Been a fan of this local for over half a century. Used to ride my bike with friends down to the tracks in Campbell after school a lot and wait for the trains. Used to be pretty busy back in the days where orchards were prevalent. Think the locos were SP SD and GP 9’s back then. Sad to see the line go quiet ... forever GP 60s are my favorite!

You generally see older Cat's doing this stuff. Do they not make these versions in the new machines? Or is it where you put older machines?
@PTSF_Jaeger10 ай бұрын
They do make new pipelayers, but the'yre not common and therefore expensive. Older machines can generally be had for cheaper, and are still supported by Cat. Better investment than buying a new machine, generally

The day this line inevitably closes, I want it to become a tourist line. Someone could run trains from the plant in Cupertino down to Campbell and back while highlighting the valley's agricultural history.

Reminds me of my time in the Corps. Lotta dudes standing around, four guys working, one person comes over and touches whatever you're working on, then the guys leaning up yell at the ones actually working about something or other hahahaha.
@TheNemosdaddy2 жыл бұрын
You have equipment operators of the contactor (hulcher), the ground guys, usually 4, the wreckmaster and his assistant. The ones in the yellow vests are supervisors from different departments of the railroad, Engineering, transportation and mechanical department. You don't know the situation, it's really none of your business. It's a private company doing what they need to get back to operations.
