this but it's bigger than him now. Boom the mic. I know you have mic tape and you could have taped it to your chest. All this time and effort into setup, filming, editing, color luts. Time to let it go. Boom it. Resist the temptation. I promise the video will be 10X better. Guarantee you will get 20X more views and 30X more ad revenue. You might even get more from your sponsors. At least 50X. Do it Matti. Put the mic where it belongs.Ok rant over. Ok rant over =)
