All your transportation ideas leave out the fact, that public transport is inconvenient, unreliable and disgusting. I'd rather pay much more for the comfort of a personal vehicle than be stuffed into an overpriced, overcrowded metal tube filled with sweat and farts, that is also very prone to delays and best case scenario can only get you near the place you want to get to.
