You are a an amazing Guitar Player. I just can’t say enough just I’m 68 years old and I’m still learning the things you know just I never would’ve just thought of it in the 70s. Keep up the good work you’re awesome I’m trying To learn as much as I can if you find it in your heart to go a little bit slower on your finger ring techniques I would really appreciate it but other than that it is awesome. You are awesome.

Sounds really good! Nice Tony Rice technique. The way you've got the guitar setup, it does sound like a Martin ,like a D28 to me,,, but I'd have to say a lot of your Tony Rice sound comes from the way you're picking and using the guitar pick. Would you mind if I ask what year your sigma is? I have a mid-1970s Sigma.. I keep it at work and I love picking it up and playing on my down time. 🐦

Not exactly sure Jay - but it was seen here on KZbin being played by an American bluegrass band in 1990 so it’s aleast that old - theres doesn’t seem to be to many records you can look up on these - played a D28 back in April fir the first time and I have to say it was way better .. naturally , but still shockin - so was the price tag and that’s the end of that - but yeah there accent and dynamic approach’s that can make these wee guitars sound better - thanks buddy

@chrisbrennanguitar that's all interesting, 👍 and I know what you mean about the price tag on the D28 hahaha,, that's why I never pulled the trigger on one,, came very close one time. 😁🐦

Humbly, I think you might be being a bit too critical of this one. That use of the g# note in the last measure is so slick once you realize what you're doing there, how in the first beat, it functions both as the 2 and also an anticipation of the dominant chord that is played in the next beat, and then again as the 2 note in the third beat. I love how the open b note informed the inclusion of that sus4 and 4 chord sound throughout. As always, there are so many transferable ideas with the closed position stuff, and so many skills practices, like the stretches, string skips, double-stops, articulations, tricky barres, register and position shifts, etc. and it's so musical. I look forward to another amazing year of learning, my friend!

It's on repeat, and every playthrough sounds better than the last. Chris, I am pretty sure you play through these licks a few times until you can play the same lick every take, but don't you think you could pick up your guitar cold and dust off 100 of these licks of the week, each one different, and each one performed perfectly?

I’m susceptible to RSI very quickly- so I can’t and don’t rip from cold - I did find a way to practice long on the same idea and not get problems / I’ll do a vid on that - btw this is part of a “chord explosion” study that’s in the works - will be my fav so far - just got a chest infection today and it’s going to slow me down .. - sucks! “It’s on repeat”?
