I don't think this is a problem. I think you are actually choosing the wrong tool. Cloud need connection, obviously a good connection for this kinda of work. Same thing as the need to have a good computer or a good screen for cg. If you want to work locally, the best solution might be download the .drp, duplicate the working timeline, give it a proper name and when you finished export the .drt to the original cloud. It all comes to a clean project management and editing workflow.

Can this be used as a stream deck?

I have used Photoshop since it came out, I made my professional career with PH and the paid software was very expensive at the time, it stopped working and they put in monthly payments. I had to hire it this time by the month and when I finished a month's work, surprise!!! I couldn't cancel it unless I paid for the year. Which I'm sure is in the small print... Never again Photoshop, as I used DaVinci Resolve as a pro, I was able to use it for color and with many advantages, but even so there were still simple operations missing and finally Affinity offers a solution for all those disenchanted with Adobe. I have tried it and started using it directly without reading anything, except for some differences in names it works almost the same in general. You can even load plugins like Denhacer...

Mine came free with the license so it's obviously a great deal! With the improved functionality of the cut page it has stacks of good use and frankly, there is benefit to actually spending more time in the cut page and using the edit page for the finessing, for want of a better word.

i detest Adobe for their garbage treatment of paying customers. i outright bought their mobile suite of apps as an early adopter. over time, they forced updates that may have added subscription-only features (which is already slimy), but also moved original features back-and-forth between subscription-only and included with my paid account. the final straw was the removal of the apps i paid for from all of my devices. i won’t ever buy from them again. it’s criminal.

Except it's not for free (at least in Ver 18 of da Vinci) unless you own the Studio ver. and it is no where near as good as plugins for AE like what Granite Bay used to make before Adobe went crazy, these were totally professional de flicker plugins. The best way is of course to shoot without any flicker from whatever source/reason.

Hi there! I usually do not comment on videos but wanted to share my solution to brutal lag (even in 720p) with H.265 iPhone footage on my 12.9 M1 iPad Pro. Turns out that frame interpolation was set to Optical flow, and as my project was in 29,97 fps and iPhone footage is 30, optical flow was killing the performance. Now with that set to closest this this flies, even with effects & a 4K timeline.

I bought the new iPad Pro M4 for short edits with davinci resolve. But I have a big problem with an external SSD. After I import some media, the files show up correctly in Davinci Resolve for a short time. But after a few seconds all media is offline and I can't access the media in the files app.The SSD is still displayed in the Files app, but I cannot access it. To be able to access it again, I have to restart the ipad. . But even then I can't use the external SSD for editing. I have no idea what the problem is. With internal footage it works without problems...

I have been using Photoshop for years but it's always nice to see other people and learn new things. Great video, learnt a lot and just bought Affinity Photo 2, so looking forward to making the swap.

Photoshop user since version 2.5 here. A few days ago the Beta apps in CC interfered with Ps and couldn't start Ps for the whole day. And I had to finish something for my job. I remembered this recent Affinity hype and I decided to give it a go. Installef Affinity, opened the PSD document. First showstopper, the interface. I hate colorful icons. It took a while to find what I needed. remember I was in a hurry. Then tried to copy/paste the FX style from a layer to the other. Surprise, you can't. Immediatelly that is. There is NO SHORTCUT to this, no menu, no submenu on the RMB, right mouse button/right click. I find out that you can drag/drop the icon, but not on multiple layers, or at least not worked on me. That took me 10-15 minutes just to do for one layer, youtube/help included. That was the second showstopper. Had to create a new layer. Surprise, empty. Wtf. It took another few minutes to find out I need to fill that out. Great UX, so user friendly and fast, what can I say. That was my 3rd and final showstopper. Uninstalled, done everything with a very onld copy of Photoshop, pre CC. Don;t take it personally guys, I am in my 50s, my brain is not that fast and sponge like when learning new programs, I lose all my patience and enthusiasm during the years, I am a worn out designer who loves his routines, I became grumpy, serious and I hate it when I have to lose precious time. I make enough to continue with the CC, I am Adobe Certified Professional in a few apps, so I am fine continuing and to be really honest to the end, I don't really care about them using my work to train their AI whatever. Nowadays, design has a so so short lifespan, it only became entertainment. Plus, my work belongs to the company who pays me a wage, so couldn't care less. Peace out.

It's awesome that Black Magic made Davinci Resolve for iPad. I think it's worth having, and maybe using in a pinch, or like, if you're camping or on a short airplane ride. However, you can get a 2018 Macbook Pro second hand these days (mid-2024) for like $250, and a 2020 for about $450-500. An iPad with a mouse and keyboard could actually make this pretty decent, but if you're going to have a mouse and keyboard, wouldn't you just have a laptop? Anyway, thanks for showing us this! There aren't a lot of DVR iPad videos out there, and I'm pretty sure I won't be doing much with my copy of it, but I have it just in case, and I always appreciate seeing what people can do with the iPad.

I think you can just apply linear wipe transition or whatever it was, no need to animate anything its constant every time

You could have just typed remove couch in Photoshop.

IMHO, one of the killing features of Affinity Photo is its size in comparison with Photoshop. Photoshop uses 1 giga without even opening any file.

Unless it's changed in photo 2, you can also use photoshop plugins in affinity photo. I also removed the couch fairly easily in about 30 seconds. I'm sure anyone who cares enough could clean up any edges easy enough. The inpainting brush is better at smaller objects rather than large chunks of the image.

One time cost vs subscription BS? Affinity FTW! It may be missing a few PS "bells & whistles", but it is by no means an inferior product. And at least I'm not going to have to threaten the CEO with legal action to get them to stop sending me threatening emails demanding money I'd already paid ... for a subscription I had cancelled, but which they were threatening to cancel if I didn't pay them?! Adobe are so inept it's unbelievable!

You can leverage the gpu to do the AI, Topaz only uses local processing power for it's AI, Adobe could do the same but then they couldn't charge you for doing it on their cloud servers. Affinity could also do that and let's not forget NPU's are about to get common place and more software will support them, but you can bet Adobe will still force you to use the cloud and generate low resolution results for the paid premium. Best of all, Adobe steals your data to train their models and forces you to pay for the privilege.

For me, Freepik is the ideal solution.
