A thing was missed in regards to diamonds and caves being "easier to get", diamonds are more difficult to get to. Before strip mining was the best way to get them. Safe, easy, mindless, as long as you kept an eye out for lava pits, but you could easily position yourself to pretty much completely bypass them if you looked at the coords. But now, going into those massive, mob filled caves is better, and going into underwater caves, is both the easiest method, but also tricky in it's own right. Which means you either need tons of doors (On Java), or water breathing potions and multiple enchants, for both your armor and pickaxe

I have 1 critique for this video. you CLAIM to know the point of minecraft as a game but completely ignore the point of minecraft as a game. Minecraft is a SANDBOX, a game that lets you decide on goals and challenges to face on your own. examples for good sandbox games include games from Black&White - civilization sandbox, Dust - Puzzle sandbox, Terraria Minecraft and VintageStory - Survival Sandbox and Noita - Rouguelike Sandbox. the potential challenges and rewards of the game should cater to everyone who plays in the sandbox, but Minecraft decided to not do it. Terrarial lets you play the entire game without progressing the story, beyond the occassional goblin raid and the one time you need to beat Eye of Cthulhu the game is completely peaceful. and after beating the Eye you get the Dryad so you can cleanse the entire world from evil or set up your own evil biomes, but it remembers that it's not a pixel art gallery and still gives you cool tools weapons and other gear to try and push you to challenge bigger bosses and engage with the "story" as you called it. VintageStory is basically the embodyment of what minecraft fails to do. it lacks content, but it doesn't lack RELEVANT REWARDS for the challenges you face. you go underground and face a bunch of monstrous enemies? here are some deep ruins items that will function as makeshift IRON grade weapons for your next delve you clearly want to do that. you go around mining? you can now make higher tier tools so you can mine even better stuff, on top of that it lets you progress in other areas. you domesticate animals and make farms? get extra max HP and access to Linen for your trouble, you probably need it for 2000 other things. hunting animals? fat and hide make good materials for crafting a bunch of hunting supplies AND also open up a ton of recipes that require things like leather. the game WANTS you to keep doing many different things and rewards you for each of them with RELEVANT rewards, Minecraft doesn't. Minecraft goes, you like exploration? here are some new blocks for building stuff. oh, you like combat? here are some enchantments and blocks that helps with building. of course, you like automation and farms right? here are blocks for building. minecraft SUCKS at being a sandbox, and sucks even more at being a survival sandbox.

thank god someone points out that 99% of the complaints abt minecraft are just "i wish the game was more like a traditional video game but ONLY in the way I like it" instead of recognizing that minecraft is a SANDBOX game ALSO HOLY SHIT this guy saying "let me take an aspect of terraria and put it into minecraft" when terraria is BOTH A DIFFERENT GENRE OF VIDEO GAME and he just slapped on the role of the wall of flesh in the LAZIEST way possible, the wall of flesh is MID game content, not late game! Not to mention, in late game terraria you start butchering monsters like crazy! Kind athe point of the game is to become overpowered as hell! so what the fuck is he talking about???

On the whole thing about progressive mob difficulty, I think that unique mob variants like strays, drowned, husks, etc. should appear only at mid game, when everyone has iron tools and armor because some of those guys, primarily drowned(with tridents) and strays, are impossible to deal with until that point. Tho there's the issue of how would the game detect this "mid game"

I don't think that should be the case as all the mobs you listed are biome or location specific variants so each biome has in a way their own challenge and Strays aren't really that bad as their slowness is only slowness 1 so barely anything is noticable in your movement speed and they can easily be beaten or scared off by wolves

I think what people are missing here, is that Minecraft isn't a RPG or an MMO. Minecraft is a sandbox game. Where your only limit is your own imagination. As a 2011 player that has been playing this game for 13 years, I find it baffling that these people "critiquing" the game, are people that are not only missing the whole point of Minecraft, but also following a certain set of steps that they like to follow and play all the time. Kinda like a RPG and an MMO. And if that's the case, then I don't know why you play Minecraft. Because Minecraft is just virtual Legos. In fact, this is the reason why I want an modern End Update. Because an End update can have so many possibilities for the dimension that it wouldn't be boring anymore. It would feel interesting and give the game more layers for its creativity and it's infinite possibilities to shine even more. Because to me, the End Dimension isn't just a place for the final boss. It's also a place where your Minecraft Journey can really begin.

I hope I'm not the only one noticing this but, my issue with the new Minecraft is not that it's boring, my issue is the lack of mob drops when killed and thus lack of use, *this type of thing simply makes the game bloated,* we should be able to get bear fur or something to make armor, heck, imagine if we have ducks, we can grill it, also, imagine if they make the egg more useful, we can cook it into an omelet! They also have this policy of not adding any real-life animal unless it is endangered, they even removed fireflies for a stupid reason when they could just make the frog die when feeding with fireflies like a parrot with chocolate chip cookie or you know...just make the frog don't eat them as environment ambiance, but noooo Mojang have to prioritize their environmentalist agenda instead of actually making the game fun by adding more features, these mobs does nothing, we want more meat/food, more fur/armor type, heck, give us the ability to make taxidermied animal heads since we can already do that with a dragon head. I mean come on Mojang, why not give the mobs more use/drops when killed, the game already indirectly incentivized players to do what players do to villagers anyway, so give us a reason to have polar bears, give a reason to have panda, give us a reason to have the sniffer, so far they don't drop any material we can use for crafting such a fur or meat. Like come on, let us eat bear meat and wear bear fur, it's a game. The same can be said for sniffers, just because it is cute it doesn't mean it have to stay useless, make it drop something when killed. Also DUCKS & OMELETTE! I want this to be in the base game since forever. Also more birds besides the parrot please, add a pigeon and crow at least, that way we can cook fried pigeon or pigeon pie. There have been many times in the past when I ran out of food during my journey but had random chicken eggs I picked up along the way in the wilderness, I literally have potential food in my hand, but I can't cook it into an omelet in a furnace, so I am forced to starve until I find other food like cow or pig. There are times when I didn't bring enough food during my journey, staving in a snowy biome, and I am forced to stare at a polar bear I cannot eat, also why the heck can't we eat the sunflower?! Please please please give us players more food Mojang, let us eat these "decorations", and let us put the fantasy ancient flower into a brewing stand so that we can make tea out of it. Ground up seaweed into pudding/jelly, beetroot & carrot into more cakes, milk into butter or cheese depending on what tool you add in the crafting table such as a shovel, fish into a fish sauce (because tomato do not exist in Minecraft), literally *everything* is edible, but Mojang says noooo, you can only eat these few animals and few fruits. Also, speaking of a bloated game, why would you need to go out of your way trying to find an ink sack just to make a glowing item frame when you can just use glow berries, or idk glowstones dust??? Edit: By the way this is related to "not enough inventory" issue.

9:21 And that's not even considering the fact that Diamond Ore generates less frequently when exposed to air. In addition to balancing it out so it's rarer when caving, it also makes aquifers better for finding diamonds (since the water/lava doesn't count as air, diamond generation is unaffected), allowing for even more unique experiences - it's a completely valid strategy to jump from pool to pool, find diamonds, and if you don't have Aqua Affinity or Respiration on your helmet, it becomes a puzzle of "How do I get these before I drown?" And I don't know how old the original video is, but the Smithing Templates and Netherite Upgrade have given diamonds a greater purpose than just "a couple tools and some armor, one enchanting table, and maybe a jukebox", necessitating that they be more common (since it's either spend 7 diamonds to duplicate it, or go looking for another). 10:22 See, he's playing both sides of the field here. "It didn't do anything, but if you can find something it did, it's actually this instead." 14:46 Funny thing about that: Bedrock Edition already has a better version of the Trident because, in addition to being able to use Loyalty to retrieve it from the Void (which is just a great quality of life feature I wish was on Java), Impaling works completely differently. On Java, it does extra damage to a set pool of aquatic mobs, regardless of if they're in water or not. But on Bedrock, it deals extra damage to any mob that's touching water, _including rain._ This means that, under the right circumstances, the Trident can be more useful than the Sword against every mob except for Endermen and Shulkers (and potentially the Breeze, since it can't be hit by projectiles other than its own, but Impaling still works through the melee attack, so it's mixed).

also no, the SURVIVAl isn't a side quest you have things a little mixed up, the game isn't about building and exploration, the game is about building and survival. exploration was a later feature added that was actually the beginning of the issues of minecraft the issue is that minecraft is a sandbox survival, it's not about exploration, and it's not about rpg, bosses, temples, dungeons etc but the survival aspect which used to be great in beta 1.7.3, is now shit, and has been shit since beta 1.8 with the addition of sprinting and other stuff, and was incredibly hindered by beta 1.3 with the addition of beds the building aspect has taken a massive hit that isn't obvious. sure we have tons of variety, but that's now an issue because building is now difficult, which it shouldn't be, but it is. now people have minecraft building as complex as real architecture or art where there's basically minecraft building theory with gradients and shit. I'm fine with it personally but to a bunch of players it feels like a steep learning curve cause it kinda is. it's overwhelming and it's more difficult than ever to get an idea from your head into your world

THANK YOU so much for making this video - the whole "Minecraft sucks because it's not Terraria" trend is so annoying because creators just fail to recognize what Minecraft is about. It's not about fighting a bunch of bosses and getting lots of new equipment, it's all about letting the player do whatever they want in a large world. If you do want to fight monsters and bosses, Minecraft has plenty of structures and events (like bastions, raids, and the new trial chambers), but if you just want to build, Minecraft provides a lot of blocks and tools for that. Minecraft is my favorite game of all time because I can do whatever I want by myself or with friends.

A fellow Serperior enjoyer! I started the games with Yellow way back in the day (beat it with my Pikachu and a Mr. Mime) and grew increasingly more disinterested with each game because they are incredibly repetitive in many ways. Black and White, though, had me drawn back in. They refined the traditional pokémon formula and achieved all of the things listed above. On top of that, the developers brought back something that made the original game fun in the first place: an entirely new generation of pokémon unique to Unova. The near-complete exclusion of previous generations made everything from exploration to forming a team to developing strategy more engaging because each pokemon was unfamiliar, even if the same basic concepts applied. Most generations generally add to or build upon previous ones, but never add enough to be able to truly exclude older pokémon. This means that with each game you might find yourself sticking to the familiar rather than seeking new pokémon, or being frustrated with rehashed content in search for more. Besides, we got older pokemon in post-game. On top of that was their inclusion in the sequels, which felt more like incentive to explore the same region all over again to see what changed and seek the unfamiliar within a now familiar context than fan service. The sequels also did this as games in their own right, rather than remakes rehashing the same plot. I know this gen v exclusivity decision wasn’t popular though, and perhaps made for a better single-player experience more than anything else. The pokémon are at the core to the pokémon games, so it’s important that aspect is engaging because plots are never the strong suit (B&W were interesting in that respect too though). I mean, I loved my Charizard in X, but the way they gave it as some sort of soft secondary starter that could potentially overshadow the actual starters was kind of ridiculous.

I think one of Minecraft's biggest problems is being the most popular game ever. It has a very diverse playerbase: builders, PVPers, redstoners and highly technical side (see: Scicraft) and people who like exploration. This means that not every update can appease every group. Being the most popular game also means it attracts the worst crowd - "serious gamers". Speaking from my lived experience, these people lack any kind of creativity, not only in games but also when it comes to everything in their lives and themselves. Minecraft is not a game for everyone and that's ok. No game is. But for some reason these people just NEED to have an opinion on it and express it. And as people mentioned: the way to fix all of their problems is mods. Minecraft has a rich and giant modding scene and it's all FREE. Want harder mobs and new armour types? Try born in chaos or similar mods. And this goes for every type of player. Want new passive mobs and more to explore? Alex's mobs and caves, Jung's better structures mods and mods that add new biomes. Add furniture and clutter for interior decoration with Moa decor and dozens of others. New and expansive engeering? Create got you covered. Try new farming and a billion different food recepies with Croptopia. Playing on a heavily moded server myself felt like exploring a whole new game. I don't understand why people are so allergic to mods. I suppose there is a point to be made about the majority of the playerbase playing on Bedrock, which doesn't have mod support but that's a different conversation.

You put in a bunch of effort to get stronger, but then everything else grows wiyh you so you essentially wasted time getting stronger? And what about the large ammount of players who dont want to engage in combat and just want to build, and got the elytra just to make movement easier? Its unspeakable how bad of an idea that is

minecraft isnt a game to rush, but to gather materials and survive with what you have while building what you can with said materials, that has been the core of the game ever since SURVIVAL_TEST was made, and people completely ignoring its core to beat the game as fast as possible completely ruins the experience the game has. i honestly blame this factor on two things; the speedrunning trend, and the end; as both set players an expectation of getting things as fast as possible and not taking their time so they can get those sweet sweet elytras and shulker boxes, and even before it, a good portion of players would just stop playing after defeating the dragon because they already beat the game, and for them, beating the game means its over. which honestly makes me believe that the end dimension and thus the enderdragon fight as they were made back then is severely flawed and completely goes against minecraft's core of a survival sandbox, making players not only rush the game but also think minecraft is some kind of RPG (which it isnt and it will never be one) is what made so many people think the game is boring then and specially now. if youre having problems playing the game because its getting boring for you, make a new world and try expanding your base as much as you can without making mob farms or auto farms, and most importantly, forget the end exists, and you will get that spark of joy of playing the older versions again, just with more content. (btw, you can use the AMPLIFIED world gen to get the world similar to b1.7.3's generation, of course its not a 1:1, but overall its just as good in most cases) (edit: oh yeah and most of the new stinky stuff mojang added recently are such nothing burgers that they always tend to be very difficult to find, and thus, easy to avoid to some extent (and if you dont like structures in your world as some seem to dislike them, theres literally an option on the new world menu to completely remove them)) (edit 2: ok the not beating the dragon tip was already said on the video, but ay, only straightens the point)

I agree with everything in your video but I do want to tell my opinion on some points that agree with both your view and his view. Woodland mansions, ocean monuments, ancient city: I do get how they are useful to people, but personally to me they are all useless and I don’t see any point for personally me to go out of my base and find any or them, which kinda makes me sad cause I really wish there was a reason but there just isn’t any for me and the way I play. Mansions only value is in emeralds, totems, and lapiz blocks sometimes. I don’t trade with villagers, and I don’t enchent stuff that often, and I don’t die most often but even if I do I always play with keep inventory on as it is more fun that way so really a bed replaces the totem for me lol. For the monument, I don’t use presmarine as it is an eh looking block for me, I would use it only maybe once for an aquarium floor or the heart of the sea, as for sponge, I never build something underwater, and even then when I tied using it in creative it is really bad at doing it’s job when building, and as for gold, well it is useful only for rails and golden apples but I almost never use those lol, neither do I trade with piglins. And finally for the city, I don’t care about experience that sculk can help with cause again I rarely enchant or use the anvil, and even if I do need it, I have deep dark under my base! I don’t need the recovery compass cause I don’t travel much and even when I do, again, I play with keep inventory so it I simply would not care about coming back to my spot of death. I don’t care about the discs, enchantment books or the templates either, so really they are all pretty useless to ME. I don’t care about achievements either. For copper, welp I literally never mine it lol, it’s blocks are one of the most ugliest blocks in Minecraft. And the only other things to craft out of it is optifine, and rod that can be replaced by just building out of stone, but man, I haven’t even seen a lightning strike in Minecraft survival any close enough to me. So really to me it is just annoying to encounter copper in the caves cause I want to mine it cause I found it but it has no use to ME lol. I am just one person who’s opinion doesn’t actually matter, but personally to me it is all sad that there is nothing for me to do with those things. I don’t want to go and find the city just to find it lol. Another thing I don’t like is the lush caves and amethyst clusters, sure they are beautiful but I never use them to build cause they are way to hard to find use for in builds, and you can’t craft anything from it, compared to overworld biomes it is really sad, overlord biomes have different colored woods, and most build are made of wood so having many different color of wood is really good, and those that don’t have wood like desert or red desert, are either out of one of the most usefull crafting materials (sand for glass) or are full of colorful clay (easy to use any build due to it being a plain color block) and finnally even have more gold than other biomes. Even jungle that does have wood is cooler due to it having two types of “wood” with bamboo, having two unique crops spawn there, and in the old versions you can even tame cats there but now we have parrots there to tame. Another thing done well are the bastions due to the netherite upgrade with sometimes a netherite scrap that is in it which is worth anything to get. I think if copper amethyst had more use for every type of player that would be awesome, and a way to improve the lush caves is to make one type of the ore spawn more there than other places, for example coal which is really hard to find now adays in newer updates.

Yeah, my only real mechanical problem with "recent" minecraft is how fireworks and elytra interact. Me and my best friend like building large infrastructure projects, and being able to fly makes that irrelevant in vanilla Minecraft. So I play on a modded server with the Create and Immersive Engineering mod, where we've got a respectable rail network going, an electrical grid that breaks down all the time, and a network of service tunnels full of pipes and conveyors below the main level of our base.

Also, as a side note, they improved Minecraft a lot under the hood and made modding for Java Edition easier than ever before. I love making mods for 1.20.1 way much more than 1.16.5, let alone 1.12.2...

See, I was thinking the same thing, but not being a modder myself, I didn't want to claim that was true. Modding Minecraft was SO much harder and so much more unreliable like, 5 years ago. You had to use annoying backdoor processes, and even if it worked (which it often didn't) the game would often be unplayably glitchy or laggy. Now it's download one launcher, press one button, boom you have the mod and it works great.

Why not do both? Cant Mojang expand on building and creativity while also expanding on the game’s progression?

They can, for sure, but saying, "Minecraft is boring now" because the combat progression is intentionally simple is not a good take

The progression thing is also kinda a load a baloney simply because “haha yeah now that I have netherite guess I’m never gonna die now!!! Your pvp is so garbage!!!” “I made a warden fountain and have 58 wardens I can call on standby in my base and even if you get through all that I have a self destruct button underneath the plane of the ground.” There are more ways to fight other players than head on, and when people go about making redstone traps it has a sense of smart alec smugness to it that I cannot get over

I think that the thing I hate the most about people speaking about difficulty and specially player who played the game often is that they always said the game get easier while being completely obvious to the fact that it's just them remembering that they know the game better now. I'm pretty sure I put someone with absolutely no knowledge of the game in a survival world in the last update and I'm pretty sure their first night would look exactly the same has it was for us years before. Minecraft didn't got easier, it got more convenient.

A ton of the changes have just been QOL things. Like, basic mobs aren't really a threat to you anyway, so why not lower the light level where they can spawn so that you don't need thousands of torches to mob-proof your base? The caves and unlit wildlands will still be full of them anyway.

@@thehayze259 exactly It's less painfull to mob proof because it require less time and less farming It's not easier has the game will still be the same when you begin, It's just cost less time so you can do more thing on the side, like building thing (just what you said il the video).

Terraria is my favorite game. I love everything about it. But even *I* find it fucking preposterous when these people just complain endlessly about how the game feels lifeless, or how proggression is bad now, or how old Minexraft was more fun. Shut the fuck up. Play Terraria or Dark souls, play a different game, stop living in the past or some shit. Ever just considered you're playing the wrong game? Like stfu

I think that just use mods is a perfect rebuttal to these people because they want a different core game, a modified one. Go install dawncraft so you can have your turbo difficult combat exploration rpg. However, I have to acknowledge minecrafts faults in that many seemingly basic features are absent, year 12 of asking for vertical slabs. As much as people yap about how it wouldn't feel like minecraft anymore, it's a sandbox game. More toys in the sandbox won't hurt. Let us have a ridiculous amount of blocks and redstone bits. I won't claim minecraft isn't fun or anything close, but i will express my frusterations with newer updates.
