When someone who can’t communicate goes to school to learn how to communicate, then tries to convince everyone she’s an expert in communication:

Yes, they probably learn better because of individual attention BUT they could have problems later on because they never socialzed at school

Misconceptions I got told often is if I teach my kids together either the elders one would be stupid and would not pass grade or the youngest would not learn anything as he won't understand. Backstory they are in elementary have 2,5 years age gap. And I only teach reading separately rest of the subject just give the harder questions to the elderly. :)

@@user-ng6nn8bo2g that is a good misconception. And it's one that's frustrating. I've taught multi age classes with the same curriculum except for math and it was wonderful. It's a great way to do it for families at home too!

I came across montessori philosophy a month ago and I am fascinated by it! Thank you so much for making a pros and cons video! I have a question related to montessori school. In my area, I only find 2-3 montesorri schools that accept children under 2, and there are almost 3x as much that accept older kids, for example 2.5 - 4 yo and on. Would you recommend that I send my daughter to non-montessori pre-school until she reaches 3 years old? Or is it crucial to get her exposed as early as possible? My original plan wast to send her to one at 18 months of age. In other words, what age group is crucial fora child to attend a montessori school to get the maximum benefits and a strong foundation? Thank you!

I 100% agree with curriculum not being the first step. I have so many people ask me for homeschool advice and they want me to just tell them what curriculum to use. I can't do that! I start asking them questions, like - what are your goals? What do you want your days to look like? Do you need your kids to be pretty independent, or do you want to be more involved in their daily learning? You'd be surprised how many people tell me - they just want to know what curriculum to use or never answer any questions. I really feel like people could save SO MUCH hassle by answering some other questions and looking at their bigger picture and understanding their why BEFORE choosing a curriculum. Curriculum is a TOOL, not a rule book.

We are considering Montessori for our 6 year old....toured a school today. We wish we had enrolled him when he was younger. He did traditional prek. Do you think it would be too challenging or, even, unwise to enroll him into Montessori at this age?
@LearningLifeMB

If you think it would be a good fit....and by the sounds of it you like it and are leaning towards it ... Then it would be a good thing. My friend took her child out of a traditional setting and into Montessori and it was wonderful for them. They don't regret the change.

I know people who have used it for middle school. I personally have found it strongest for elementary. If you haven't done anything like this before, it will take a little bit of getting used to... But I do think it's a solid curriculum choice and it could be very good for 4th grade and up.

Not a parent here, but why not try to incorporate housework into homeschooling? I'd say housekeeping skills are just as important as math. It would also teach responsibility, organization and cleanliness skills.
@LearningLifeMB
@LearningLifeMB Ай бұрын
Housework is definitely something I incorporate. I know a number who do. But it can also be helpful to have the permission to do something differently like not being as clean or getting a cleaner come in. There are times I definitely don't want my children to help with housework.

Is there a difference between preschool and pre-k? Do you think it's necessary to send children to pre-k?
@LearningLifeMB
@LearningLifeMB Ай бұрын
Preschool and Pre-K are the same thing. I don't feel a need to have your child do a Pre-K (preschool) program, even at home.

@LearningLifeMB thank you so much for your response 🩷 and also for taking the time to make this video. It has truly helped me in navigating this new step and it's been a blessing to me. As a child, I never went to preschool or pre-k, and in Kindergarten I was one of the advanced learners and was part of a reading program because I was advanced in reading. I only say this because I think that shows that preschool/pre-k really isn't necessary for everyone. And I have strong convictions for my babies as well. I just want to keep them closer to home and mold their character within the home as long as I can 💗 until Kindergarten. Thank you again 🩷🙏

I have unschooled since they were born, tried homeschooling here and there but never sticks and never last more than a few days. My kids don't have huge interests, my girls,13 and 9 like to play barbies all day and my son sleeps all day and stays up all night....My youngest can't read yet, although she is starting to read and spell 3 letter words...My son started reading on his own when he was around 2ish, and my middle child was reading at 7 or 8...I always wonder if I am doing unschooling right...
@LearningLifeMB
@LearningLifeMB Ай бұрын
Unschooling comes down to personalities - yours and your children. They are going to learn in different ways. Reading at 7 or 8 on their own is great. If your children aren't progressing in their reading or you don't feel like they are learning, then it is always good to reevaluate. Are any of us really doing it right? That is a good question. You just keep trying and moving forward.

@@LearningLifeMB I honestly do wonder. I've always had a hard time understanding people and why they didn't like me. I was ignored by my parents so they never taught me how to behave and I wasn't a natural at it. I'm thinking about talking to my doctor about it. Thanks for responding.

As a former preschool teacher with my degree in child and family studies I fully agree. If you don’t have to. Don’t. I was happy to be there for the families that needed me to be there for their child. However these little ones are not all doing well. Some thrived. But most were just waiting for their parents to come back for them. I will also add I taught at a full day preschool. So these little ones were with me for 8-9 hours. It’s just too much for most kids.

8 to 9 hours. Holy moly. Both my kids went to preschool at age 4 and they both loved it. However it was 4 hours a day twice a week program.
