Mine came this morning. I'm not a pro by any means but forcing myself to work with it in the cut page for a day has really opened my eyes. It is really useful. So glad I bit the bullet and upgraded to Davinci Studio and added the Speed Editor to my arsenal.

Did the license allow you to receive a free upgrade on the studio version of DR?

@ Yes it does. Considering the Studio license is $295 and the Speed Editor is $399 it makes the final cost of the Speed Editor $104. Money very well spent in my book. I use it all the time.

Reminds me of linear editing days with a CMX or Sony RM-440 edit controller. The jog/shuttle knob is what I use the most on the speed editor.

When I started learning DR 3 years ago, I got an editor. Like you said, it's invaluable for multicam. I'd say, yes, if you edit for hours a day, the editor saves a lot of time.

No idea why Blackmagic has not allowed us to map the buttons. It really is a no brainer and would made the speed editor and editing in Davinci that much better.... I love the wheel, even if the Speed Editor isnt faster, it is more fun.

I just use key binds on my mouse to help me work faster. (I have a gaming mouse) For example I made one of the buttons press N. I think if you don't do lots of editing but still want some shortcuts using key binds on a mouse may work

I just switched over from crashing FC one week ago. I’m loving DaVinci and the Speed Editor. It might actually make me a little faster. I purchased the tour box from your link on the combo of using both tools. So now I have keyboard, mouse, pad, tour box and speed editor. I just love the combination. It’s making something I’m passionate about in the first place, editing, just that much more fun.

I think right now it would be a good choice for many because of the Black Friday sales, at some retailers you can find it for the same price as the Davinci Studio License and the license comes included with the Speed Editor, essentially making it free. ( as of today 11/20/2023 )

Not perfect by any means, but I use it all the time and find it invaluable. The inability to map shortcuts and the lack of an on/off switch for the battery and bluetooth are my biggest complaints.

i have it and its worth it ---IF you are mostly editing on DR and plan to use DR as your main go to editor for 90% of your work then this device is a MUST on your desktop setup...coz its truly worth it and makes your workflow and story telling so much cooler...the highlight of the device is indeed that Scroll wheel...its heavy weight and incredible to use... i have it two years now and still the best thing on my table...plus i can take it to my office when i need to...

Im pretty sure u cld use commamd post on mac to map it to other apps. Im kinda new to resolve but use my midi keyboard (mpk249) w command post in FCPX and Logic and other apps. Took me a little while to wrap my brain around and set up but im hoping to set up in Resolve this week cause Im over FCPX and never really got along w premiere pro.

Is it worth it to learn all of the traditional editing terminology (like trim, slip, etc.)? And then learn to use the cut page? I haven't done it in five years of DR use, but I'm always down for saving time.

I won one at the Resolve event in Amsterdam. Started using it now, and immediately missed a GO TO IN (point) and jump to next edit.

Mine came free with the license so it's obviously a great deal! With the improved functionality of the cut page it has stacks of good use and frankly, there is benefit to actually spending more time in the cut page and using the edit page for the finessing, for want of a better word.

Hi, thank you for the video! I've been using the tourbox to edit on Premiere Pro for 5 years, now considering the switch to Resolve. Do you think its worth to buy the bundle or just buy the license and continue editing with the tourbox?

I certainly didnt NEED it, but I was needing to purchase the studio version of davinci anyway, so mine as well get some bang for my buck. I love it.

Does Speed Editor works in all pages. I mean- Cut, Edit, Colour?

I love it for editing "linear" videos, where I just have to cut though content quickly. You can basically edit videos with one hand with it. But if I have to edit to music with multiple tracks that need to be aligned, it feels more like an obstacle with a lot of restrictions. I do a ton of multicam editing, but I still don't use the speed editor for it because of that.

Thanks for the video I just ordered one with a discount code, £329 including next day delivery and I believe it said Davinci 18 licence key!! I'm hoping the studio version handles 4k MP4 10bit files better than the free version, I keep getting out of sync audio the more cuts I make. The magnet and chain link are both selected and I'm only cutting out sections then using auto ripple to close the gaps!!

Did someone tested out the side wheel of the mx master 3? Is the speed changable on the mouse or only the speededitor has this privilege?

I have. It works pretty well for shorter clips, but for my secondary channel I think the Speed editor will strain my thumb alot less. Two cameras and recording until batteries dies.

If y know y will be using resolve as the editor software then this item should be on your table inside 5 mins...but if y use davinci and also use other softwares then maybe this is not too important coz your workflow is a mixture of things...

I got mine basically for free and honestly I'm not a fan. A regular keyboard already does everything the speed editor can, and much more. The jog wheel is nice though.

Does it just give you a code for the latest version of studio ? Now it’s studio 19

Normally you install your resolve paid version, and than you get latest version(UPDATE FREE)

Someone did make a plugin for it to work in Final Cut I believe so that’s coo haha

It's worth it IF...you are totally using Resolve...as the main editing tool...if y r not committed to Resolve and like to jump.around programs then maybe no point in buying it...btw Resolve.should be the program.you use coz it has everything under one roof...
