If all those franchises were to time travel as Legends of Tomorrow, it would be an epic and unpredictable adventure! Imagine the likes of John Cena, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Roman Reigns from WWE, alongside Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey from UFC, joining forces with Dominic Toretto's crew from Fast & Furious, the G.I. Joe team, Autobots from Transformers, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, the ThunderCats, Street Fighter's Ryu and Ken, and Tekken's Jin and Kazuya, all traveling through time and space as a team of legends! Together, they would face various challenges and villains throughout history, combining their unique skills and strengths to protect the timestream and save the world from destruction. It would be an unforgettable and action-packed journey, full of unexpected alliances, thrilling battles, and heart-stopping twists!

Thank you so much you hit the nail right on the head. I am a 68 year old woman and I was brought up with two younger brothers who were Superman mad. It’s not really been my scene - certainly since Christopher Reece in the films. I caught this series by accident and was going to turn it off when I realised what it was about but I was intrigued by the setting and this Superman felt so much more grown up. I love the way the episodes spin a weave of real-life through, among the feats Superman faces and lets face it they are feats not just a lot of heroics. It’s very cleverly written and the actors are amazing. Tyler and Bitsie are so convincing as are the boys. It’s a version of Superman that is reminiscent of the comics my brothers had but has allowed Clark to mature and take us on that journey with him. The only downside is that next season, Season 4, is to be their last. The writers didn’t want it to end and neither did the actors but it seems the powers that be didn’t want to have another Superman around (even tho it’s on the small screen) when the new Superman film is released next year. I am absolutely gutted and also angry that someone could make such decisions for me, implying that I would be confused by the two iterations being played at the same time. Well guess what, as a result I will NOT be watching the new film and I hopefully can get the 4th season of S&L on DVD to add to my collection and I can watch the whole thing again. So if there are more people like me, then the plan backfired.

Funnily enough Man of Steel's narrative would be a perfect fit for Supergirl. She is Kara Zor-El at heart as she was raised as a Kryptonian first and had to learn to pretend to be human to fit in on Earth. She has perfect reason to feel like an outsider while being bound to protect the world as that is what a daughter of the house of El should do.

The beauty of Harley is that she started out as what was supposed to be a one-off villain sidekick. Also, Harley's actually coming back as a solo act in the upcoming "Batman: Caped Crusader" with a very different costume, demeanor, cultural identity, and even modus operandi. Indeed, the Joker won't even show up in the first season. She'll be returning to her roots as a psychiatrist, serving as a shrink for Gotham's elite, but using the information she gets from them as a tool to serve her own purposes. She'll also be leaning more into "jester" rather than "clown", in that court jesters were the only people who could get away with insulting medieval royalty consequence-free. Apparently she'll also be Asian-American, but it sounds like it will just be an incidental thing.

Having watched a big chunk of the show, one moment that distinctively stands out to me is where Clark is really down in the dumps and not sure what he's supposed to do or how he can do it, Lois tells him, "You're Superman. Go be Superman." And you know what that was for? Not to punch anybody, fight anybody. No, it was so that he would go out and inspire people, be a point of comfort for the people of Smallville. THAT'S who Superman. Not an edgelord who fights alien threats, no, but a symbol of peace and hope. Of optimism, and a figure that inspires positivity.

Who could blame british tv execs for not expecting Americans (and others) to need to see many episodes with the same comedians for us to get to know any of them. The show probably didnt imagine going beyond british shores. For all but the first 2-3 seasons i have recognized 0-1 contestants. I would have enjoyed individual episodes but i wouldnt wait for the Friday episode release of randos doing rando things. Now-even knowing 0 contestants at the start-by episode 3-4 i want to see these people again. I can think of 3 contestants total who just didnt work from my perspective. Thats a helluva a success rate.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier remains my favorite MCU movie! I will never forget this week of Marvel Entertainment! As an AOS fan, Episode Sixer is what I call myself, it was a glorious time to be a MCU fan! Winter Soldier alone was so amazing but, watching the fallout on the small screen and on a slightly more intimate level was just - mind blowing!

Well said! That AOS tie-in is still one of the best film/TV tie-ins I can remember seeing, as you say watching everything play out on a more intimate level as well as the bigger scale big screen side of it was amazing, that's when the show really started cooking.

I knew something was up when the thumbnails changed. Great having you back Ross! To this day I keep coming back to your Legends of Tomorrow video essays. I really hope you'll make a third one now that the show is sadly over. You have to cover seasons 6 and 7 and the show's rich history in general. That would be perfect. Your writing is incredible, always in depth. Now I'll press play to this essay. Really curious to hear your MCU opinions.

Every time I watch one of these, KZbin examinations of Superman and Lois, I start to cry - happy tears! I have lived my entire life with Lois Lane is my central hero, and I feel so gratified that others love her as well. Bitsy Tulloch is perfect in that role and Tyler Hoechlin is equally perfect as Clark. And the writers! It’s so clear that they know exactly who they are writing about. Sometimes you have to wonder how some of our well loved superheroes or being portrayed. Not in this show. I’m also glad beyond description that there is no sort of rivalry between Lois and Lana. When I heard that Lana would be part of the show, I was worried they were going to make it some sort of soap opera. So happy that did not happen. At last, a Lana I can like!

Prime Legends (seasons 2 and 3) is a great mix of Kingdom Hearts and Guardians Of the Galaxy. Embracing the corny and cheesy parts with pride. A lot of heart. A cast of characters you slowly get invested in. A story and tone that is all over the place. And the ability to out of the blue hit you with an emotional suckerpunch that hits way harder than you would ever believe it could.

Highly recommend the novel Star Wars Bloodline by Claudia Gray. It's a Leia political thriller that sets up the factions of the sequel era right before The Force Awakens. It's some of the most interesting political writing in all of Star Wars.

I really like what you said sir. Superman growing up in a rural area in the 21st century or the late 20th Century and being shown as a rural dad with a city bred wife who is indeed self-sufficient. I was raised in a rural area and was not born in the same area but in a small city hospital which is now considered a bedroom community for Charlotte, NC. It is Salisbury, NC and has two colleges one of which is an HBCU and the other a PWI. Both are church schools but continue to work together, /my mom went to the HBCU and my dad graduated from an all-black high school two blocks from the same HBCU that she graduated from Both were rural kids and both were from families who were all about healthcare and education. They married each other and raised me and my brothers. We did well after college but when both parents got sick, we banded together and took care of them until they passed. Nothing wrong with being raised in a rural area but yes Rural America is dying, and rural school systems are falling behind with career choices being limited. We left/commuted and worked here in NC, up north and in my oldest brother's case in Europe. I love the way that this version of the Superman and Lois love story was redone and also the family dynamics that are being explored. Twins run in my mom's family, so I get it. And it is also refreshing to see just how a superhero married to a non-super woman works out and the results sort of remind me of my folks. My dad was a vet in WWII and my mom was a teacher. They married late, worked, took care of their folks and had us later on. I love this series.

You might be right. But the original films had better practical effects which made it feel more immersive. The original stories also had a core story that was if not better written more enjoyable and felt at least for me less heavy handed. I just tune out star wars these days because the characters had played out and the new ones felt like there were no progression or plot arcs they were these flat facsimiles used to advance a rather boring message. oh also edit the editing and acting was also probably superior
