As somebody who's a full-time rideshare driver driving Uber and Lyft. I have owned a Gen 2 PS4 doing it. I put about 90,000 mi on it myself and it was a great car. They do have their quirks and some issues. Mine had an issue where it would pop up random check engine lights mainly to do with can bus communication errors. Sometimes you could reset it and go. You know a thousand miles or so before another check engine light would come on or sometimes you'd reset it and you'd have a check engine light again in 2 mi. But it was a great little car and I can tell you talking from experience just driving the car. Normally you can expect to get somewhere between 43 miles per gallon and 49 miles per gallon and occasionally you might be in that situation where you're forced to do some slightly less aggressive. Be even more gentle with the car and you can reach fuel economies of up to 56 miles per gallon for your actual fuel economy in that car The Priuses are great little cars including the Gen 2s. The thing is right now I probably would not own another Gen 2 Prius because of the age limit that I am dealing with for cars because of being a rideshare driver giving passenger rides and as of January 1st 2025 none of the gen2s will be qualified rideshare cars anymore for giving passenger rides like I do in my state. Only gen 3 and newer Priuses will be within the 15-year age limit. Gen 2 was 2004 to 2009. Gen 3 is 2010 to 2015. Gen 4 is 2016 to 2022 and right now currently in 2024. Gen 5 is 2023 and upwards at the moment considering there is no announcement for the release of a gen 6 Toyota Prius yet I have also owned a gen 3 Toyota Prius and put over a quarter million miles on that myself driving it to over 440,000 mi. And yes that one did need a head gasket replacement and a battery replacement and just like my Gen 2 once it got over. 200,000 mi. It did need a water pump and I'm currently driving a Gen 4 Prius with nearly 71,000 mi on it. I got lucky getting it low miles. I bought my Gen 2 with 180,000 mi on it and my gen 3 with 188,000 mi on it and I paid just as much for my current Gen 4 with 65,000 mi on it as I paid for both of my previous Priuses and the cost of repairs that are not routine maintenance stuff combined but they are good cars in the sense that if I could get one for a decent price and I was just looking for something. As a runaround daily driver car, I would definitely think about getting another one if it was just a second car for me and I wasn't intending on using it for doing rideshare unless it was deliveries which most delivery services do not have an age limit. You could take a Ford model. T. A car that stopped production nearly a century ago and and still use that for doing deliveries since most delivery services don't care how old your car is One thing that I did like about my Gen 2 Prius that was nice. Is all of the 12 volt sockets in the car are on a 15 amp fuse so you can buy those little 12-volt plug-in resistive heaters and use those which is something that I did in my car. When I would sit and wait at the airport in the winter I would plug in my little 12-volt resistive heater and it would help to keep the cab of the car comfortable for a longer period of time but basically you would sit there and you would wait for your spot in the line to go get a passenger at the airport. That's how it works at my airport Denver international airport and I would run my climate control in pulses. Usually I could wait until the battery got low enough on my Gen 2 Prius with a 12-volt plug-in resistive heater because that would put a decent draw on the battery as well that once the gasoline engine would kick on I would turn up the temperature on the climate control 3. To 5° warmer than I would normally have it set. If I was going to be driving the car around which if I was going to be driving the car around I would just leave the climate control on and then once the gasoline engine would kick on to run generator mode to charge the battery I would turn the climate control back on and let it quickly heat the cab of a car back up and put a decent chunk of charge back on the battery and do that method for helping me to save a little bit of gas while sitting there waiting at the airport for me to be the driver to get the next ride. But yes, the Gen 2 Priuses are a very good little cars and the only two issues I ever had with my Gen 2 that were really major issues were at 200 and some odd,000. Mi can't quite remember exactly how many miles the engine was an oil burner and I did have to put a new catalytic converter on it to get the check engine light to go out. But otherwise it ran fine even with the check engine light for a catalytic converter and then I had to replace the water pump on it once. But otherwise it was generally a good reliable running little car except for the occasional can bus communication errors. Which one time did cause my 2007 Prius to think that there was an engine fault and to shut down the engine. Luckily there was enough charge in the 12 volt battery and enough charge left and the hybrid battery back and I was carrying a scan tool with me. At the time that I took the scan tool I went in there. I scanned it. I reset the check engine lights that seem to do the trick in resetting all the check engine lights including the red triangle of death and I pushed the power button on the car and it was a great relief when the gasoline engine came back on and then continued to run cuz the hybrid battery was super depleted and at that point I did need to drive somewhere. I believe that was caused by the engine thinking it was too hot because it was winter at the time. Really cold and snowing out and I had temperature turned up way high on the car to help keep the windshield defrosted and ice free. But other than that one individual instance and the water pump going out the car was essentially a completely and utterly reliable car. Even when I had a PO420 code for the catalytic converter the car still ran fine. It just had a check engine light and I had to replace the Cadillac converter for around $700 at that time in order to get the check engine light to go away in order to make sure that I could renew the registration on the car. But if I didn't have to renew the registration on the car, I probably never would have replaced the catalytic converter cuz it never ran bad even with that check engine light on. But they are good little cars and I would definitely own another one again. I did not replace the hybrid battery in that one but I did replace the hybrid battery in my gen 3 and it was not expensive. Only about two grand or so with the extended warranty and a replacement 12 volt battery at an extra $250 before tax to have them replace the hybrid battery. If I did not get the extended warranty which I should not have, I should have just gone with the regular warranty on the battery. The 3-year unlimited mileage warranty cuz a year later I ended up trading the car off as a virtually dead car because the gen 3 got a clogged Cadillac converter and did not run Right after that and because of how old it was and all the other work it needed. I ended up buying my 2021 Prius and trading the 2012 gen 3 for the Gen 4 Prius but the Gen 2 Priuses are good little cars and it would not be super expensive to replace the battery in that car a couple thousand dollars cuz believe it or not when it comes to Toyota Priuses the gen2s are the most common Prius cuz Toyota sold More of those than any other generation of Toyota Prius they made even though the peak Toyota Prius sales were in 2012 because of some of the recent electric vehicle options such as the Chevrolet volt and the Nissan leaf as well as the Tesla model s. People who were driving Toyota Priuses were switching to those electric cars cuz they were doing it cuz the car is environmentally friendly not because it gets good gas mileage necessarily so by the time that gen 3 Priuses stopped being made in 2015, there was still good sales but the sales numbers were not the almost $300,000 units a year worldwide that we're seeing in 2012 and throughout most of The Gen 2 runs. They were selling anywhere from 150,000 cars a year to 250,000 cars a year worldwide for the Gen 2 Toyota Prius so they are still super common cars to see on the road today cuz they were quite reliable and their biggest failure point was the hybrid battery being the thing that took them off the road for most cars. Not a worn out engine or transmission necessarily and with the various different companies that do hybrid battery replacement and cars and it being the most common hybrid car in the world, you can get a battery in those cars for quite cheap and for most people it is well worth it to replace that hybrid battery considering that a lot of those third-party companies offer some decent warranties and sell some good batteries and usually like to sell you batteries that have a good overall state of health to really help boost your fuel economy cuz you can get more out of the battery and use the gas engine less or take that bit of extra load off of the gas engine.

The real problem is that nobody wants to do the work. The dirty lazy owner wants a fast buck as the cars sit, not willing to drag them out so a buyer can assess accurately thus. hiding major damage. The lowballing buyer doesn't want to bust his butt and do it, they want to pay pennies on the dollar and want people to work for free. And the guy making this super low quality video doesn't even want to climb thru the weeds while making this video so you can tell. Just a bunch of lazy arse people wasting other people's time.

@NDoghouse I agree on some levels and disagree on others. The man with whom I was speaking does not own the cars. He is helping his mother-in-law get rid of them after the death of her husband. It was his life's work. I would imagine it's very hard to get rid of such a large part of your loved one's life. When those things are gone, so is he. Second, I will be back in the area in the late fall, when the bushes (and wasps) will be far more manageable. I was ill-prepared to venture into unknown territory at the time. Third, I'm a guy with a cell phone, making videos of my experiences. I am in no way a videographer. I'm lucky not to drop it several times during the recording. Fourth, I am so glad that you watched it anyway. I try my darnedest to show you what I see, as I see it. It's unscripted and unplanned. Thanks for watching and commenting!

The tri-5 chevs. Yes. The early coupes, Hudson, 37 Chev. Yes/ The thing you called a Triumph/ w Mopar, is actually a A-H bugeye sprite & junk.Better views would help, how much rust, etc./ what state? If its priced right, maybe. Scrap a bunch locally. Custom coupe is based on 41-48 Ford/ really rough. Caddy flower car yeah.

From the late 50's into the 70's, there was a Crosley on a "stick" in front of a salvage yard, on the Airline Highway, in Kenner, Louisiana.

When I put non-ethanol 89 octane in my 08 Prius with over 225,000 miles and with a rebuilt title I get around 52 miles to the gallon with ethanal 89 octane I get around 42 mpg. I bought mine for $3900 last fall and love driving it.
