How did you limit your speed with the ship to 1 m/s?
@redsgamescompany
@redsgamescompany 3 күн бұрын
all I did on this one was turn off the reverse thrusters and then tap "W" to get just a little bit of forward momentum. When not in gravity you can also just turn off your ship's inertial dampeners ("Z" by default I believe) and drift that way. The key is to not have a ton of forward thrust (or turn off extra thrusters) so that any forward thrust you do is slow enough to be controllable.

Is that miner drivable? Or is it going to be remote control?
@redsgamescompany
@redsgamescompany 6 күн бұрын
Drivable is the plan, the cockpit was kind of tucked away and hard to see in wireframe. Could do remote control, but at the ranges I'll need it to go, that doesn't seem as practical.

38:50 You're full of ice, going for cobalt, but your hydro tanks are nearly empty? That means you're not converting ice to fuel or air, thus making space for other ores. And if you have bottles to fill, you can also use some of that converted ice and make more space. Did you turn your H2/O2 off when you moved it?

I only have the one small grid one on the C.L.C. and they are slooowwwww. I'll need to build a large grid O2/H2 gen or 2 on the base, and probably a tank for good measure. I should have probably gone home, dropped off the ice, and then gone back out hunting cobalt, but I was too lazy to make it 2 trips.

Me too, That ore spectroscopy mod is paying for itself! I hope to be around through the release of SE 2, and I'm planning to take a look on the 27th (or as close as my schedule allows), though I'll probably be making most of my SE content in good old SE 1 until SE 2 can support the types of stories I like to tell.

33:00 If you have it set as a station and you cut something off (and depending on if you have unsupported stations turned on), most of the time they're still locked to that grid, which means you can just throw a block back in there. If, for whatever reason, they aren't going to reconnect with just a block, then you have to make ONE of them no longer a station for the merge blocks to work because they have to be able to move.

It would be good if you can GPS Mark the base. Also if you are using mods, BuildAndRepair/Nanites would be great idea. Also in space Azimuth Ore scanner is a must as it gives 2500Kms range with small grids and 5000 kms on large. Switching off the thrusters on your ship while you are stationary would save hydrogen/power.

yep, I thought I had talked about it when I did it, but then during editing I just sorta did it. That was around the 3 hour mark of recording so I think I just imagined a great explanation and forgot to say it out loud. Essentially it was due to clang issues from the thruster so close to the angled hinges.

29:40 (On getting kicked from done each time you connect to empty) If you turn off the drill, the thrusters, the dampeners, if possible, and the lights, anything else that drains power, including the antenna, when you attach, then you can leave the remote on, so that you can Disconnect again for another load without having to log back into it. But, like you said, if you needed to leave in a hurry, as soon as you connect, you can exit the menu and you're back in the cockpit. Also, in general, for the base and the vehicle, anytime you're not using them, turn the lights off. It's like leaving the lights on your car when you get out. It just drains power and drains all the batteries. You already fixed it in this episode with the rover connecting to the base, but in general, turn off things you're not using, because even in idle mode, they usually Still draw some kind of power, like having the O2 gen on when there is no ice, having the assembler on when you're not building things, having the refinery on when there's no ore. I myself like pushing buttons so I can verify I pushed everything but if you do like engineered coffee where you have small block controllers and event controllers attached to your grid you can take up less space and even have lights to alert you what is on and what is off but you can make it to where when there is no ore the refinery turns off when the assembler is not being used it has a timer that turns it off after something like 30 seconds if it's not being used. If there is no ice in the system, the O2 gen will turn itself off. Those kind of things. ( If you can't tell, I enjoy inventory, resource, and power management. 😋 )

4:10 (On the wind turbines and clouds) As far as I know, they have not added in wind dynamics yet, but that is something they're adding into the new engine to have aerodynamics and fluid dynamics for water. Currently, it affects the wind turbines. The first one will typically have the most input while the rest of them that are too close will be degraded. The distance is a minimum of eight Blocks between the wind turbine and any voxel other block or other structure. So you have to have at least nine to put your wind turbine on. eight between side to side and eight from top to bottom, eight from everything. That mod that allows you to stack them ignores that for each other (basically top to bottom), giving you the ability to stack them. But I think the rest of the stipulations still stand. You have to be eight blocks from the ground, or voxel, or block, or structure in order to not interfere with its wind. The cloud thing is just a coincidence.

I really like this, and it makes want to try something similar, but perhaps using more the hovercraft method (frictionless wheels sideways on the bottom) Then add some atmo thrusters to the sail mast, and have the mast on a rotor. Guess i would still need gyros to actually rotate the boat though...hmmm Problem is...that will be much harder to control, and my "SS. Bad idea" will probably crash during its maiden voyage. xD
@redsgamescompany
@redsgamescompany Ай бұрын
that could be fun, but yeah steering might be tough since SE doesn't really emulate differential thrust. Not quite sure how best to control a gyro for this type of system, but I'm sure you could find a way!
