So quick Q. You showed little bit of red hot doble stuff at the end . How much do you put in ?
@BCFishingJournal2 күн бұрын
Hey! Im not 100% clear on the question. Are you asking about how much of the red 3-2-1 mix to apply? In this video I don’t strictly use the Red Hot Double from procure. If my assumption is right, I don’t have a set amount as skeins are different in size. I like a light dusting of the eggs both sides, then I cut into chunks. Then Bag and add a little more powder to shake around. This 3-2-1 cure is a way more forgiving for burning your eggs than straight procure powders where you have to be more careful on the amount.

Why don't folks bar fish the fraser for them? People do really well on the Columbia fishing like that
@BCFishingJournal2 ай бұрын
Good question, I have heard of some guys doing this. However that approach is not typical as the Fraser water clarity is pretty poor on the run timing, so challenging for fish to see you bait. Also I’m no Fraser River Sockeye expert but I know these fish are more lockjaw in these upper sections of the river (many miles inland from ocean) where anglers can target them. So it’s a tough fishery in these conditions!

Bro! nice video. I too just got my first Kayak 5 months ago. An Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL. Watching your video, brought back my memory of my first day out. I wasn't planning on catching fish and just wanted to overcome some fears and see how the kayak works. When you were catching the fish, you couldn't believe it, I had the same feeling! Just some helpful advise, if you take the chair off and put it in your car, it will be easier to lift to rooftop. Also leave the PDL drive in the kayak and your gear in the kayak, set the cart wheels in the middle of the kayak to balance the weight on both front and back. You will be able to lift the kayak with 1 finger with all your gear in the kayak. Less things you will have to carry by hand back to the car or truck. These just a few things made my experience more enjoyable. Tight Lines and stay safe! <O)^^><{

It would be much easier if you invested in a bed extender. Get a 60 inch extender then you don't need to keep lifting it onto the roof. Slide the front of the kayak into the SUV and you may have 3 - 4 feet hanging over the bed extender.

Great attitude after a terrible outing. Even several of the dungies were so white they looked like fresh molted soft shells. I'm not sure if that guy was a charter or your friend? The skills were lacking. On the washington side, we fish spots with much heavier pots and single and deep. Usually 220-350 feet of water with much heavier 35-40 lb pots. I typically bring in 3-500 with 4 pots in a 1 hour soak. Look for clouds of prawns on the bottom and pick a correct tide exchange. I don't understand why he only put one wrap around the pot puller, 3 is typical to let it come up without you pulling so hard and without risk of tangling if you let go.

@djmilhaus6 ай бұрын
Couple things that will be a bit safer with those heavier pots - drop the buoy/float and then feed the line out while you move to the spot you want to drop the pot. You can fix the tangles without the weight dangling over the side and you're less likely to get stuck in the bite when you drop the pot. When you retrieve the pot, feed the line over the opposite side you're pulling on. If you drop the pot, less likely to get caught up in the rope. Be safe out there, looking forward to more!

Great video Jesse! I really enjoy your comparison between the Scotty 343 and the YakAttack GTTL90 - the difference in T-Bolt size is huge and something I hadn't considered before. I know whenever I move my 343s I have to make sure I back off the T-Bolts before tightening them to make sure they are grabbing the rail properly. An alternative to the Scotty braided downrigger line is PowerPro makes a similar product for about half the price. Most important reason, IMHO, for switching to it on a yak is the safety aspect - being able to cut it if things go sideways. I'm using a Scotty 1060 where I shortened the boom arm and then attached it behind my seat with a quick release plate (and one on the inside flipped upside down to be a makeshift backing plate). It's good having a line counter and single hand operation, but I partly wish I went for the Cannon downrigger with the vertical orientation as it may be less awkward. I think KC are looking at changing theirs next year to it. Still, was able to use a 10lb ball at 150' off Kitty Coleman hump this season with no issues (other than it being a huge PITA to drag around and reset with shakers). One upgrade I think you may want to do is the rudder pin upgrade, if you haven't already. You can either DIY it, or grab the kit from Navarre. Just a bolt, some nylon washers, and a nut, but it allows you to really tighten up the steering. That can be pretty important if you need to let go of the rudder control and still keep on the same heading.
@BCFishingJournal7 ай бұрын
Thanks for all the info! I did replace my rudder bolt with Navarre's. It's funny you mention that, as I recorded a bunch of that rudder bolt discussion for this video but cut it out because I thought it was too boring for the audience (as the video is pretty long as it is). As for the downrigger, I'm looking to upgrade to the Cannon downrigger that goes behind the seat, and mounted using the "V-Lock" custom plates. I'm pretty interested to learn more about the Scotty 1060, how are you mounting that? I'm assuming something similar to the V-Lock or aluminum/starboard plates mounted.
