Amazing DVII such detail. The DVII was without a doubt the best fighter of world war 1. I have been a fan of world war 1 aircraft since the early 1970s. I even met a world war 1 camel pilot back then. (I'm a British expat living here in Nevada) Sadly my flying skills are not good enough for such aircraft as the DVII sopwith pup or camel. Maybe 1 day?

I will pass on the compliments to the builder. It would have been quite an honor to have met a Camel pilot! Nevada is gorgeous! With some practice and a little sim work, I’m sure you could handle a biplane. Landing them it seems is the most difficult part. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

Just a reminder to everybody if you don’t think you can do the sanding mod I ordered the vortex generators from the horizon, carbon cub 1.2 m and just glued them on that made a huge difference. It didn’t stop the tip stall, but instead of snap it turned it into mushand it was easier to recover.

Just saw this, read some of the comments, and wanted to share. First let me say that tinkering, modelling, and modding is a great way to enjoy this hobby, done a bunch of all three myself. My buddy Dustin owns this plane and has a lot if experience flying it. I've flown his, as have two other pilots at our field...all with success landing. It may also be important to mention that Dustin is a working aeronautical engineer. We have had success without modding anything, and did two videos to hopefully instruct/help people with the landing technique. You are absolutely correct that this one will bite you if the landing technique is wrong, and you are probably absolutely correct in saying the wingtips are molded wrong as well. This is a great mod you're showing here, very well done. That said, just to play devils advocate...Greg has the right equipment to do this, clearly lots of experience using that equipment, and has the confidence to do it right. All of that is really important (That was Dustin's concern with modding airfoils). When we suggest that proper technique works to be able to land this one smoothly, that is only because we have done it, and it worked with no mod. I'm really glad I saw this (I was researching the new 40mm Xfly). In hindsight, to be fair...Dustin and I are pretty high skill level pilots, as are the other two guys that flown it at our field. Also to be fair, if it was easier to land, that wouldn't hurt our feelings, lol. Just something to think about maybe...just as a less skilled pilot might not be able to master landing this one the way we did, a less skilled modeller with less equipment...or both... may not be able to pull off this mod with the precision Greg did. Many might just make things way worse. It seems easy when you can do it...just like landing it without the mod seems for us. Suggesting trying this mod for some modellers may be as impossible for them to do correctly as us suggesting to learn proper technique. I have to admit and give credit where credit is due...it looks easy to land after it, I'm just not convinced every guy out there with one can do it like Greg did. I agree on one thing for sure, it is a mod that works when it is done with the precision Greg did it with, and MOTION NEEDS TO DO THIS. That will solve the issue for all of us. Again, great vid man.
@redbeardreviewsrc
@redbeardreviewsrc 27 күн бұрын
I agree with you 100%. I did a technique video as well. I just wanted to make landing it more easily repeatable and survivable. It is also however possible to do this mod with a sanding block, and it would probably be an even safer way to proceed if you are less experienced. Perhaps I should have mentioned that in the video. I will share it in the description. I appreciate you watching and sharing the info.

Tomcat Charlie here I’m a big fan of your channel by the way one thing to remember I agree with you as well. We are a mile high and during the summer our air density just sucks so that makes it tough on us as well. I guess we should emphasize in the video. The vortex generators seemed to help a lot as well. It made that snap to the right so much nicer and easier to recover and all we did was glue them on thanks for the comment. I’m the short guy in the video.
@ModelAV8RChannel
@ModelAV8RChannel 27 күн бұрын
@CharlesZodiac Hey man, thanks so much for the kind words! No doubt everything you guys are doing is working to make this one easier to land. I'd love to see motion take care of it but there's a lot more to that than it seems. The way molds are designed and tooled, they would literally have to retool an entire new mold to fix the wings. Tooling a new mold that size can be as much as a very nice car. It's good that you guys are sharing a way for people to make it better because it's probably not likely that motion does it anytime soon given the cost.

Awesome flying. I have owned two 78” stretched to 80” Dave Platt T-28s that I built with Super Tiger 2500 glow motors with Robert Retracts and a Byron Originals 102” version T-28 with a 78cc gas twin cylinder Engine that I also built. All 15:17 flew excellent. When I saw the Carbon 2 meter T-28 I wanted another one. I sold off all my gassers and really missed the T-28. Now I’m different than you, and love the yellow Navy paint scheme. I look forward to flying it soon after Christmas . The 80” versions had weighed in at around 15 pounds all up, so I’m assuming this bird weighs a whole lot less and should fly like a home sick angle.

Uh-Oh! Jon @ 2-bros is gonna get butt-hurt because he’s swearing (quite illogically) that the problem is the pilots are defective rather than the wing.
@redbeardreviewsrc
@redbeardreviewsrc 29 күн бұрын
It's not fair to tell people they just need to get better when he(2bros) has NO CLUE their experience level! Especially when there is VERY obviously an issue with the airfoil! There are MANY people who have had issues with the 64mm Tomcat. ALL of them need more practice, and only 2bros is good enough?? If you do carrier landings (fast and hard landings) and never flair it while slow, you are fine. However that's not good on the gear or plane. If you are given planes by a company (like 2brothers are) the company probably doesn't like it if you say their plane is defective in ANY way. Thanks for watching and commenting!
