Where is this located? So, this house had no insulation? Or was it removed? I guess the argument against the California channel is that it can't be as well insulated as horizontal blocking for attaching an interior wall?
@co-know-proconstructiontips15 күн бұрын
R-15 Insulation was installed after the rough framing was complete, which is pretty typical. And you can pack the backside of that channel with insulation before you set it if you’d like. 👍 Or you can just run some horizontal blocking either way you’re still gonna have a closet.

Technically 16d is 3.5", 10d is 3" nails. Not that it matters much, these days I can't even find 3.5" nails for my nailgun, it's all 3 and a quarter. Thank you for the video, always learning from KZbinrs like you.

Very, very true 16 D typically I can only get from the big box stores in hand drive nails but if you ask the store clerk get me some 16 Ds for the nail guns you’ll get the 3 1/4 x 0.131s smooth shank nails, which is what we’re using here in this gun. very well sad though next time I’ll mention the 3 1/4 0.131s 👍😎

How many coats for a corner like that??
@co-know-proconstructiontips20 күн бұрын
Great question, if you do a skim coat in the mid space of the drywall and you bring it all the way over the corner again that should be all you need so Max two coats if you do it like this. Great question and happy holidays.

Going against the grain always makes a rough edge noticed you went with the grain when you used the planer. I do think you should use things correctly or at least both the same way if you want to give a honest review
@co-know-proconstructiontips20 күн бұрын
Totally appreciate your perspective, but I actually tried it going down the door and up the door and I tried it on the solid wood door not MDF tried it on flat grain and it went against the vertical grain as well and the result was the same on all of these test that tool is sorry to say it not worth the money. Appreciate your feedback. Merry Christmas and blessings to you

Why didn't you use liquid nails with the nail gun? Im work with low income rentals and thats how we do it
@co-know-proconstructiontips21 күн бұрын
Man thrown in liquid nails with your baseboards and shooting them in with nails that’s awesome is going to be a long lasting product. The only issue I have is if you have to replace the baseboard it will do a lot of damage to the drywall when removed. still great tip thanks for your thoughts 👍

Always cope inside corners. This is trash advice
@co-know-proconstructiontips21 күн бұрын
I learned how to cope inside corners when I was eight years old first time I used it and the last time coping is a joke. Big waste of time 45 your inside corners and your fine man everybody wants to overcomplicate crap 💩 anyways, appreciate your comment and your thoughts, but this is great advice. If you know what you’re talking about.

@@alitabattlechicken9732 coping is for carpenters, who like to waste time, bro 45 miters are for people who are trying to get shit done fast and make money by getting the work done, fast and efficient and clean. Carpenters who just pull out their coping saw spend all day stroking their egos with your little coping saw are a waste of time. This is 45 years of experience, talking right here, my dude. 😅

Hi there, I enjoyed this video a lot, especially your perspective about the harness. Totally get it If you were decking over delaminated plywood, do you think code requires it to go into trusses?
@co-know-proconstructiontips22 күн бұрын
Awesome thank you for this comment. Glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate the commentary. Regarding your question, which is a great question by the way.⬇️ If you’re running an additional substrate on top of an existing layer of plywood, that is delaminating, then most definitely your new substrate will have to have fasteners that go through the delaminated plywood and attached to the Framing members, whether it be truss or rafters. Hope that helps 👍
@alanadale429923 күн бұрын
From a safety perspective: If your joists are already nailed to the wall underneath, why not start sheeting up to your blocks or at least throw some sheets on loose so you can work off a flat secure surface instead of on top of the joists and risk a misstep or your blocks falling?Just saying.
@co-know-proconstructiontips23 күн бұрын
You are so so correct unfortunately on this build , we didn’t have the plywood at the job site yet but yes, that is the way lay down your first run of plywood lock it in then you have some solid platform to stand on throw the in all your blocking in at your seams lay down your next row of plywood. This is the best way to do it. You are so correct. Thanks for leaving this. Great comment.

Definitely putting holes in the paper, but it doesn’t matter because there’s drywall going against the installation. Technically, you can use non-faced insulation when you’re installing drywall over insulation. Thanks for sharing

I want to make a hidden bookcase with a 36" opening. However, I want the bookcase to open out instead of in. I can do one door with 5 hinges or 2 smaller doors. I would like the doors/bookcases to open flat when opening the doors. Do you have any suggestions.
@co-know-proconstructiontipsАй бұрын
if you want it to swing out and go from a solid looking panel to a bookcase on the inside when it’s open against the wall, if I’m hearing you correctly, that’s what you want? If that’s the case, then you’ll have to install your hinges on the outside which will expose them to the look and they won’t be hidden unless you put them under some kind of paneling or hide them somehow or miter them into the shelving. there are multiple options as far as hinges go. There are piano hinges. There are also other hinges that you can buy that have a pivot on the top and bottom, but those may only open to a 90 degree when fully opened. I would say for sure whatever hinge you go with build a little mock up and make sure it’s gonna perform the way you want to perform as far as finished paneling goes clearances that you’ll need to make it work. Hope that helps 👍
