Great video guys but you attached the wooden slats with the netting the wrong way up. The way you have it the rope, netting and fencing nails will be pushed along the sand and will wear very quickly. If you turn it over the wood will be on the sand and will take all the wear instead of the other way around. A 4’ piece of wood is cheaper to replace than all the other stuff.

Only thing is when you bang on it to drive it down, the flanged area will break. I left mine alone and it works great.

Yeah just cut a notch and file/sand all burred edges on the top of the spike smooth. The reel support arm will fit nice and not move around. Also if you're pounding the spike into dense sand with a dead blow hammer, use a cut piece of 5/8" plywood as a buffer. 12" × 6 " × 5/8"

Is that fish fit for human consumption?, I understand the spillway is some nasty toxic water.

Wow just seeing this out of the box kzbin.infoUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

As soon as you catch them, you need to bleed them. Cut the tail off and put them on a stringer to bleed out. I learned the hard way what happens when you cook gafftop without bleeding them first.

Not sure what part of Texas you’re in.. but I use lighter rods. Makes for a good fight and you feel the lightest tugs. Just preference though. I’ve tackled a 30” red on the lightest rods I own too so no need for those huge thick ones imo
