'Joy To The World' is now officially the worst ever Doctor Who episode, beating out 'Timelash'.

Let's be honest, this was garbage. If it was not for Gatwa's performance it would be unwatchable. This reminds me of some of the worst Matt Smith episodes where it was purely Matt Smith carrying the weight of the show alone. A reason why 13's run was so poor was that Whitaker simply could not shoulder that burden in the way Smith and Capaldi could when given such bad material at times. However they need to keep letting Gatwa do the comedy and stop trying to force this unearned, unending sadness into him. Tenant could do the melancholy while still being a joyful person in general most of the time, and his outbursts felt earned and had gravitas when delivered. He spent his whole first season simply having fun with Rose pretty much with only the usual peril of the week to worry about. It wasn't till he lost Rose that they let him start to become more nuanced which by that time was well earned tragedy. They are trying to force on Gatwa the weight of every other Doctor, which they have never really done before. Yes, Ecclestone came with some baggage from the time war, but not too much. This second season they need to stop going for quite such big concepts, social or political commentary and large emotional punches every week and find the fun again in the show. I've just finished a watch through again of season 4 and it's hard to understand why RTD can't even remotely capture any of that same magic. Even the weaker episodes are lightyears ahead of almost everything that came afterwards.

Having the main charecter commit suicide on Christmas was an….. interesting choice.

I think this is the second time this season we've seen villengard and they represent a major issue. A faceless character less villain.

Joy kills her Mother. This is another Moffat-ism. He doesn't reality check his own stories and regularly accidentally inserts utter horror. Joy becomes part of a Self Fulfilling Prophecy and in believing her Mother dies on Christmas Day, travels to Christmas Day to 'collect her' and in doing so causes her death. Well done Joy. I do like what you did at 10:06 - "She swallows that bull..." LOL - Fat Sham!!! Honestly for the big name guest star she was awful and even the DW shills who were invited to the preview screening thought so. The reviews following the preview were all talking up how good the hotel chick was and Joy - in both character and actress - were hardly mentions. When your reviewers are talking up a sub character that adds nothing and could have literally been 100% removed from the story as the best bit you know the overall story is going to be utter rubbish.

My sister lapped this trash up, but I cannot criticise Woke Who in front of her or she'll disown me completely.

Did it suck ?, well all the shows prior 2019 I've seen several times, but this like every other after 2019 you only need to see once, and there are some I don't want to watch.

this is only a small part of the video but i find it weird that people from the west found the bathing scen controversial because i, a full red blooded american, also took family baths with my dad, mom, sister, grandpa, etc etc. this wasnt everytime one of us had to bathe, but we did have moments when we did. just kinda weird knowing this was weird for most people. the more you know.

Even the pirate sites haven't downloaded the xmas special, that's how bad it must be. My lawn looks good though 😂

The script of this episode's is utter nonsense. Moffat says that he needed 4 weeks to write this dire script, maybe 12 weeks next time would be better to get a script that isn't a mash up of clichés, tropes and a chain of plot holes. In the other hand, this Disney phase of Doctor Who is going to slowly killing a concept with half a century of history that has become too mainstream for it's own good. Too much fantasy and pap, too little science fiction and poor "ideas" for plots arcs... I'm not looking forward to the next season, and I believe that a new regeneration won't save this show of boredom and cheap sentiment. Finally, 4 out of 10 is too generous for this bad, baaaad episode which even the presence of Coughlan and minor character Anita cannot save from plot disaster.

"I must bend my will to the algorithm ,That never ending hungry machine that helps keep the lights on" Oh gee, I wish I had an audience to help me do that, Jesus christ where do I begin with this episode? it was unbearably boring for me, it has quite a promising start with The Doctor showing up in diffrent locations and then it does a sitcom speedrun, the dinosaur eats the briefcase then they lose it for a couple billion years and then they magically find it again with little to no explanation only for Joy to become the star of Bethlehem so that the wise men can find Jesus Fing Christ, and let me take a guess: The Doctor is one of the wise men... with the writing of the show I wouldn't be surprised if this will be the case in a future episode.

4:46 I review bombed it for this, but not because I have a problem with gay people. I have a problem with the fact that the Doctor was not allowed to be gay on screen during the Whitaker era when it made sense, but now we have this instead, and it does not work as well. We have watched the Doctor pine over women since 2005, so having Whitaker continue to do the same just felt like a logical progression. Now you mean to tell me that he has just discovered that he actually prefers men? You can't even say that it's unique to the 15th doctor either, because it started with 14. So what? When the doctor split into two people, one maintained liking women and the other started liking men? I'm just going to go with that, because it... that still doesn't fucking work. ... This show is the epitome of what people refer to as woke trash.

But why did they make the honeycomb hive turned 90° to they way a hive is actually made. Half the honey on the underside would drip out covered or not covered everyone who has raised bees will notice it first thing “bee”upset haha maybe they had to make it look like a modern building ig but it actually makes no sense other than looks which for a tv show it is for looks

its a 4/10 at best. it would be much better if they split up the ideas as the time hotoel is cool but wasted with out more of an episode to focus on it. the year the doctor spent felt completely written to their goal but could have been more ambtion if the episode was not so crowded.

For real though, what is it with Moffat and lesbians? He HAS to at least mention them in every episode he touches.

There is a lot of plot holes and thing to poke holes in this episode but some of your ones just feels like you weren’t paying attention. The shrine and how the Doctor knew anger would remove it were explained.(briefcase has a psychic field which basically makes ppl into fanatics or religious towards it + that same field breaks under strong emotions which is why joy was saved). Anyway even taking all that I really liked this episode yh it was silly and not the best and there was bare things to critique but at the end of the day it was a fun enjoyable episode and I was fully immersed for the hour it was on.

I laughed at the part where joy's mom just gets hoovered into the sky. The way they showed it was like Joy forcefully took her.

I do feel like Harry has still lost the plot. Even when I agree with him, he often still misses the obvious. "How did the doctor know making her angry would release it?" Well maybe the very obvious lines throughout their interactions where it's clear that the control slips. That maybe works. "She swallows that BS without questions!" It's almost like she was being hypnotized and integrated into something that copies and replicates personalities to some degree Harry come on man. I don't like this episode that much either (ironically we both love the same part too) but this review is poorly researched I genuinely do not understand how you feel okay with releasing this review to the internet. Also I gotta say, Nicola did a terrible job in the role to be honest. I don't think I've seen such an unconvincing performance in doctor who for a while

15 years ago today was the " I don't wanna go" end of time 2 episode

The episode honestly just made me sad that ruby's the 15th doctor's companion, not anita, or trev. they both had so much better chemistry with him (and we could do with a male companion that actually has his own identity unlike with dumb dumber and dumbest). Plus why did they decide to make christianity canon (or at least heavily implied to be)? actually wild creative decision

My favourite part was when the Doctor said he'd never lived life one day at a time in the right order forgetting that the last 4 incarnations are currently or were forced to do just that. Oh and the sonic working on the wooden mop. That was great stuff.

I knew the Christmas Special was coming this year, but over time I actually forgot it was on. I only remembered it was on when I changed the channel to BBC 1 to watch Wallace and Gromit, and just caught the end of it. I used to be a massive DW fan back in RTD's first era and even to some extent with Moffat. But it says it all that I forgot about the special even happening. Speaking of Wallace and Gromit, if you can please review Vengeance Most Fowl! It would be nice to hear your opinions, and it sounds like some highly positive ones too!

Doctor Who? There is no point anymore. When they attacked William Hartnell's time as the Doctor, I walked, and no one has given me a reason to go back.

Having Wallace and Gromit after this was like a star emerging bright after escaping a black hole 😭
