All I want is to play my drums; enjoy doing it and don't be a nuisance for my neighbours. The Zildjian Alchem-E seems like THE instrument to do that with. However: I don't want to be bothered with 'USB-C straight into a mac using Logic Pro'! My laptop (Windows, Apple or Linux) had nothing to do with this! Just make a nice sound for me on an instrument that makes me feel like I'm playing the drums. I'm never going to 'doctor' anything! Just give me the feeling! Will the Zildjian Alchem-E (Bronze, Silver, Gold, 'Any-Metal') do that? This video makes it appear so.

ATV entry level module sounds more authentically acoustic including the cymbals, overall a better sounding module for $300!!! Hope atv will be around!

The cymbals samples are great and seem to have variety throughout the dynamic range. The numerous drum tones are very organic and nice sounding, but lacking in velocity variation. Zildjian needs to get back in the studio and record more samples or create some variations with additional processing.

I agree. The shells have seemed lacking in the same realism that the cymbals have. (Makes sense for a cymbal company I guess?) Maybe running the shells through some other MIDI software like GGD or SSD would make them sound better, but then just keep the Zildjian cymbal sounds. Unless of course the problem is the actual velocity triggering...

I feel like this kit sounds really akin to a live mic'd up acoustic kit which is a good thing, and paired with those cymbals being able to blend in sonically in a live setting, seems it would solve the "thwack" issue in smaller venues compared to traditional e-cymbals.

Nice playing. And nice informative video. The drums are nice looking but the sounds is not really on par with the price, imho. I mean… the cymbals are quite nice sounding but the rest of the kit has too much machine gunning going on to ever consider buying it; for me, at least. I think that, with all the progress made so far about e-drums, it’s not acceptable machine gunning anymore, at least on that price range. And I also think that it’s not acceptable that someone have to buy this e-drum kit just to build the “perfect kit” using the cymbals of this one kit and the rest using another module (like mimic pro, i.e.) When someone spends so much money, should have bought something that has the whole package that sounds good, no compromise, no extra thing to add or buy. But still here we are. Meh.

IMPORTANT! If you got the DP2000 and you want to add samples or sounds you have to get a FAT32 or FAT16 USB and use WAV files. If you want to upload a song or melody, in the USB you have to create an album called SONG (all capital letters) and you just save the WAV file in there. Then, connect the USB to the DP2000 and click the SONG Button and the files that you added to the USB should be shown in the DP2000 screen. To play it just choose the file and click the PLAY Button next to the DP2000 screen. If you want to upload a sound and trigger it in one of the pads, you create a folder called WAVIMPORT (All capital letters), place the WAV file in there, connect the USB to the DP2000 and go into the settings and look for an option called WAV Import or something like that (My DP2000 is in Chinese so I don't know the exact name of that option) and you should see the WAV files. Choose one and import it and then go to the option where you can change the sounds of the pads, and the WAV file you imported should appear there. Assign it and that's it. I hope this helps since I had to spend a while to find how to do it.

The cymbals seem really nice, i wonder if they will make them available for other kits with a 1/4 " jack ? Probably very pricey if'n they do. Great video.i was down that way last year on vacation, but regretfully, didnt get a chance to check out your shop. Maybe next time

Probably about 90% of those who are watching this want to see a sound comparison for volume on the cymbals compared to rubber pads, and it would be nice for toms with and without the bottoms.

Soooooo many missed opportunities. It's as if the R&D team were newcomers to the already well established industry and thought "hey let's start from the very beginning and use cat-5 cables..." 😅. Like, limiting the number of cymbal inputs to 6, lack of interoperability etc etc See you in 2030 when you've caught up to 2024 standards.

Other than getting direct outputs for FOH, what are the pro's of sending the wireless into the 50X module as opposed to sending to the PC soundworks directly? Isn't the Soundworks drums samples superior to those found on the 50X? Really just need the Roland thin e-cymbals & hi-hat mated to the DWe kit and make them wireless as well. Getting an upgraded wireless hub that includes direct outs would seem the way to go.
@Edrumcenter
@Edrumcenter Ай бұрын
This is the only way you can use a DWe shellpack with Roland cymbals right now. The other benefit is you can use the Roland TD-50X direct outs ( all 10 of them ). Saving you having to buy an interface for more outputs. If you want to trigger the DWe Soundworks software you can still do so by using the MIDI out of the TD-50X.

Maybe real cymbals should be included with DWe sets or VAD706 series and include a wireless mic that attaches to the cymbals stands to patch them through. That way you get the best of both worlds. Just thinking & throwing out ideas.

Starting around 6 minutes Tony plays through the patches. The backing track on this video is also this unit. So that should give you an idea of what the sounds are like. Listen with good headphones or studio monitors for the best representation of the sounds.

Hi, is it possible to upload loops or short parts of songs but not from drums? Let's say my band wants to play Radiohead's Karma Police but we don't have a piano/keyboard player, can I upload that piano intro so when I hit one pad, that piano part will play? Thanks in advance for any information on this.

Agreed! We feel they should put the wireless tech into Roland cymbals but still make them able to be plugged in as well so they work with older / other modules.

Tried the gold kit again at Dave's Drum Shop in Ottawa (see my previous comment) after the "release" version of the software was installed. Big improvement, but, sadly, the software is still "alpha" and the kit was released way too soon. There are still basic triggering errors. Far fewer, but still enough to wreck a performance. E.g. do a loud single stroke roll on the floor tom and you'll get random rim hits every second or so. To be fair, I didn't look around for crosstalk adjustments (but I shouldn't have to!). Firmly hitting with the stick tip in the usual ride zone of the ride cymbal occasionally puts in spurious crashes, though not nearly as many as before. Worse is the bell, which does not register the bell sound in certain zones that are obviously part of the bell unless you hit it hard. The module is still very slow, taking several seconds to switch to the next kit, and losing "next" button pushes if you do more than 2 in a row. At least they fixed the problem with the scroll wheel for kit selection -- by removing it! The worst problem is the poor transition between samples on the drums. For each drum, there's a stick velocity that's at a cusp: play the tiniest bit harder and the drum gets much louder with a vastly different sound. I would only possibly recommend this kit if you're a metal drummer, you're content with dialing in just one kit, and you have two playing volumes: very loud and even louder. One tip: out of the box, the floor tom and snare had severe hot spots in the center, but tightening the heads a quarter-turn completely fixed that. It's hard to understand what might have happened internally at Zildjian. Obviously they'd know about the competition, in particular the standards Roland has for its equipment that's positioned for professionals. Maybe there's some competition we don't know about yet? Maybe they were spooked by Roland's purchase of DW? Though they don't really have anything great yet. I find the cymbals in the new crazy-expensive wireless DWe kit to be annoying since they're so loud they cut through headphones unless you have them turned up to 11. Also, the kit has perceptible lag which probably isn't a musical issue but is annoying nevertheless (to me at least, maybe since I'm used to Roland's v-drums).

This was the most negative review I've listened to - perhaps because it was early or because it was reviewed before having much experience with it. Most of the reviews I've listened to were extremely enthusiastic, and the module comes with ways to easily fix or adjust most of the problems that were pointed out.
