It has rained on and off for 2 weeks straight, but I've gotten A LOT done to my one-owner Mercury Commuter Wagon. Let's do this! Edited by VideoGuru:videoguru.page...

an SOS soap pad or some 0000 alt steel wool and some water will shine those bumpers and chrome everywhere like new and get rid of the rust! Then give em a good polish! You'll be glad you did! Ha! Ha! Oh and the alternator is probably correct! Didn't have much electrical in that car! Love your videos! Oh, at the end.....No whitewalls. BooHoo!

That pump doesnt look old the little cooler might be for power steering. Im not so surprised about front disc brakes.

@@peterbenson3776 I've had several late-60s cars, and many of them had 4-wheel drum brakes. I know that they were options on many cars in '67. It sure was good to see them, especially on such a big, heavy car. Thanks for watching and commenting!

People never think about how dried out fuel hoses, brakes, seals & gaskets can reek havoc- today's ethanol blends work to dry hose out even faster, fuel pump diaphragms, and destroy carb seals, gaskets, etc. Wix oil filter is 51515, and they make filters for a lot of packaging companies/private labels. I never use Fram; factory, Wix or Baldwin

@@mohawkgarage I built a 410 using a 428 crank in a '73 FTE 390 block- big hint from my machinist buddy who loves Fords. Use the 428 CJ oil filter adapter, really helps oil flow which is very important with top-oilers...

I can picture the missing rubber plug for your carb. It has a flat bottom with a stem sticking up that you pull through the hole on the arm. Bowl vent valve or something like that.

Generally, no exhaust manifold gaskets on classic Fords.

The other carb. is an earlier model. They are fairly close all the way back to 1957. The hole is just a vent. There probably was a plug attached to the arm. Gas will shoot out that hole if the float is stick.

@@mohawkgarage Just an FYI, that accelerator arm used to have a thin, soft peach colored, rubber lid (about the size of a dime) that covered the vent hole. It was held in place with a dimple, that popped up thru the hole in the arm It was there so where you floored the gas pedal, it would shut off an open air vacuum leak, so ALL the air went down thru the carbs. At about 5 years old, the dimple breaks off, and the car never has the same power as it did before.
