Sir,partition has been a done deal since 1947 ,77 years ago Prof Jalal and her fans now should move on since partition can not.be undone. At present it is irrelevant who was the hero and who was the villain. More than Mr Nehru ,the center player has been Mr Jinnah, a hero in Pakistan, and a villain in india.

Jinnah/Muslim League had accepted Cabinets Mission Plan, but Nehru/Congress rejected the Plan which led to partition of India and emergence of Pakistan.So historically it is incorrect to say that Jinnah or Muslim League was responsible for partition of India.

Sir,the question you should ask is whether a centuries old simmering communal conflicts between hindus and muslims were resolved in any way. Rehashing history time and again is a useless exercise.
@AshokGupta-oq6hs2 күн бұрын
Sir,the Lahore resolution and idea of Pakistan were good starting point to resolve centuries old simmering communal situation,but was never carried towards an ultimate conclusion. Since Mr Jinnah made no attempt to transfer entire indian muslim population to Pakistan. Instead it opened a new pandora box resulting in continual wars and state sponsored terrorist activities.
@AshokGupta-oq6hs2 күн бұрын
Sir,Mr Jinnah was quite clear about his objective and has clearly and unambiguously laid out the reasons behind his objective. Congress under the spell of Mahatma Gandhi never fully understood Mr Jinnah and was dilly dallying all the time. Surprisingly and tragically none of the 2 sides even thought of coordinated systematic transfer of population from either sides and were busy celebrating the emergence of 2 countries out of 1 country.

Sirs,state,nationalism,and islam can be grouped under 2 heads. State+Nationalism vs islam Islam has no concept of either state or nationalism. Two terms of islam which comes closest to state and nationalism are: caliphate and ummah. Both these terms negate the concept of state as well as nationalism.

Are you saying Jinnah wanted a Muslim majority pakistan INSIDE a federation of India ? That would have been catastrophic because this meant the country would have been internally divided on basis of religion and a lingering source of conflict and a long term civil war . With the meddlesome Muslim league out of India , the Indian leaders could focus on nation building and establishment of Democracy . While Jinnah and the Muslim league had no idea or plans for running a totally independent country and the result is that pakistan is still struggling to come together as a nation with No government ever completing a full term .
@sijut15155 күн бұрын
If congress accepts the cabinet plan then India cannot function as one nation one people. Jinnah himself knows this truth, that it is because when he created Pakistan he rejected the cabinet plan and follow Indian function. Moreover, congress also knws that Muslim league is not capable of running a government so a power-sharing is disaster. Congress vision proved correct when Pakistani people and army removed the Muslim league. Another factor is that partition of India suggested by jinnah and Muslim league at first. Many of jinnah's speeches also states that and people voted for him. Finally, u said congress forced partition? right. This idea caters to many constituencies - it strokes the conceit that Pakistan was an amputation of Mother India; it appeals to locals who believe separation a bad business from the beginning; and it denies Jinnah any responsibility for Partition. But can u explain this statement of jinnah "It would be a great mistake to be carried away by Congress propaganda that the Pakistan demand was put forward as a counter for bargaining.”

From this video, it appears clear that the man fit for a stage actor in London in fact should had landed in a circus winning a captivated audience with his acrobatic skills. "Monkey-like skills for monkey like amazement." Mental illness takes an advance form if the patient is devoid of histories----yes, in plural. He was, to his daughter's regret, had been too absorbed in devouring the biography of a Turk. American political experience flew over without hitting his empty head. Enough. If a party or a person supports the colonial power against it's own countrymen, I assume such people across the globe are called traitors or Gaddars, that was exactly the role of Jinnah and the Muslim League. Why do you think Pakistan is suffering or why it will suffer till it lasts? The reason is because it's foundation has been laid on Gaddari.
@thealiwarsi21 күн бұрын
Jinnah and Muslim League supported the war effort in WW-2 on the same grounds that Gandhi and Congress did in WW-1. Were they also traitors?

jinnah was just an islamist & if his idea of separation was so great why didn't all muslims follow him to phakistan. At least India would have had some peace.
@thealiwarsi21 күн бұрын
The reason why India hasn't had peace is that it has been adamant it wants to keep the Kashmiri Muslims who wanted to join Pakistan from joining Pakistan. If you're so irked by Muslim presence in India, get your effin' troops out of the valley. And even if that doesn't bring peace, look inwards.

Ali Jinnah conceived the idea of a separate state for the Moslems as early as the 1930s. The British administration and M. Gandhi did not want a partition at all, and offered a Moslem majority Government to Ali Jinnah on the upcoming independence. Nehru did not see eye to eye with Ali Jinnah and ultimately INC voted against that concession in 1947. Ali Jinnah saw his beloved Pakistan become a reality, but would be dead a year later. It is so boring to hear Indians today to blame partition solely on the British. It is such an important part of their modern history.
@thealiwarsi21 күн бұрын
Modern Indians also blame it on Nehru. And rightly so. But Nehru wanted complete power. He didn't want a coalition govt in 1937. He wanted a single party rule. Look where Congress stands today. He didn't want powerful autonomous units in states. He didn't want Muslims to have majority states to form a bloc to safeguard their interests at the Centre. And when he didn't get what he wanted, he decided to dismember the country instead of relenting. He didn't want to give Muslims any guarantees, maybe because he didn't know extremists like BJP will someday become so powerful in India, but he was an idiot to not see that coming. Lastly, the British rightly get blamed for the Partition. They don't deserve any better.

The Lucknow pact virtually gave absolute political rights to muslims in Muslim majority areas.The largest party forms the government; what are you blaming Congress for? If ML did not get enough seats and Congress was in a position to form by itself, why should they be accommodated?
@thealiwarsi20 күн бұрын
@@maheshbayya3092 I'm not even talking about the majority provinces. ML gave Congress a battering in 1937 elections in all minority provinces. WHICH EFFECTIVELY MEANS THAT MUSLIMS SIDED WITH APML AND NOT CONGRESS. Also, Congress didn't win in Muslim majority provinces either apart from NWFP where it was actually Bacha Khan who won, not Congress directly. No Congress Muslim won in Sindh, Punjab, Bengal, Orissa, United Provinces, Central Provinces, Bombay and Assam. Most of the 26 seats the Congress captured were in NWFP, Madras and Bihar. That's why Congress should've formed the alliance. Also, you don't know much about Lucknow Pact so better not comment on it. It reduced, not increased, the number of seats for Muslims in the majority provinces. Majority provinces' non APML Muslim leaders resented Jinnah for it. Read something before coming up with 'expert' opinions.

“Populism.” By 1977, the remaining Pakistan of Jinnah at last laid to rest. “Populism.” Drunk on power, he kept Islam as one of the pillars of constitution. With the question of Ahmadi, the populist, in tune with popular passion, ended up branding the community as non-Muslim. He did it against his own convictions. “You get what you deserve.” A shameful end. Death by hanging.
