Especially those who want to try straights but are bothered by all the upkeep required. I still have a love for real straights, but those are collected prices now, with my Shavette lineup doing all the work.

@@quitemartinez2764 hey! Hmmm tough question, I like both, but that being said they shave identical to each other and now that I have a beard, I use the Kamisori for my neck more often as it’s a bit more nimble for that application.

I have all 4 adjustable razors that I was fortunate enough to acquire from my grandfathers. I was the only child as well as only grandchild. These razors mean so much to me, I remember my grandfather removing the blade and lathering me up and I would shave off the lather. A tradition that I continued with my own son. The toggle is neat but I prefer the twist to open as you can open it only a little and swish in the water and it will be perfectly clean a slight twist and your back to shaving. The black beauty is my least favorite of the four. The fat boy is hands down the winner, then the slim, followed by the toggle and the black beauty being my least favorite. That in no way means it is a bad razor, if I didn’t have the others I would not hesitate to throw in a Derby Extra blade or a Feather into it and shave away. Goodbye and please pass on shaving memories to your little ones whether they are a boy or a girl. By the way my wife prefers the toggle, good thing my grandfather owned a hardware store so I was blessed with multiple ones brand new. But the ones they used are the ones I treasure they might look a little dull but when I shave with them it’s like rolling back the years and being with them. I never knew my dad as he never came home from Vietnam but my grandfathers tried to raise me right. Create memories with your family will Gillette the best a man or a woman can get.(LOL

@@kevinhouston38 oh man, that’s a heck of an incredible story right there! Having your Grandfathers razors is awesome, and man, you have the 4 piece set of awesomeness!! I have 2 Fatboys and 1 Super adjustable and I’m torn.. love the shave on both, but definitely dig the longer handle on the Super 109. I still need to add a Slim to the collection and would love to find a toggle for the right price someday. Thanks so much for sharing that awesome story brother, and enjoy those shaves!

There are so many artisan KZbin fanboys out there (mostly just shills…and yes, we all know who you are) prone to over-the-top hyperbole about literally every soap, razor, brush, balm or splash that is their flavor of the day. I’m new to your channel but there was something about your endorsement of this Aylesworth Signature Soap and Splash) that hooked me. Well, today I checked it out and WOW, I was blown away! That scent was completely intoxicating. The luxurious heaps of slick and smooth lather was just SO FRIGGIN GOOD! I used my Apex SS (.68 plate) with an AccuForge blade. It was one of the best shaves I’d had this year! Build it,they will come! My new favorite soap.

I like a Shavette for the low entry price compared to a straight razor, I wanted the experience and feel badass while shaving, sending a straight razor away for honing or honing it myself, strop it and all that is not something I'd like to do right now, yes, I cut myself the first time I shaved with a shavette, but it was not big deal and just made me want to do it again and get better at it, I'm so excited to receive my own shavette with astra platinum blades because my first experience was with something cheap, but hey, it got me hooked up.

@@999samus7 I hear you on that brother! I also got tired of all the maintenance and use shavettes exclusively now, albeit I do prefer AC shavettes, I think some DE shavettes are definitely sufficient to get people hooked and than they look for more premium options to explore and enjoy.

I was gifted a Yaqi Romulus razor and have only tried the Kai Pink Captain Titan Mild blades that came with my gift. I absolutely love the Schick Prolines, sharp, smooth, and longevity seems on par with Feather Pros, have one Prolines that’s on its 20th shave and it’s still going strong. All the best brother!

well i have had a similar “knock off” for around 3 years and to be fair its still going , don’t use it a whole lots but had a fair few shaves on it . but definitely not the quality of an original but not the price tag either . i got it to try it the bought the original . think it was around $7.00 so cant really complain 👍

Nice to see a J Mac video! This is such a good option for people who are considering buying a straight. Most don't want to spend money in case they don't like it, so they end up getting a cheap half DE shavette and quickly give up. I'm glad you put this video out. I just hope the quality is consistent from razor to razor.
