I've tried using different instrument cables, different line inputs on my interface, but am not getting any signal from the unbalanced IR out - however, when I use a mic cable on IR out to the instrument input 1 on my interface, I can hear signal. Any idea on how best to troubleshoot this or where I'm going wrong?

I’m so confused. I want to run a wet dry wet. So do I need a power station for the dry, a 2/50/2 for the wet, a zmac for the Cabinets, and a Goodwood interfacer?

Great video!Am I hearing right? The negative feedback in your hiwatt is on the 4ohm tap? I read in the schematics 16 ohm tap, but less NF could help for a less hard sound? Thank You

The blocking distortion of the 2-holers can sound really cool if you don't push it too far (and only use the bright channel). One clear example is the intro to "Limelight" by Rush. Also, take a listen to "Mouth Breather" by the Jesus Lizard for a less subtle implementation.

general comment about the batting (or insulation) inside of cabinets: in a sealed-box cabinet, in addition to absorbing standing waves, the batting also increases the effective acoustic volume of the box (at lower frequencies, anyway, which coincidentally is where box size matters). in a world where "oversized" cabinets exist to increase acoustic compliance and lower the speaker resonance frequency, increasing effective box volume without actually increasing the physical dimensions could be considered a boon in some scenarios. in practice you can easily achieve up to around 20% increase in effective box volume by using fiberglass batting. Leach presents some useful equations for estimating the effective box volume of a completely or partially batted cabinet along with the effective density of the medium inside the box, for anybody interested. that said, I totally resonate (no pun intended) with the "that's not rock n roll" argument. flat frequency response is not the goal of a guitar speaker. and my (v1) D412 and (newer) FB412 sound perfect to me anyway.

I would like to ask you one question. I use a new Chinese variac on my Marshall JTM45 and my Ceriatone HRM 50 watt amps. I have heard that you cannot run a guitar amp for a long time on one of these Chinese variacs. Is this true that these variacs maybe too risky to use. So far I have only run the variac for usually an hour with amps rebiased at 115 volts or 118. Just wondering. I see you use the Chinese made variacs. I assume they're safe on your amp.
@FryetteAmps
@FryetteAmps 23 күн бұрын
Ideally, the variac you use should be rated at twice the power useage of the amp measured from the wall outlet. That info is usually listed on the back of the amp. You'll normally see something like "117V, 300W" on the back near the outlet. But since that rating is the absolute maximum the amp will draw, and that will be a lot less in actual practice when you use a variac, it is safe to use something like a 500W - sometimes stated 500VA - variac. Where it was made is these days pretty irrelevant. A variac rated at 1000VA will simply run a little cooler.

Hi, I just got a Fryette power station yesterday, but I found two problems :1. When I use fx loop, I can hear effect pedal sound in the cab, but I can not hear the effect pedal sound in the audio recording interface (both Line out only guitar sound, no effect), 2. I can not install any IR loader in my GarageBand (I try Lancaster PULSE)…. How to solve the problems? thank you

Great explanations! One question I still have on the line out of the power station is whether it is ok to run the line out to effects pedals such as a Boss SDE 3000 EVH. It appears to be a line level signal which may not be appropriate for pedals? Thank you!

What you hear on Van Halen I follows this principle; i.e. early on, Eddie was frustrated by the river of mud he was getting from running the few effects he had in front of his 100 Watt Plexi. So his "variacked" Marshall head was fed a dummy load and a signal was run from the Marshall through his pedals to a Mosfet poweramp before being fed into his Greenback/JBL combination speaker boxes. It not only got rid of the mud but gave him much better control over his volume level.

Just saying: a rackmount 2x power station setup would be totally worthwhile. Make it 2x 50 instead of 2 x 100 or charge more for the option. Basically while a stereo rig would obviously not fit in the enclosure of the PS-100, it probably would fit well into the enclosure of the Fryette Two/Ninety/Two power amp. And it would be awesome and worth the money. Personally I have a tube pedal preamp rig that I run into Mesa Boogie 50/50 power amp. It sounds awesome but the volume is punishing. Pedal preamps are taking over the market, making stereo signal chains more accessible/desirable, and Fryette is uniquely positioned to give players the option to have full tube signal chains at whatever volume they need. The only comparable option I've been able to find so far would be to buy two PS-2's. Why buy two of them and take up extra rackspace?
