Hi Kent. I'd like to express my immense gratitude to you. I have been following your videos for many years now. When I first started learning jazz on my own, your channel was the one that really got me up to speed. During those years, I have been taking lessons with a teacher, and this year I'm taking it to the next level : I'm going to study at the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris with incredible jazz musicians, and I'm also building my own channel to help french self-taught pianists take the same path as I did ! That's all thanks to you, and to the way you inspired me back then. I think you really should know that your work litterally changed my life, and had me trade a career in computer science for one as a musician and teacher, for the love of music and what it brings to the world ! So thank you Kent, from the bottom of my heart and accross an ocean, for your precious work.

Curious, what were you doing specifically within the computer science field?

@@humanerror7 I've worked for 15 years as a software engineer. The last 3 of which were in a small independent video game studio based in Paris where I was a senior backend engineer, but the 2023 crisis in that field caught us and the company went bankrupt. So instead of looking for another job in a company that could never be half as good as this one I decided to do my own thing. We are lucky to have pretty good coverage in France when we get fired for economic reasons, basically this case allows us to keep being paid the same salary for a year, so it was the right time for a shift. :)

@@humanerror7 I had been a software engineer for 15 years. The last 3 years I was a senior backend engineer in a small independent videogame studio based in Paris (we were working on a game named Stories One), but the 2023 crisis in that field hit us hard and the company went bankrupt. In that case, in France, we have excellent coverage that allows us to keep getting paid the same salary for a year, so instead of looking for another company that would never be half as amazing, I decided to put all my energy into shifting, and starting my own thing.

@@pianohar I'm an app developer, been doing it for 5 years, but started piano when I was a kid. I never worked in the video game industry though I've heard it's fucked. Were you primarily working in gaming?
