Docking to HDMI monitor is possible with PostmarketOS. However, the OnePlus 6t requires a special DisplayLink adapter to test it. I don't have that adapter yet, so I cannot confirm with GNOME vs Plasma etc. I'll test it out if I can get an adapter.

Unfortunately, GSI is not really a thing with GrapheneOS. This is for security purposes. It has to update and work with specific kernels and firmware, which is why there are only a few supported devices. More information here: discuss.grapheneos.org/d/9133-support-for-gsi/5 . If you are really wanting to use GrapheneOS, then I do think it's worth getting a Pixel device. Keep in mind the life of the device will be only a little longer than the OEM supported updates. It will still work after this, but it won't get the latest GrapheneOS updates, which theoretically makes it less secure.

Unfortunately there's no easy way to tell what will be available in the future. Samsung S20 FE is relatively "new" in the Ubuntu Touch world. Keep an eye on the forum: forums.ubports.com/category/60/samsung and device page for the kinds of devices thare are supported devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ It really depends on the hardware capabilities and someone being willing to port it to UT.

You're right; that's something to focus on in the videos. It depends on each device, but from a software perspective, as setup in this video, the idle battery life is quite good. I left it for a day or so and there was minimal drain. With general use, it was dropping 1% every 5 mins of constant use. Again it depends on screen brightness and power profiles. I will have to do a comparison with other OSes. Thanks for the thoughts on this.

@@CyberPunkEdu If the percentage is accurate, that's pretty good, that means 500 mins for 100% which is around 8 hours, but of course it depends on the OS packages used and the apps used and for how long and the software optimization. One thing I wish in the future is an OLED display in Linux phones (combined with proper black dark-mode) which will improve battery life significantly.

In my experience with postmarket os on the poco f1 which I just grabbed the prebuilt image and flashed it into my phone i didnt have as good as battery backup you are specifying, considering these two phones are nearly identical, the bad battery life could be due to the fact that i had replaced this phone's battery. I then reinstalled android because i was annoyed by having to constantly plug the phone into the charger

There is an extension manager app, but the "blur my desktop" extension isn't working. 3. Yes! At least in the browser it is set to the speaker instead of headphones. @@namqul3544 Glad it's working! Sometimes that first boot is a bit off. If using an edge channel, that also can break sometimes.

It is possible, but the use of it is not ideal. For example, I was able to use a Russian on-screen keyboard by adding the input method, moving it "up" in priority in the settings then loging out and in again. However, this design is for hardward keyboards, so there is no easy way to switch between input methods with being able to set and press hotkeys on the keyboard. It may be possible to write a script for this, but by default there is no easy way that I can see.

Yes, I don't like pressing hardware buttons too much. However sxmo also has window gestures that don't require the buttons.

Unfortunately not at the moment. Once upon a time there was a "Station Dock" in development, but currently the focus is on getting a functional mobile phone first.

There is a key step in having to reboot to recovery *before* the very first boot of lineage os. This allows gapps to be installed properly as system apps. If you didn't do this step, then you would have to factory rest the device, reboot to recovery directly, then flash gapps. Let me know if that helps!

I haven't tested it myself yet, but I have read that you can install python. You are also able to get a "fakeroot" shell and run apt installs. There are some recent posts about it in the forums: forums.ubports.com/category/101/libertine

Yep! Similar to DeX. I think this idea was first on Ubuntu Touch actually. It's still a work in progress, but quite neat.

I suppose this is way better than dex. This is not a "desktop style frontend" to a mobile app, this a compatibility layer to run full desktop apps.

@@AnalogSins Yes, you are right. It is as you described. It can run proper desktop apps without needing to recode them for mobile. So anything available on Ubuntu desktop now is potentially usable on Ubuntu Touch.

The OS has camera support (ie camera app), BUT it doesn't work on OP6t. So, it really depends on the device, and the current state of the port for that device.

@@Open-Source2024 A PMOS-installer sounds great. There have been some inclusions of PMOS in the Ubports installer, but it has had some issues. You may be able to collaborate or get some insights fomr ubports. A PMOS-specific installer would be nice :)

It is normal for the sandboxed google play to say it was installed from google. To log out from the google account, go to t Settings -> Passwords & Accounts -> Then remove the Google account.

It sounds like there is either a connection issue, or something is no longer supported. Try using a different wi-fi connection, VPN, DNS, etc. Otherwise check to see if there is an OS update. Which device are you using?

I can use my banking apps, there is an extra step that is show in my video shorts. However, it might depend on each app. Google wallet works except not with nfc, so it might not be useful for everyone.

Are there specific features that you are looking for? I find that LineageOS is good for removing bloat, and then you can install the pixel camera or some other things.

Yes, MindTheGapps (and most new Gapps) have addon.d support, so you can just update LO via OTA. The Gapps will update via playstore etc.
