I used to volunteer to do disabled parking enforcement. What you need to do is take a video or pics of the car, the disabled space it's parked in and the placard, the area (location, time, date, etc) maybe have a witness mention what day it is and get a pic of the person driving the vehicle. And if you're pretty sure the person that the placard is registered to isn't there, call the police and have them come and check it out, show them your evidence. We used to write tickets on pictures alone. Esp. when the owner is deceased!! These people who are using someone else's placard are going to have them confiscated and then the person who needs it won't have it when needed, so their selfishness will come back to hurt someone they care about.

It's time to make the first offense a $5000 fine and a 90 day suspension of license and the second offense should be a 10K fine and a year in jail. That would put a stop to this BS immediately!

I usually really enjoy these videos as I love seeing these fraudsters being handed tickets for huge amounts. This was soooo frustrating that other than a little bit of public humiliation, they all completely got away with their atrocious behaviour. 😡

Same thing with my dads placard when he had one for over 20 years, the few times I did use it was only when I was picking him up and or dropping him off when I was home (I’m stationed overseas and he had possession of my car while I was gone). One time I was on a date with a girl and she suggested I just use the placard to park in the closer spots, at that point I knew I was dealing with a selfish person... she also wasn’t very bright when she didn’t understand ‘my youngest brother was 20 years older I am’ and kept arguing with me about the accuracy of that statement when I spotted him in traffic.

Good luck trying that in San Francisco. PCO’s do enforce and they have their own Disabled placed detail city wide. Violations are $875 for misuse, expired, deceased owner, reported lost/stolen, altered or parking in a BZ w/o a placard. The placard is confiscated and the owner will have to reapply for a new one. Images parking in a Blue zone with an altered placard. Two citations, $875 each. One for displaying an altered placard and the other for the Blue zone...and a tow for $400 and if the vehicle is dolly tow slap on an additional $50....total $2,200.00😬

Disable placard is issue by the state. City can't have their own disable placard. It's very easy to cheat even in San Francisco.

The obvious answer to the question of why do they almost never apply the laws to, and punish those who routinely break those laws is: BECAUSE THE LAW MAKERS AND ENFORCERS ARE THEMSELVES THE BIGGEST LAW-BREAKERS. The laws only strictly apply to those of us taxpayers who are stupid enough to respect and follow the law!

I drive my Dad's car and my step-Mom has a handicap placard and the only time I use it is when she is with me, otherwise I don't use it even though I have health issues of my own. The same goes for when I was with my ex he has one but I never used it only when he was with me. I had friends that would use my ex's placard and I would get upset about it but they didnt care. I was raised to only use them if the person was with me. I like that there is nice fines for doing that but the fun part is the people that really need them have to fight to get a new one or aren't able to get one for awhile cause of others.
