thank you. I was wondering about the transition from Islamic to Christian palace. The round court from Charles V came after the Jews and Muslims were kicked out (probably most died). One wonders why they did not destroy the masonry and fill the walls with shallow Christian icons. Did Charles and others not care for religious fanaticism? Did the artificial streams and the fountains help cool the courtyards. I have some in my suburban gardens. I guilt them for the sounds and sights of falling water, but I cannot tell if they cool the air at all. Thank you.

I think much of Karnak has been restored and when it was discovered it a pile of rubble. Some of it was standing but I think was reassembled with the help of archaeologists. It was found around 1600 and I imagine much of restoration took place in between 1700-1930
