I live in Surrey. There was a couple B&E’s near my house and B&Es still seem to be common, but homicide rates have dropped in the city. I live in Guildford, which is the 3rd most crime-ridden neighbourhoods (behind Newton and Whalley.) Gangs are still prominent in the city but not in concerning amounts, and there is even a term for a Surrey gangster, a Surrey jack. I think crime has been generally decreasing in the city, I think due to David Eby’s policies.

Curious that the CSI rates were the highest amongst towns/cities in Western Canada, especially in British Columbia.In addition, these towns/cities were mostly in remote regions. Did the people doing the statistics figure out why this is so?

Combine all the crime in all the small towns in Canada in a year and it will be outmatched by one days crimes in Detroit or Chicago.

I think crime is directly linked to cost of living. We are taxed to death which means people have much less money to spend on ...living. So some turn to crime and some turn to drugs.

As an Indigenous person from Canada, I can honestly admit that we are almost the equivalent of African Americans in the US in terms of crimes, reservations here are almost worse than ghettos in the states it hurts when I hear of our own people killing eachother, (sometimes even family memebers killing family memebers) over drug dealing, I dont know why we reapeat this cycle over here in Canada

I feel like property crime in a small town would drop off the map if property owners could shoot intruders. Also i don't think i agree with big cities because "safer" i lived in Langley and I've been to east Hastings in Vancouver. East Hastings is a nightmare, I just think its a nightmare that is given up on. Also Langley was felt fine until the Olympics when the RCMP started driving the big city crack heads out to us.
@AJMSTUDIOSvideo
@AJMSTUDIOSvideo 2 күн бұрын
What you said about the RCMP moving people from Vancouver to outlying areas before the Olympics seems to be a sentiment a lot of people say. I would be curious if numbers existed (which they don't) how many they moved out. Because you are right, Metro Vancouver has seen crime increase over the years.

I’d say everything you said about London except for gangs is still happening. And it’s just getting worse. Never walk down Dundas street without caution. My dad has a comic book store he likes on that street. He used to take me with him. But the homeless drugged people have gotten so bad that he doesn’t even bother taking me anymore. I also like watching trains in London, but there are always homeless people there. The ones with drugs. That’s why I always watch trains outside of London now. You did a pretty good job explaining London.

Very sad. We can do better as a country. I believe that we care about everyone. We have to help people get off drugs and alcohol, and get them help to live a better life. I for one will volunteer to help. Plus so many not getting the treatment they need. What do you want,,? Someone who breaks into your home, or someone that mows your grass? Just saying. There are ways.

Interesting, but not surprising correlation. All these high csi value towns, often tend to have lower property values. Though, this is not always the case. At a 1st glance, some of these towns might seem a good place to escape canada's permanent housing crisis, Until you look at the towns CSI score. However, I would also point out, some of these towns will have high CSI scores AND rather in a rather puzzling turn, the town will be, thanks to permanent housing crisis, stupidly high real estate costs. For example, places like prince george, nanaimo, kamloops etc, are not cheap places to live. So in canada its either cheap and crime ridden, or expensive and crime ridden. GG canada.....

I enjoyed this video but the list is clearly skewed by tonnage giving precedence to places that handle bulk cargo. I wonder how different the list would be if ordered by value of commodity rather than simply tonnage. Thanks for a great video!
@AJMSTUDIOSvideo
@AJMSTUDIOSvideo 3 күн бұрын
I truly appreciate the comment. The reason for this specific metric I used was it was difficult to find commodity values and other metrics for all ports in Canada. Thankfully all ports did provide the tonnage metric I used. I figured that would be the most reliable for a video instead of possibly leaving other ports out simply because I couldn't find the metric. Thanks for the great comment!
