Aren't velosters rare in the uk?? In Australia we also got the veloster and hyundai in Australia also did their own concept, the veloster street. Which they sold as a special edition and made only 200 and exclusive to Australia or something like that

@@aussiefurbymogwaifan6621 they are indeed, looks like the figure of ~2500 sold was fairly accurate, apparently there's ~180 in the orange colour too. We never got the second generation either, and only got the MK1 from '11 to '14 if memory serves. Rare and unique was essentially the goal when looking for a new car for the GF and I reckon we succeeded. As for my comment about seeing them a few times a week, I'm a truck driver so I'm *always* on the road, so they're still seldom seen! I've seen images of the street, neglected to mention it!

@@Toddy_Boy glad you enjoyed - they're something a bit different, though I really would recommend a test drive, just to focus on those steering characteristics. It's not an issue I see many others bring up, but I just cannot get along with it, of course you may well get along with it. Definitely a left field choice and overall, a good car.

I just recently saw the new micra next to the K11. The new one was like 50% larger. Isn't it interesting how everyone is talking about being enviromentally friendly, but at the same time they don't build simple and well build little cars like the the K11 anymore. A small engine and a radio was enough for decades. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a nice car and a big engine. But you don't even have the choice to buy cheap and reliable cars like the K11, Corsa B or Polo 6N anymore. Everything is way larger, stuffed with tons of electronics noone really uses, seems to have at least 150hp and is way to expensive.
@CaiKeys
@CaiKeys 10 күн бұрын
Completely agree, what's interesting is how many 'small cars' appear to have even less room inside than their predecessors, whilst physically being far, far larger. Lots of that is due to safety admittedly, but I think a much larger part of it is the idea that everybody wants quite a premium vehicle nowadays, people don't seem particulary happy to drive a small, basic hatchback. In my opinion virtually all of these 'environmental incentives' (electric cars, scrappage scheme) are primarily economic and actually detrimental to the environment in comparison to keeping an old car on the road, but that's a discussion for a future video!
@DLT-po6to
@DLT-po6to 9 күн бұрын
@@CaiKeys Well of course there are stricter safety regulations. But i'm positive the manufacturers could still build small and simple cars if they wanted to. They themselfes used their marketing to make people more interested in large and expensive cars. I agree with you, if you really look into it, it quickly becomes clear that EVs are many things, but not environmentally friendly. Even to recycle them is a nightmare.

Definitely regret not saving my K11 Also fun fact you can put a QG Series engine from a mk 2 Almera with a £129 Gizfab kit, you apparently can use the original transmission which would give wicked acceleration....not exactly as plug and play but no fabrication/cutting required

Very informative and a fair assessment of the Micra, in the event of an apocalypse I think cockroaches and k11 Micra's will still exist. Just a suggestion, but when you keep mentioning comparison cars, maybe flash up a picture of the said car so it's obvious which one you are talking about. Mk5 golf is not going to be as chuckable as the other mentioned cars, it's more focus sized after all. But surprised to hear they are 1-1.5k now... It's sad really but I think you are right, these small hatches are dead now, if you drive 106/Saxo horrible safety but damn so fun, pug 205, excellent car. Only cars we seem to get now are huge SUVs. So in 10-20 years not sure what we'll do because these little hatches will have largely been turned into trash.

These little cars go on for ever with just basic servicing. Mine is identical to yours, does 58 mpg , could do better if I drove it sensibly, revs to 7000 rpm ,good brakes after good quality pads fitted and a fluid change. Good fun road holding after ditching Chinesium tyres and cheap insurance . Fits in any parking bay.

You must have a horrible NC gear shifter, as I've driven several NC's, and the gear shifter is one of the best features of these cars. They are such a short throw, and smoothly goes from gear to gear, and most TR reviewers seem to agree with me. YOU are the ONLY one I've heard complain about the shifter. As for the different variants, I 100% prefer the NC to the NA and the NB.

@6:26 Yeah, dude, and the Japanese have analog gauge, too. @6:44 The most exquisite version is the 1.5 TS Turbo, a limited edition. The normal 1.5 TS is fairly common and affordable, too, even though it has only 106 horsepower and 120mph top speed. You can add supercharger kits and turbo charger kits to your liking, though. @7:46 AC and electric windows would have been a great addition, because it is a Toyota after all.

We have had our pink one now for over twelve years and it’s been phenominal. Sure no screens no Apple play no gadgets or phone fiddling. It’s coming up 100000 now and has apart from servicing never missed a beat. There is some wear and tear but at 17 years old it isn’t a surprise. Great to drive and you can bimble the country lanes all day without shifting all the gears as 1600 is a big engine for a car this size. Urban the missus gets 44 mpg and I can get 61 mpg driving carefully. On the motorway I went to Devon and back around 500 miles and it was happy to sit for hours at 70. Best car we have ever had by someway.

First vie of your channel, i have to admire the car you are driving! I absolutely love the mk1 yaris the only vehicles i have driven that i liked more were the mk3 mondeo and the mk6/7 transit/tourneo. To be honest the only reason I bought a mk1 yaris was it was cheap and i needed a car fast, and to be honest i fell in love with it within the first couple of days! I have to admit to being blown away by how well it felt, both in performance and comfort (mine was a 1.3l ( i could do 39 mph in first gear) rhe speakers were quite good for base spec btw) My first was written off 8 days after a totally clean MOT (lets just say i wasnt happy!) I see so many still on the road going right back to the initial release (W reg i believe it was) I loved my yaris so much that when the insurance paid out i traveled 150 miles to get another one. The MK1 yaris is one of the most fun cars to drive, if it is well maintained the hold the road really well. I have never owned a more reliable and easy to work on vehicle. I would buy a MK1 yaris over almost ANY other car made in the last 30 years! When it was written off it had 145000 miles on the clock and was as good as the day it left the factory.
