I'm glad you concentrate only on the greens - go with what you know. I have been using the berry juice for a long time and it is an excellent supplement for good skin and a healthy immune system. What you say about taking care is correct. The berries must be GENTLY crushed so that the seeds are not disturbed. Then, raw vinegar is used to extract the juice, while straining out the skins, seeds and pulp. There are enough videos out there on how to do this that I don't have to elaborate here - I'm just glad you've done such an informative exposition on how else to use this tremendous wild food source.

What if they have gone to flower and seeds are forming? I used the picturethis app and it said the stemstalks and roots were poisonous aswell as saying its great pig feed and that the leaves are edible

You can eat yellow stainers if you boil them thoroughly. People say they're poisonous but really just toxic if not cooked. May a slight fennely aftertaste or burp.

I have 3 clumps I dont pull. I harvest during the summer. I rince, chop, blanch in beef broth and freeze. I cooked a pot up for the grands and they loved it. My grandson said it's better than spinich.

❤ Gosh, I've seen this bush hundreds of times . even cut braches for decoration in my flowers because of the berries. Did not know it was edible. Your video was totally amazing. Very informative. Love the way you explained everything. I'm gonna surely be on the lookout for the bush again and see if it can grow on my property. I do love to garden but love to eat even more 😂.

If you space them about a ft apart, they spread out when you cut some leaf clusters...the more you harvest, the bigger the plant gets snd the more leaves grow! Love em...I have some in my yard this season. We call it callaloo❤

I cooked the mushrooms exactly like you did and than fried up an onion and made a grilled cheese with pepper jack and a local bakery's bread. SUPER GOOD! The single mushroom I bought was $5😂 so I'm glad I didn't mess it up lol.

I just bought a house in Alabama near a state preserve. The property was cleared last year down to the sand so this spring nothing was growing. Now in Mid-August the poke weed plants cover the property and they are reaching over 10 feet tall in just that short time ! Good lord! I had no idea I could eat it or the history...or how much Viramin A and C is in there! I got poke weed paradise I guess lol

I recently moved next to Capital Forest in WA and the locals here sold me some lobsters and chanterelles. I’m excited to go shrooming as I’m finding SO many here on my property. I’m learning my ID as fast as possible and relying on the expertise of the locals.

I've grown a hop plant for ornamental screening. I believe I got a male plant (flowers the first summer). This is fine as I don't want to harvest anything. I cannot find an answer as to what would happen if I don't cut back the hop bine. Do you know 🤷🏼♀️

I’m camping in the forest and just picked a bowl of them. But I’m still afraid to try them! It was fun mushroom hunting however.
@HaphazardHomesteadАй бұрын
Hey, @RVFreeDa, how great that you found some Lobsters! They are so fun to find because they are so colorful and each one is a little different in their shape and size, but still distinctive for easy ID. If you do try eating them, just make sure to cook them thoroughly. Even just a small amount of that crusty orange outer part is fun and tasty with eggs, because they will turn the egg whites a bright magenta! I've got some other videos on cooking Lobster mushrooms, too, that you might find helpful. Happy mushroom hunting!

Very educational. I like your video. My mom just put them in water and if the water turned pink it was edible. I won’t be doing that now.

What a fun video, so interesting. Except my boiled and sautéed buds were such a culinary fail. They were twice as bitter as dandelions 😢.
