If you look at the current tax brackets, you'll see that these "tax cuts" would actually raise taxes by 1.45% for anyone making up to $12,500 and only lower taxes by 0.5% for anything between that and $50,000 while lowering the tax burden by 1.25% for anyone making more than $50,000. In the end, this is just an income tax increase for the minimum and low wage worker while ONLY being a tax cut for the highest earners in the state. Along with the sales tax increase, this whole thing is disproportionately impacting low income people, forcing THEM to pay more to cover the corporations and rich people that'll end up paying less taxes.

What they probably are trying to do is force people to invest in the market by making it the only thing close to some sort of security there is. They believe that by removing all other forms of social security it will force people to take jobs and work more then they otherwise couldn't even imagine doing, just to be able to afford investing in the market in order to get any sort of quality of living. The theory is that it will be boosting domestic market in a circular loop were people invest more and more into the market which in theory would make companies grow forever. The import tariff policy is the largest give away that supports this theory. The problem here is that without massive exports it's extremely inflationary and what Trump is betting on is that US will win all the tariffs trade wars and be given concessions. But that's not gonna happen. All economies in this modern day of age have completly different options then what I think Trump and the Republicans realize. This is a similar mindset that when Putin thought Europe wouldn't have the options to adapt and replace their energy import and similarly how Europe and the US thought Russia would have problems finding new buyers for their energy. The countries and trade agreements where US would put tariffs on will just find a new buyers while tariffing US right back leading to a stalemate that just increase inflation. The second problem is domestic issues. People aren't really gonna like living in such conditions where they have to work 12-16 hours a day just in order to make things go around. Then you have all the people that for intrinsic reasons wouldn't be able live such a life. Conservatives always underestimate variability of genetics and biology by trying to create a rather narrow framework for people to exist in. The fact is that the only ones privilege enough to get the sort of social security that they reject to those falling outside the framework in any system is the very rich conservative politicians and billionaires themselves. The truth is that what they deny to other people they always reap themselves when they have the opportunity to do so. There's no chance in hell many of themselves would enjoy living in the system they creates if they weren't the rich conservative.

Well, good luck on paying for your schools and roads among other things. If you're not paying taxes to government, you're paying private businesses. You're not escaping losing your money, it's just going somewhere else.

You don't have sales tax on grocery items!!!!! What! Australians are getting ripped off. We have to pay it on everything except for bread, milk, cream, cheese, and eggs. Sales tax sucks!

I am not sure which state it was, Kansas maybe? But they did something similar. It was a massive tax cut by a republican government. Their typical argument, it will pay for it self with more growth bla bla. End of story? The growth didn't happen. The deficit in their budged exploded and they had to make massive cuts to almost everything from schools to infrastructure, you name it. Got so bad they had to roll back a lot of those tax cuts at some point. Trickle down economics just doesn't work. And it seems some have to learn this lesson over and over again ...

I do like "progressive" sales taxes. Nothing on necessities. Very moderate tax on general stuff that people might want but definitely don't need. And a very, very high tax on luxury products and services.
