Never heard this version before. Not a fan of Mud. Couldn’t stand Les Gray.

It makes you wonder how many Newport fans travelled to East Germany in 1981…..

They must’ve been the biggest hype out there because Look - In weekly magazine relentlessly featured photos , pin ups, features & competitions encouraging interest in these guys yet my nipper & i whom knew every act & song played on daytime BBC R1 couldn’t name one song by these lads. Thanks to a retro channel covering Tomorrow People i finally appreciated they were an actual band because according to him Flintlock donated their drummer to boost interest in the sci fi show . Sparks were our cup of Tizer to be honest 😁👍🐢

Tommy Tynan was a prolific goal scorer in the lower leagues back in the day but that penalty miss was dreadful. He was so lucky to get a second go at it to complete his hat trick. How the goalkeeper got himself sent off in all that is completely baffling.

This was written by Ian Tyson in 1962 and recorded by Ian and his wife Sylvia --- Neil Young had no input into this song (other than he admits it is his favourite song) -- didn't like Keith Chegwin but this is a good effort

Sadly by the time this track was released the band had completely lost direction. They were changing their name to The G Band but hadn't completely shaken the images, still wearing quite glam looking clothing.

I remember hearing the "Bananas" song on the Dr. Demento show, back in the 70's. Never did understand the song, and not sure if it was supposed to be humorous at all, and I still find no humor in it.
@dialNforNinja Жыл бұрын
It's not so much overt humor, as just being absurd nonsense. It's in line with the "loving you has made me bananas" line, at least, which makes it more coherent than most Phish songs 🙃

I've become aware of this only since yesterday thanks to an uploading by the 'Rare British TV' KZbin channel of the entire edition of 'Ed and Zed' (7th November 1970) from which this performance is taken. I wouldn't have put Creedence Clearwater Revival in the same territory as Mud! I saw Mud in the later part of the 1980s, in rather less stellar times for them than the times of 'Tiger Feet' & co., at one of the end-of-year parties at Nottinghamshire College of Agriculture, so, like those children - who would have been contemporary with myself - I've shaken a leg or two to Mud!

I didn't know Mud recorded this 😐Also I just heard a slightly different version, which is on a 70's compilation, it's attributed to Showaddywaddy but doesn't have the timpani drums and sounds a bit odd, sounds more like this version but slightly different again 🤔
