My 50 cal Renegade could possibly shoot that good if I had a pair of younger eyes. 😆 There is a blur between the front and rear sight.

Nice rifle. I have a TC " Buckey carbine " 1-48 twist with a factory TC peep sight. They made a limited run of those little rifles in the 80's and only produced around 300-400 of them . Looks like new and shoots lights out !!!

Do you size the bullets after you apply the patch?

I think it's funny all the folks suggesting the wrong size patches are being used when the guy stacks them in one hole at 100yds and bangs gongs artillery distances away lol. F'n internet experts 😂

Idaho lewis: Please try a thicker patch and then do a KZbin. I always need a starter first, before the ramrod. Been shooting MLers since the 70s. When you have too thin of a patch with the ball, the charge blows by the patch and destroys it.

Very nice shooting. Impressive! I just recently bought one of these rifles. As we know it is difficult to find manufacture dates for them. I am wondering when your friend built his kit? Mine was built from a kit, serial # K 6956. I assume it is older due to the 4 digit number, and the K indicates kit gun. Is your friends gun lower or higher? The only noticeable difference is that the screw escutcheon on the left side of his gun is a small brass piece, and the one on my gun is inlayed brass with a fairly ornate escutcheon. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Took my TC Pa Hunter to the range today figuring In would like to take a deer with it after 23 years of ownership. It's a nice looking gun and I've taken good care of it, though I sent it back to TC around 15 yrs. ago for a soft frizzen. Also had the barrel cut and re-crowned to remove the QLA figuring that was the problem. TLDR version is did 2F, 3F and now 3F Swiss with .490-495 balls and .010-015 patches. 70-80 gr. BP. Also, the .010 patches I lubed with Bore butter were in such great shape I could have re-used them. It's a nice, but frustratingly inconsistent gun. Last week got a 3-4" inch group at 50 yds. Now a mix of ok and fliers.

I am using pre lubed Wonder lube patches, and after I shoot, they look like the ones you show using the overpatch, even with 90 grains under .50 ball. I guess different patches react differently.

I'm asking this out of genuine curiosity: is there a particular you're trying to keep the patch from getting shredded?

Very good video, thank you. I am now disappointed. I just bought a TC Hawken today and it is beautiful. However, When I barely touch the trigger it goes off. I am not exaggerating, it is about 2 oz. It is dangerous. I thought I would be able to adjust the trigger pull. According to you, and one part of the manual, I am wrong. I did the adjustment that you did here, but now I do not know what to do about the super too light trigger. On page 28 in the manual, it says the firing trigger is adjustable, (in the picture under the warning) but it doesn't say how. The manual contradicts itself. Any thoughts on that?

Too much powder and too thin of a patch is why it's burning and shredding the patch. You need the right combo...not an over powder patch

I have that exact same barrel in a Hawken stock. I was thinking of trying some Lee R.E.A.L 250 grain bullets in the round ball barrel. The Lee bullets did OK in a 1:48 at 50 yards but nothing all that impressive. I would like to hunt deer during our muzzleloader season here in Maine and shots over 100 yards in the maine woods are rare. My gut tells me trying to work up a load in my Green Mountain barrel with those Lee bullets is a waste of time since it shoots awesome at 100 yards with .490 roundball. what do you think? thank you in advance.
