My current setup is an IPad Air M2 and an IPhone 15 Pro. I’m quite new to the ecosystem apart 10 years since my 2014 MacBook Air died because of missing charger brick. I’m quite on the wrong spot when entering the ecosystem, most likely lack of research and buyer remorses of panic buys due to M2 being same as 10th gen (as a student). And the 15 Pro had issues of overheating when scrolling instagram which catches on battery anxiety. My next target was supposed to be getting the AirPods Pro 2 Gen, but I ditched out and waited for the this year Pro 3 Gen instead. Any suggestions on the AirPods?

I don't understand the hate for this model specifically when you praise the much worse 2016 model and the 2015. It's not as good as apple sillicon but surely it's the king of intel macbooks?

It’s because, unlike those older machines, a decent one of these 2019 16” models is the same price as a M1 MacBook, even one configured in 16GB of ram in some cases. The M1 uses a fraction of the power, it’s faster, and the dependability of it is far greater given the prevalent SSD failure of these 16” models. It doesn’t justify its expense.

No, I wouldn't do it! $650 is a lot for one of these, they're coming on 8 years old and have major issues with the keyboard.

@ not great, it never really was. I gotta keep the charger around if I want to use it for a couple hours. I’m wondering how much getting a new one would help. It’s a smaller unit so the battery must be smaller too.

I bought a maxed out MacBook Pro 16 for $960 a week ago with 64gb/2tb/5600m/i9 2.4 with a battery of barely 100 cycles and after turning off ht and turbo boost, in normal use the laptop can reach 8-9 hours of battery life, which I consider a good result

I still use it as my second phone. What surprising me is facebook, whatsapp, tiktok,youtube, instagram, even apple tv+ still can run in this 11 years old phone. The only problem is it get heat too easily. Battery only last about 2-3 hours

there's a 4TB and 8TB model on this 2019 16" out there somewhere. imagine getting one of those on the used market for a reasonable price and having both windows and macos on there with plenty of space to spare. gaming and working on one device. perfect!

This is wild. You paid $200 for this? Lol. So I bought one new in 2016. Paid like $3000 plus as I recall. I hated it. Despised it. I used it a few days. Reset it to factory. Boxed it up. And it has sat on my storage room in my house ever since. Biggest waste of money I ever spent. I intended to sell it on swappa but people hate this model so much I refused to sell it cheap. I’ll just let it sit I guess. Sad. And I love Apple.

400? Where? Not in eBay. I am buying a 2019 MacBook pro i9 64gb 512 for almost 650. In very good condition. Maybe if your buying the base model i7 or i5 400. But the2019 i9 64gb can punish base model m1 MacBooks. A 2019 MacBook pro is more than enough for most users and with Windows they can continue updates. After apple discontinues their updates.

I actually bought the Iphone 12 mini instead. The upgrade is still better than Iphone 8 in everyway. I like the formfactor of the Iphone 12 mini. Physically is smaller but the screen is still bigger. I don't need three cameras. The Iphone 8 had one camera. Also the battery in Iphone 12 mini is still bigger, not by much, but still bigger than Iphone 8. I always have my powerbank with me, So I wouldn't run out of battery anyway.

I got a macbook pro 2017 with i7 16gb ram for 250, an iPhone 12 mini for like 350, a pair of Beats Studio buds, and an apple watch series 6. Honestly, for just school and light video editing, the MacBook still works perfect. In the future tho that's the next thing on my list to upgrade

Seriously think AirPods can be skipped for alternatives like tozo a1 or redmi buds 3 lite, it’s not too hard to disconnect them and reconnect them in Bluetooth settings but it is unconventional but buying alternatives saves a lot of cash once they degrade in battery life, and they get better battery life then AirPods 2nd gens usually even if the AirPods were refurbished

I have a 2019 / 16 inch / i7 / 32Go / 1 To It heats like crazy, fans are often on an makes NOISE. I have a M3 Pro since a year. As I have to spend 289€ to replace the battery on the 2019, I’m thinking about doing that or sell it to backmarket for 530€ with defective battery and just get a MacBook Air as my backup laptop to replace this one !

That's a great question! It'll definitely be a better experience, but still being a fanless, low power design, I think you'd still have issues with performance.

So weird, my 16" 2019 literally has no lag and works perfectly.. Im still in love with it especially the touch bar! Edit: Currently running Sequoia beautifully thank goodness :)

Still have it & use it for travel but not my on the plane or at the sofa. I have iPad for that. I keep it for its good old reliable when M1 was too new yet. It’s an Intel Mac & if you work in a multi OS & use Windows. But soon to be left behind on Win10 as it outdated. So if all you need is Mac OS, grab an M anything over M1. The 2019 i7-9980HK, dual GPU intel UHD 630 & Radeon 5600M, 64gb Ram & 2Tb is a workhorse in its day & kept some old M1 on its toes for a few months. Today, I think I can use a more travel portable M4.

Care to elaborate? I’ve had mine since launch, my sister had hers for two years, my brother had it since launch and just upgraded. None of us had those issues. My friends are also iPhone users and had it, no problems.
