Quick question for you!! I am new to adult coloring. I am not a huge fan of the white spots showing. I loved how you used the water colored pencils. How did you learn this technique? I would love to know more.

I was looking for this exact video. I have struggled with backgrounds I've tried watercolor pencil and didn't like it. Oil Pastels and didn't like it. Excited to try out my new Arrtx markers for this! You're the best Kyra! I'm off to try background 3!!!

I find that looking through coloring books gives me the same joy that looking through cookbooks often did, if that makes any sense? It is almost like the imagination part of my brain takes over from that inspiration!! 😉 Thank you for sharing your favorite books!! ❤ Thanyeea Mcardle books are made on a card stock type paper and one-sided. Her style is very whimsical, colorful, and happy. She might not suit you, but her joyous expressions and artwork make me so happy to look at I thought I would share her with you! 🌈 Her style reminds me of you!! 🥰 After I found her and started looking at her books to purchase, I found out that I had purchased some of her books years ago!! 🤣 She is only available on Amazon and due to the quality of the paper, a bit expensive... KZbin recommended her to me. She is really new to KZbin, but like your channel, personality, and style, I'm obsessed, lol!! 😂

Nice Collection you have there :) I think mine isn't to shaby either i've got 4 johanna basford, 1 kerby, 1 rita bermann, 2 minimania, 1 hanna karlzon, 1 mythographic and 1 r.j. hampson book probably missing some xD Melpomeni, Lulu Mayo and Maria Trolle are on my list as well as some new releases for next year :) Will wait till christmas though before I order more xD Maybe get some for christmas or get giftcards for shops, there I can get some.

Absolutely wonderful pages and books you have chosen! I cannot wait to pick my own favourite books of the year, but it is so difficult to narrow it down haha x My favourite pages in the video were the ones in Small Victories, but my favourite book overall is A Million Little Monsters. I'm trying (failing!) to complete it x

Beautiful job Kyra! For brushes I like to use a water brush because the bristles are really firm and it's helpful for getting those sharp edges--I have Pentel and Kuretake brands. I'd recommend any regular brushes by Princeton or Royal & Langnickel (look for mixed media brushes that aren't as soft as some watercolor brushes).

I've seen that several watercolorists like the Princeton brand of paintbrushes? There are a few who have come out with their own like Paintcrush by at Kristy Rice. I don't know how pricey they might be in Australia... I hope you find some that you really love!! 🤗

I liked the first style before you did the white outlines. I thought it looked really realistic but once you got rid of the outlines it kinda looked eh, not as real and then the snow mound blended into the tree and it just wasn't as good imo.

The Afmat electric eraser is my favorite (I previously used the Derwent) but the Afmat is rechargeable with a USB cord, and I was still able to use my previously purchased Derwent eraser refills for it. The downfall is that the button is very sensitive and I found if it bumped up against aomething in my bag (when coloring on the go) that it would turn on. So I purchased a hardhell eyeglasses case to put it and some eraser refills (this one has the same size as Derwent plus a much smaller size as well)

Princeton Aqua Elite, Neptune, and Velvetouch are my favorite watercolor pencils. Neptune are softer and hold the most water, Velvetouch are pretty snappy and firm, and the Aqua Elite are in between the two and my personal favorites. Although I have several of each since I love to paint with watercolor. ❤

Hello! I am a newer subscriber to your channel and am so happy the algorithm finally introduced us! I know the price point is high (luckily I worked for an amazing doctor who knew I loved art supplies) but the Caran D'Ache Pablos are incredible pencils. So many unique colors that aren't in other sets. (Olive grey, olive black, greyish green, raspberry red, light beige, their light lemon yellow and lime green are so cool too) They are a great balance between soft like prisma and hard like polychromos. And they can be purchased open stock so even just buying some of the more unique colors is well worth it. Though, they also lack in the purple range. Honestly the best purple range I know of, but unfortunately not the highest quality, is the Starjoy Gold set. Is there a set you recommend for a good range of purples? When I run into a prisma pencil that keeps breaking or lead falling apart while sharpening, if its a hot summer day, I put it in direct sunlight for a while to melt that internal lead core back together. But since I live in Minnesota and we don't have warm sunshine most of the year, I will put it next to a hot pot on my stove (electric flatop stove) to warm it up. Ive thought about the microwave before but I dont know if there's some metallic elements in the pigment or the writing on the pencil itself. I bet under the electric blanket for a while could work too? Happy coloring!
