tbf this is fine. maybe not the dude who was charged 900, but how else you gonna get into your house? We need people who can do this, and they need to be able to make a living, or else we are stuck. if people are new to the industry, their prices might be higher, cause the initial cost of buying your equipment. they have to drive to their calls, and that also costs money. and what happens if they only get a couple calls a day at 75$? youre not going to make a living like that. Imo it should be like 100$ minimum if they come and merely pick a lock.

$15 or $25 less than $100 was standard industry pricing 9 or 10 years ago. Today around $125 to $165 is normal for busy business day, and closer to $200 for after-hours emergency service calls on residential and commercial lockouts. But it is all highly dependent on the region.

I mean the first guy Daniel you honestly can’t be mad at him or say he is scamming because he gave the price upfront which is $160 and he only did the work when she agreed but then she says “that was easy” if it was easy why don’t you do it then.

Be really careful when blurring your house as it is permanent & will stick out like a sore thumb! It could definitely attract the wrong kind of attention. My street here in the UK was updated for the first time since 2012 back in the summer. My neighbor who is paranoid about the government spying on went furious after finding this out and asked me if it could be blured. Well he had it blurred. Early January his house got broken in to when he was out Meanwhile the neighbors opposite who were gone for over 3 week and had a upstairs window slightly opened with a ledge the anyone could up enter the house were fine. They also had some junk mail piling up out side the front door, aswell as other sign that the house was empty for sometime. That neighbor lost about £3k.

I charge $10 flat fee for the drive to the spot, if I can't pick the lock after 15min or pick it in less than 1 min, its Free. If I go from cityrake to snake rake to bogota, and need to individually pick the damn lock and unlock, thats when I charge $65 . If I have to drill, its $100 + 10 to drive there. Anything else is a rip off.

People are really throwing a fit over a $160 service call? The dude is driving to your house to fix your issue and then has to drive home/to the shop. What is he meant to work for $20 per service visit? These people are delusional and don't value tradesman's time. Why are locksmiths all of a sudden the crooks and plumbers and hvac techs aren't?

You guys should do the dark side of property management companies next. A story on how many properties are owned by these companies to keep black people out of white liberal neighborhoods, that claim to fight racism. But hot damn im discouraged at the lock picking hobby turning into a money making job. I guess, I will use my skill to help people for free.
