You can thank Kelly Marcel, she wrote all 3 movies and each of them gotten worse and insult to injury, they promote her not just the writer but also being the Director. This is why i don't care for these movies since they can't seem to do a good job making the characters be like the comics, especially Carnage. And no offense Cody, stop giving credit to Kevin Feige since has not done s*it he had a very minor role that everyone think that he's this genius who build the MCU...when Bob Iger gave Feige full control everything went downhill and we seen this. Feige was againts having Hugh Jackman reprise his role of Wolverine because he didn't want to ruin the ending of Logan, the one who gave green light was Bob Chaepek, not Feige. Cody, do yourself a favor and read the Venom run by Donny Cates. Preferably the omnibus if you ever get a chance or see it at a Barnes N Noble or something. Many elements from this movie are in there. However, there is a fantastic emotional core surrounding Eddie Brock Venom in that story that I think you'll enjoy. There's also some badass 80s metal horror vibes found throughout the story. That’s a Venom story I highly recommend plus there's not too much context you need to get into it.

Thanks Cody Leach! You make a solid point with this movie review, and I agree about Venom : Let There Be Carnage I had high expectations myself but was let down. Carnage seemed like a playstation 3 character and I felt Mathew Lillard may have portrayed Cletus Cassidy better than Woody Harrelson, my opinion. I haven't seen Venom 3 yet but your reviews I trust. It's disappointing how Sony keeps dropping the ball with these films. Venom was best when Todd McFarlane had control, imagine him working with Lionsgate films to do a Venom movie right. Venom should be more angrier and vengeful. The original Venom from the comics had more charisma. Maybe one day a director can concept these villains as they should be, instead of anti- hero bull-crap plot synopsis. Looking forward to your next review Cody thanks man. 🙏

Look, I’m perfectly fine with movies not trying to be deep in their themes or complex in their stories. There are lots of movies in that category I love just as much as dramatic pieces and character studies. But after Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, I can’t give Venom: The Last Dance a pat on the back because it’s superficial and light-hearted. At some point in time, there has to be some actual weight and story cohesion in what I’m watching to engage with. Venom: The Last Dance is my least favorite of the Venom Trilogy because of its unwillingness to progress its tone and characterizations. In order to movie franchises to be satisfying, there has to be some upward trajectory in the stories being told instead of delivering the same experience but with conflicts that are a lot more compelling on paper than in execution. At least The Last Dance is better than certain comic book films from the 00’s like Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer or Catwoman if that means anything.

Have to agree. It felt like a whole bunch of people sat around a table and tried to connect a series of disjointed, incongruent story ideas. This movie didn't know what it was.. They've taken venom and reduced him into some kind of benign comic relief. So much wasted potential They severely underused a talent like Stephen Graham to a part (like a few others) that could have been lifted out w/o any significance. I mean they used talent like his and others as simple (lazy) story exposition. I don't think they even bothered to completely explain the codex! One of the films is hearing Rhys ifans' american accent. (More wasted talent), but you're right, he should never had been cast due to his previous roles as the lizard. I mean they even had a juno temple and Danny and Rojas ted lasso connection for the love of pete! With Kraven looking like a ticking time bomb just waiting to die in its first week, Aaron Tayler Johnson should be a little concerned how this may impact him becoming the next James bond. Then the ending, yeesh! We spend the whole movie looking at this guys Witcher hair and in the end he looks like a combination of chris angel and pumpkinhead! If I cared at all I would also wonder how he had the power to create portals to virtually any galaxy , could send his sammael-looking creatures through but not himself. Sony, along with other companies as of late other pander to younger audiences or just take for granted that people will just go see anything. Audiences deserve better and should expect better for their money.

To explain knull, He's one of those villains who if you compare him to galactus or thanos he's stronger, Venom can't physically beat knull in a 1v1, Knull is a very scary villain with how powerful he is, but he's being saved for a spiderman movie possibly 4, there just hinting at him yea you don't see his face but I think that's the point This movie wasn't bad, I liked it venom and eddie having hilarious moments and emotional scenes

I figure you wouldn't like this one Cody, as the film is what it is. Other than the Venom films, it appears that Sony simply doesn't know what do with any of the Spider-Man villains from the comics. Now, I'm sure fans from the comics will enjoy seeing some of the symbiotes that appear in the film that came from the comics. We have Agony, (the one that Juno Temple merges with) Scream, and Lasher (the green one). I like the action in the 3rd act of the film and overall, thought that this was better than the 2nd one.

Although I enjoyed the first one, and anticipating a matchup with Carnage, I was completely done after the second film. If fans of these movies are paying attention, rarely does the hero take out the villain. Carnage was done in by that shrieker woman, which I saw coming when her power was revealed and dreaded its inevitable outcome. We’re not suffering from super hero fatigue, we’re suffering from directors and screenwriters lack of ability and care to deliver to the audience what they want. These movies are pretty easy to get right if you just stick with the decades worth of material they have to work with.

Sony seriously is pulling a WB DCEU and are running their spider verse movies in to the ground where they started strong with the first Venom and it’s been a downward spiral ever since. I have no faith in Kraven and I’m pretty sure that’s going to bomb hard.

I’ve never understood why anyone goes out of there way to watch these movies. Reminds me of the fast and furious franchise, but at least the first 3(five wasn’t bad either) were good.

I'm actually impressed that these movies kept getting made. It speaks to Venom's popularity that he was able to make, what?, a billion dollars from three generic movies. After how they did him in No Way Home, though, I ain't seeing this in support of one of my favorite comic book characters.

Theres a TON of venom stories not relates to spiderman that they pulled basically nothing from, its wild how little they pulled from ANY mythos except bare minimum to technically have a plot

I've been a massive fan of Venom since his creation,and I was really excited to hear they were going to make a Venom movie back in 2018. But,while these 3 films have had their moments,they completely ruined the character. I wanted a hard R. A complex,creepy,bloody and violent Venom film. They gave us the opposite. They neutered Venom and made him a giant goofball. And I love Spider-man 3,but Venom was clearly shafted there too. So,thus far,Hollywood is 0/4 when it comes to a good Venom movie.

I really enjoy the first Venom, it's a fun story with an interesting take on the dynamic of Eddie and Venom. I do feel like that's the only one we needed. At least until we got Spiderman vs Venom.

(Spoiler warning) 13:00 I mean they got caught by the government, not the alien. The alien found them later by when Eddie is about to get killed and venom comes out of the lady and into him and I guess that’s when it happens. Then again, it’s weird how the government knows exactly where they are all the time without any context even though they keep losing them.

I knew Knull would only be a tease I've become so cynical to movies lately that you just know Sony is planning to do some Spiderverse Endgame with Knull. And they'll have Venom team up with Spiderman and Morbius

Venom: The Last Dance (2024) was dumb fun just like the previous two movies, but it still has the same problems like the other movies in this Spider-Man Universe without Spider-Man and I give it an 8/10. I am also at the point where I don't want to see Sony Pictures have the rights to Spider-Man anymore.

They literally had every opportunity in each film to do somthing interesting to build up this character. Venom 1 could have been Eddie having to deal with this parasyte and causing it to actually change his life. Ok so after that scrap the Carnage storyline and have somthing a little less or make Carnage an actual threat that challenges Eddie and Venom to make harder choices but also cuasing them to be opposites .After No way home they had the set up for Venom to come over to the MCU or just have the symbiote left behind for Spiderman. But no they retconned that. Ok so maybe Venom 3 will have some actual stakes that creates Venom and Eddie as actually one being with Eddie fully giving in and acquiring more knowledge on spiderman to take down a potential threat. Ok so no more multiverse until we actually do have a way to connected them with Null. But nope they just choose to make him a set up for his own spinoff......kill me kill this damn sonyverse oml no one wants that. If spiderman 4 is supposed to multiversal then why the hell would they not take the opportunity to clash venom in theier with Null being setup to be in spiderman 4. It was the only thing make me ok with Spiderman multiverse again but no we will get cash grab spiderman film cause they want that no way home high without building a foundation first. Just give my boi a street level film that explores him in college like is that so damn hard
