I think the Kwon ending (pun intended) was a "pride cometh before the fall" lesson for our characters. It seems to me that pride is a major but subtle theme for many of the characters, and this incident could be the straw that breaks the camels back to finally get the point across that all these petty rivalries aren't worth you're life, in both the literal and metaphorical sense.

I’ve been saying since season 3 that the show has to kill off a character to give some stakes and intensity. I was hoping it would’ve been a main character. It would’ve showed that their feuds have really hit a point of “oh shit, what are we doing”. Sadly, the show decides to kill a side character who was a big massive asshole the whole season. They never gave reason for us to even sympathize with him. Which made me laugh when he landed on the blade doing some dumb aerial kick. We feel nothing for kid and he got his come uppins. At least it is just enough to push the narrative forward and show a little version of that consequence theme.

Would it even make sense for Miyagi to have ever fought in a tournament? In the original film as Daniel is finding his way to the ring, he says to Miyagi that he thought Miyagi fought a lot and Miyagi says, "for life not for points." The whole point of that section was Miyagi knew nothing about tournaments--remember he had to steal a black belt because Daniel couldn't even compete unless he was brown belt or above--and basically he was gping in blind. Ali had to give him a 5-second run down of the rules

I see the common thread from season 1 until now. The ending meant something that I have felt is the message of the series. To always have your head with you and don't let your emotions take over. And Mr. Myagi's message there are no bad students, only bad teachers
@Ssense7172 ай бұрын
*SPOILERS* I just wanna say I don't think yall understand anything of what is going to happen with the Miyagi mystery. But this show isn't repeating itself. Where Season Four had Kreese and Silver together in the tortument. They are against each other. And no Silver isn't just thrown as a surprise. He is there cause master kim is testing his two students. Which one will be his prodigy. Season Six first five episodes seem a little weak. But thats Because there are no threats at home they defeated Cobra Kai in the Valley. 😂 The show never ran its course cause the creators still have a story to tell. Having Silver come back proves the story wasn't over. And simply winning a tortument isn't going to end this war. The Death of Kwon is a dark foreshadowing of the fate of everyone's future. If they do not realize their errors. Even Miyago-Do is in the wrong. Daniel never learned that no matter how hard it is. Beating your enemy was never the answer. It isn't about honor or philosophy but about principles. For looking for revenge you must first start by digging two graves. For the mystery isnt it obvious that Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do teachings stem from the same teacher. But one represents the fall from the lessons a dark and wrong path and one the rise from the lessons and the light and right path. Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do are Ying and Yang. So no there's a story to still tell YALL just hate anything that a simple answer. Part Two proved to me Part One was setting the stage. The Calm before the storm. For the Drama, Johnny and Daniel will always be at odds and will cuss at each other. That's how people are in real life. Thats their strengths together as friends, Miguel helps them realize this. So no it isn't repeating it's finalizing the fate of these characters.

I was hoping for something a little different when Johnny and Miguel arrived at the hospital upon return to the States. However, the writers decided to just rip off Adrian's post-coma scene from Rocky II instead. And, yeah, Daniel's obsession over Miyagi's backstory feels super forced. Daniel, as a character, is old enough to understand that sometimes good people do some bad things at times. I mean, all he has to do is look in the mirror for confirmation. Is it really THAT hard for him to understand that if Miyagi fought in this intense tournament back in the day, and something went sideways leading to the death of a competitor, that Miyagi would have taken the mindset that fighting in tournaments is not the way to go? Seems pretty logical to me. I tend to agree...they seemingly didn't have a direction to take Daniel in for this season, so they forced this Miyagi angle on us.

Big fan cody! Of course the tournament goes against the show's original philosophy. that's the point. That is why Miyagi's subplot works so well..And everything is connected. For me the last 20 minutes are simply the best of the best. And the outcome(out of this world fights) of the Royal Rumble is directly connected to Daniel's inner conflict, his nightmare about Miyagi, his worst nightmare. Mr Miyagi killed a fighter At the Sekai Takei in the 1940's and i'm sure he suffered hell. Lost everything. Now, it's their turn, Kreese, Silver, Chozen, Daniel and Johnny will go through haunting guilt...Some will evolve...And some won't. Now the pain really begins....The first 5 shows were about peace, the second act was about war, much bigger and violent that we have ever seen on this show, and the third act will be about trying to recapture that inner peace. And yes, it's been done over the last 5 years, and i think it's part of the charm and the writers know about it and they have cranked it up at an ubsurd level, just like a 1980's action picture. Like Rocky 4! Which they reference a lot in season 6. Even Silver's The iron Dragons have an Ivan Drago type of Character. It's one of the messages in there. Everything is huge. but i don't know about you, but i have to say love hearing Silver's voice at the end of episode 8. His return! Danny boy! LOL Gave me chills...

While the ending is much harder to work around than a broken back or going to prison, I’m cautious about how impactful this will actually be. This season alone retcons away both Kreese and Silver’s crimes from season 5 in a single line of dialogue. Despite Silver nearly killing someone with a sword, And Kreese breaking out of prison, assaulting several guards and doctors in the process. This show is like a soap opera, always figuring ways to not make things as impactful as they appear. Most episodes have a major cliffhanger, only to resolve to normal by the start of the next episode. I’m not saying that what we saw at the end isn’t real, Or that it won’t have implications moving forward, But whether it’s revealing that someone is actually in a coma, That a death was staged, Or doing a time jump, to avoid dealing with the direct aftermath, There’s always a way.

Johnny and Miguel side mission flying back and forth, Daniel´s wife recruitment mission. Luckily she has nothing better to do. Best episode was actually number 8 with the least attachment to the Sekai Taikai. At least we got a brawl at the end. Even if the fighting has not stepped up at all in quality. Yes, the show continues some of the same negatives and problems that have always plagued the show. The young melodrama is so back and forth filler, some actions from the adults seem unbelievable/dumb, and the forced reasons to make characters hate each other still exist. My biggest problem with this ending was playing the “death” card with a character that not only the main characters hated, but the audience does not give a shit about. I think Kreese being killed by Silver in self-defense, after coming to terms with his hate for Silver, was perfectly set up to be the “Holy Shit Consequence” moment for everyone else. As he was starting to be seen as a none threat by both Johnny/Daniel. As they recognize he was also heavily manipulated by Silver. His death would allow the Kreese character to come to a fulfilling/meaningful end and also help all the people involved; recognize what their collective actions lead to. Honestly feels like they chickened out and setup an entire nothing side character to be offed easily. They need to stop being 50/50 and realize most of their fanbase is an older audience. Older people can take heavier storytelling. Hell, young audiences can take it as well today. Push a PG-13 tone.

When is the trailer for the Karate kid wit Ralph machio and Jackie Chan does that movie take place in an alternate timeline. Only time will tell

I never watched Karate Kid and Cobra Kai for the karate fights. I watched it for the compelling story about bullying, mentor/mentee and father/son relationships, growing up and learning to navigate in the world, and for the heart that those movies and early Cobra Kai seasons had. It has now transitioned into melodrama and way over-the-top spectacle. I thought the writers had it right before, but maybe there is too much pressure to one-up the previous year instead of just telling a good story. Disappointing.

Mr. Miyagi did say he’s never fought for points, so if the tournaments you’re speaking about in this chunk of episodes has points, that means he was lying
@wizzydoesdallas34082 ай бұрын
They do kinnnnd of explain that the tournament has been totally commercialized and it was more brutal when myagi fought in it and I'm sure they will explain why he felt like he had to fight in it before part 3 is done. Also, you could kind of put together why myagi doesn't like tournaments because of this tournament.
@GaryTongue-zn5di2 ай бұрын
@secularbelt No he didn't, dumbass. Miyagi never said that, dumbass. He did however say he never was at all valley or that he never fought for belts. NEVER said once ever that he never fought for points.

I agree while I thoroughly have enjoyed watching season 6 I was thinking the same things like none of this is necessary It's just replaying the same stories but bigger. That being said as long as they only do it for one season I think it's kind of cool cuz it is really fun to watch! So while they could have ended it, they could also drag it on for another two seasons which would be ridiculous so I kind of view this as fun. But yeah I mean how many times can Tori go back and forth, how many love triangles can there be, how many times can Johnny and Daniel have the same argument. How many times can we freak out cuz silver is back! But I'm 100% on board with their decision to make it ridiculous one last time 😇 as long as they tie up all the loose ends and don't do something lame like they did to us in Lost!!!

I Find It Weird They Didn’t Try And Tie In “The Next Karate Kid” Into Cobra Kai I Always Thought Julie Would Have Been A Good In Between For Daniel & Johnny And That We Could See Some Interesting Moments Between Her And Sam.

Once this season ends, there’s going to be a crossover between Cobra Kai and the Karate kid movie that came out in 2010 but idk how it will turn out because it was basically a remake and Master Li was another version of Kreese in that movie. It’s weird because all the characters in the original are going to see an alternative version of their own characters

N o they aren't. Because Daniel is the only legacy character in the new movie.

This season has been great so far for me. Especially the cliffhangers. I can understand the thought of the story being concluded but season 3 is easily the weakest season by far😭
@RuairiG2 ай бұрын
All the plots and character arcs were really resolved in S5. Not much more story left to tell. S6 part 1 had so much character regressions, forced drama and got really repetitive. Daniel and Johnny bickering is really overdone and still continues. Got last 2 episodes to finish. Mixed on it but ending will probably make or break it for me.

@phoenixmagi22 ай бұрын
It still does not work. He did not die competing in the tournament. He died because a giant random fight broke out and he found a knife he was going to use by the way to kill someone else only the other guy was better and Kwon accidentally stabbed himself. It was his own fault he died and did not love and commit murder. Still does not work.

I will say even though there was a lot of drama and sorm bickering for a long time plus others at least to me i think i nthe last 2 episodes i believe they got most of it resolved liek Johnny and Daniel are resolved finally. Miguel and Sam resolved. Robby and Tory for the most part in the last episode I am pretty positive. Hawk and Demetri has finally stop arguing. The Mr.Miagi one some of it but not finished I dont think. Miguel and Axel for sure not. And there might be a couple of things that are not resolved but at least most of it was finally resolved and the 5 episodes i mean i just hope they resolve the rest and the biggest thing is to me who gonna win the ternament that part might get me excited and especially going against Axel i don't know but again we will see happens they got most of the issues gone just need to finish off the rest i think

I disagree about the Miyagi mystery subplot. I actually find the whole Miyagi mystery storyline compelling. Because ever since I was a kid, I’ve always found the character Mr Miyagi a little mysterious. It’s like i’ve always had this gut feeling that there’s just more to this guy than meet the guy and I would someday like to know more about his past. But I was not expecting the writers to give me a lot more depth to his character in terms of his past. I mean we come to find out that he really wasn’t at first when he was a younger man he wasn’t the man that we all thought he was because it just goes to show that stuff like that happens to the best of us and nobody’s perfect and we all screw up or we all have screwed up at some point in our lives. I totally understand why he kept it secret from Daniel. Because obviously that was a time of his life that he just wanted to forget about and move forward from And he took those experiences and learn from them, and it made him want to be a better man. Like I’m not gonna lie I think that this stuff that they’re doing with Mr. Miyagi is interesting. I know a lot of people don’t like it and that’s fine but me personally I don’t have a problem with it. I actually think it’s some good stuff. And holy shit part two is 10 times better than part one. I really feel like the writers really listened to the criticisms of part one and said let’s do better and let’s go balls to the wall. And I’m gonna be honest when they did the character of Kenny, dirty and part one. I was hoping that they would redeem him and bring him back. And I would come clean and take responsibility for what she did and yeah, they do all that, and I was heavily satisfied. And the iron dragons were these new tough foes for Miyagi do to overcome. I mean, I don’t know what else to say part two of season six was dope as hell and I can’t wait to see what happens next and I’m not gonna lie as much as I didn’t care for Kwon either I was still shocked by his demise. Honestly, his death there’s a lot of meaning and a lot of symbolism behind it. I mean, everybody was shocked even Terry Silver was shocked. I mean, people are saying if somebody like Terry Silver is shocked then you know it’s bad. Kwon was so consumed with rage and anger and hatred And he refused to accept because he took Kreece’s seriously, like being heartless and defeat does not exist And all and all the strike first, strike hard, no mercy philosophy. And look what happened It also symbolizes what Mr. Miyagi said in the next karate kid Fighting not good someone always gets hurt.
