Hi Mark having done some Google searching it appears that NI registration plates now fall under DVLA so these can be found online. In the case of your coach it's a 2021 Volvo 11 litre

It’s always been the Oxford Tube which I think was once owned by the public before Stagecoach took over in late to mid 1990s if I remember correctly. As they used a fleet of Berkoff Volvo B10M coaches. Think they were M reg i think at the time. Think one or some transferred to Fife to become driver trainers i think. Plaxton Panorama you were on Parks of Hamilton & Stagecoach have I don’t know how many each . But they’re used mainly on services between Edinburgh & Glasgow & on some other services in Scotland 🏴 & the odd occasion down to London also. 👍

When you go back, there's a free shuttle bus service from the bus station to the railway station on the other side of the river. It drops you there in time to get the hourly service to Coleraine and then on to Belfast

I would recommend you try service 95 between Leven & St Andrew’s. It serves whole of Fife Coastline places like Anstruther & Crail & a lot of other beautiful wee villàges & small towns. It’s all gorgeous as I’m sure you will be impressed if you do try it out.

It is nice up there Ross - certainly if the train is anything to go by. Some great coastal views 👍

@@LetsMakeaTrip yeah the new train line just goes as far as Leven but the bus 🚍 station is just across the road from watching Geoff Marshal months ago. I recognised the location straight away. & if you do go on the service I recommend the bus goes from the stand on the far right or should do mate. Least it did last time I used it years ago mate. 👍

Thank you so much as me mum & dad are from Falkland Fife where some of Outlander was filmed. That was a service we have used as we always stayed Kellingheath Caravan Park when in Norfolk. In total we took the long drive to Norfolk around 3 or 4 times. Yeah that’s brought back alot of fond memories so thank you mate. Think the bus you got i think was a ex London Scania I think . 👍

Cheers Ross, it’s a lovely part of the world. Could spend a lot more time there tbh and I think these buses (or some of them) have now been upgraded.
@rossmcgarrie978714 сағат бұрын
@ yeah Sanders have spent quite alot on renewing their single & double deck stock. Not sure how much each though. We first went to Norfolk in 1988 & my favourite bus will always be the old Bristol VRT as they were really nippy from what I remember. Eastern Counties had those buses when it was a public owned company at the time. First bus took over late 1990s early 2000s mate.

Sluice gates? No, I don't think that those items were. I want to say `stop locks, but that is the wrong terminology too. In England, you will see wooden planks on canals, stored next to slots in the canal wall. If there is a breach in the canal and water levels drop alarmingly, somebody will come and shove the boards in place to save the water levels on the rest of the canal. I think that this is what we are seeing in Bangkok, (only posher), but I could be totally wrong !!

Thanks for the info Roger. I’m open to suggestions as I’ve no idea what they were and this seems plausible to me. Cheers for watching.

Excellent video. The train is much more scenic, especially where it passes benone beach and Binevenagh mountain. The pronunciation of Lough Neigh is Lock Nay

To my knowledge National Express only use their coaches for 8 years but some operators do withdraw them after 5 or 6 years. Or if it’s a Parks of Hamilton coach they probably get withdrawn after 3 years at a guess but I might be completely wrong I’ve course mate.

Vending machines were knocked on the head. Enough shatter hammers get stolen from trains without providing a reason to steal them. You pick up your time at Boyle. There's 9 minutes waiting in the timetable.

The reason some people take the train is because the journey along lough foyle is stunning.

On a slightly different tack but Im really looking forwards to flying out of Eglinton airport in the New Year. Always wanted to complete the set of N.Ireland airports and that will become a reality as i discovered that Skyscanner allow you to take 2 flights for what you might expect to pay for one, so im flying to Birmingham via Edinburgh of all things - £45 one way 🙂👍

That’s a pretty decent price too Phil! I might look at doing that the other way. Enjoy the trip! 😊👍

Great video Mark. I'll be in the UK next April and was thinking about taking a ferry to Ireland so your video was very informative. The first thing that caught my eye though was what you were wearing. The date on the video says May 31 but you looked dressed for winter. Is it always that cold in Wales in late May? I may need to dress warmer than I had planed.
@LetsMakeaTrip16 сағат бұрын
I just feel the cold these days John. Don’t take too much from it. Yes north wales is warm enough in May but you are at sea remember.

I was working as a Dover-Calais passenger ferry's Chief Cook, on the night of the Great Storm of October 15-16, 1987, which hit northern France and southeast England. I.e., The County of Kent Due to Calais and the Port of Dover, being shut down, we had to spend the entire night at sea, in a severe storm force 12, on the Beaufort Scale. Ie., Hurricane-force winds of 120mph - recorded on the bridge, over two hours, at the height of the storm, and 20-meter-high waves. The captain later told me, it was the worst sea condition he'd ever sailed in, in his 25 years as a ship's officer! As it was a huge ferry, with stabilisers...once he'd got the ship pointing into the storm, and the stabilisers out, however, it was not too bad. But, the galley, which I had closed, for safety reasons, was in a real mess...once we had gotten into Dover Despite things being stowed away, and the pots and pans tied down to the huge stove, with thick hemp strings - to the storm railings, around the stove...with huge, 20-litre pots of soup all over the deck. It was a real mess that greeted our eyes once the ship was safely tied up on the berth! I was on duty as Acting Chief Cook that night! I felt sorry for the lounge stewards. who spent the entire night cleaning up mountains of vomit, from the seriously seasick passengers, who were stranded on board our ferry that night. Everywhere on my ship was in a real mess. The scale, of which, only became apparent, once we were tied up on the berth in Dover.

This was a great read Victor, thanks for sharing. Not sure I’d have fancied being on that ship though at the time. Sounds horrific!

A little warning to anyone crossing the North Sea on board ferries................. the North Sea is one of the roughest bodies of water on the planet, not all the time but on numerous crossings...... to Holland, Germany and Denmark...... the waves have come up against the windows on about deck 9-10, which means it was like a roller coaster. Oh, and lastly......... the DFDS ships were much better to be honest, and their great entertainment was a great way to meet new people to have a laugh with.

Hi Mark I started watching some of your older content which I agree with. I do agree about the train but the problem is I have Multiple Scerosis & as much as I love train they’re not level boarding so I’ll be sticking to bus 🚍 & coach . 👍

Got the train earlier this year, it's a beautiful line but very slow, not that regular, convoluted route and expensive. The Goldliner is the winner for daily practical use that doesn't involve going to Portrush or Portstewart Strand! Also the new A6 bypass from Dungiven to Lisnagelvin near Derry is a fantastic road!

Just watched, you had the basic and cheap cabin, in my opinion Brittany ferries are a rip off when 1 person in a cabin. Whilst i use Brittany ferries, if there was another ferry line in Brittany I would use instead.
