Very nice tutorial. I’m going to make this today and I’m planning on adding embroidery on it. My husband will be so happy when he finds out that I’m finally using the embroidery machine that he bought me last Christmas. Lol!

Love the main quilt blocks. Love the thin black border. Unless you need it bigger, I would leave it there. The zebra, at least as it's current size doesn't work for me.

Why don't you contact the International Quilters for your questions. I am sure they will be able to answer your questions.

You can make pot holders for that quilted strip.

I love the way you produce the blocks, but you never alow yourself to randomly choose pieces. You always go back to your own picks.😢

Thank you so much! An elderly lady just gave me quilting supples as she was leaving her home. I received a garbage bag loaded with salvages amongst beautiful batiks and unfinished quilt blocks. I love this design! Yours is the first video on my search for selvage sewing projects! p.S. I’ve seen for 50 years and NEVER saved a selvage! SMH!

If you place another piece of double sided adhesive and lay down a sheer voile over the top and iron, you’ll have a workable fabric that can be used for various projects. You could even use water soluble film. Mist over where you want fabric scraps, when layer is complete, add another layer of soluble fabric and free motion embroidery over the surface. When you’ve sewn all over the pieces, rinse your soluble film away. Lay the fabric over a bowl, mould around a bottle etc. When it’s dry it will hold the shape. I then use dilute modge podge and paint all over. It strengthens the shape of your piece. You can sew beads etc on it and continue to build up layers. Just an idea I wanted to share. I love making sculptures from sari yarn s, fabric scraps and fibres.

You are being too hard on yourself. This is such an awesome way to use up my scraps. The zebra print works great. I can see this as a colorful baby quilt. Thank you for sharing.

I just wanted to let you know I have been binge watching your quilt videos since I got out of the hospital on July 10th, 2024 after back surgery! I LOVE THEM!!! I love how you talk through them and reason out your fabric choices, quilt block choices, etc. I haven't quilted in a few years since my mom passed in 2017. Since she was my tutor, fabric coordinator, and inspiration, I lost interest completely in the craft until about 1 month before surgery where I decided to finish a quilt we started years ago. I started watching quilting videos to jump start my creativity. I watched several of your videos one evening and binge watched them on KZbin. I've been hooked for the last week! I've listened to your videos on what made you choose the fabric you did on fabric shopping trips. I just finished the one where you went to a house/quilt barn and what choices you made. I would have never made the choices you did, but like my mom, your explanations made sense and I am anxious to take another look at my 'stash' to see what new patterns I could put together. Unfortunately I have to wait a while for recovery to sit down to quilt again. But your videos are filling my need to learn more. Thanks SO MUCH for the inspiration and video lessons!!!

Number one I love Darlene as well. Also I saw years ago on our PBS television station where a lady would slow down little pieces and bits, then put strings all over it and top it with tulle. Then she would turn it into doll clothes. She made handmade dolls with fabric. It was a really cool episode. Can’t even think of what it was called now. But there’s some more ideas for you or you could make mug rugs and pot holders out of them.
