Norske studenter får ca 12500 kr pr mnd i støtte/ lån.

I delivery food by car in Telemark, more precisely in Porsgrunn and Skien. Yes, I pay toll when I enter Porsgrunn and when I cross from Porsgrunn to Skien, but is limited to 60 charges by calendar month, which usually I reach in 10 to 15 days. Also, if I enter Porsgrunn, left and return in less than an hour I do not get charged again. What I try to say, after I enter Porsgrunn, I can enter and left for the next sixty minutes without being charge again. The top hours cost 23 NOK, and the rest of the day is 17 NOK, but because I have an electronic tag, get 20 % discount. This benefits change in different part of Norway. The couple of times I drove to Torp Airport, I paid to a different company, but the charge was in my monthly toll ticket. Now, when I see the effort to keep the road and streets free of snow 24/7 as in my area, or cleaned of grit immediately after winter, it worth paying. The maximum I have pay is near 900NOK (around $ 90) and as self-employed I think, but can confirm at the moment, can discount from my income. Need to ask my accountant. In other hands, the map in the GPS devices and Google map in my area are not up to date. They ask me to take closed roads, roads no longer exist and sometime can't find the customer because their addresses are not marked in the map. I think the problem is the municipality do not inform companies like Google, Tomtom and Garmin the changes. I do not know.

There is this book by a Danish author called "Little Book of Hygge , the Danish way to live well" , and by this book the Danish sort of "took" the expression HYGGE (cosiness) and made the world believe this is something special for Denmark. I find this kind of funny. Having it cosy at home with good food, candles, nice home decor for the season one is in, being relaxed and comfortable together is just as much a Norwegian thing as a Danish thing... 😀 But a Dane wrote the mentioned book, so they beat us there... 🙃 In Norway we would more often use the words KOSELIG and KOSE OSS, rather than the word HYGGE, but it means the same. 😉
@jonnor6883

I agree. Never understood why we say that danish are doing "hygge", swedish "mys" and norwegian "kos". We often use it the same way. But there is a huge difference between what we put into the word in Norway. During the winter will i often say we put a lot of the danish hygge into kos pretty much the same. But the difference is that we also put kos into activities we do outdoor. When we sit down and enjoying an orange or chocolate during a ski trip or a hike with family and friends. Then we will say we "koser oss" together.

The money you receive from Lånekassen as a student in Norway is partly a loan (as it's a combination of a grant and a loan). However, this doesn't mean that universities in Norway aren't free, as there is almost no tuition fee unless you attend a private institution. The financial support from Lånekassen is an extra benefit.

I don't think the Danish are very liberal with alcholol other than compared to places like Norway. The age limit might be lower but in France even school kids were allowed to drink wine during recess until 1956 and obviously in many homes they aren't going to wait until someone is 18 before giving them wine. I suspect Germans probably get beer much before they are 18 as well.

They will still likely be charged for tax evasion
@Spacemongerr
@Spacemongerr 3 күн бұрын
@@user-xr3rb6pn9m Very unlikely. Norwegian tax authorities say that they do not want to target prostitutes. _Technically_ they should pay tax, but there are so many exceptions, lack of guidance in the tax info, and there being a long precedent for not taxing them. Just a couple of years ago there was a woman who was charged with paying too little taxes, she worked as a cleaner. Turns out that the amount she hadn't paid, she had earned from prostitution and did not think she had to pay taxes on it. Ultimately, the Tax Complaint Tribunal agreed, and concluded that prostitutes shall not pay income tax. This is because of the reasons listed above, as well as other legal-technical reasons that are too complicated to get into here.

The Norwegian Bible Belt is very different from the American one. For reference: Around 25-30% of the population there are Christians, which is higher than the national average. The national numbers are: - 50% Atheists - 20% dont know or believe in "some force" that is not a god - 20% Christians - 5% Muslims - 5% all other religions

Grocery stores in Norway can only sell alchol max 4,7%. So most beers are 4,5-4,7%. You will not find any wine in a grocery store. Anything stronger than 4,7% can only be sold by Vinmonopolet. (Lit. The Wine Monopoly, it is government owned. Very nice stores.) At age 18 you can buy alcohol below 22% At age 20 you can buy alcohol 22% and higher

I think when it comes to events such as confirmation alcohol is fine, unless its in very religious communities that doesnt really touch alcohol. Also parts of the southern parts of Norway where its more conservative values its less alcohol. Audnedal Kommune in Agder didnt sell alcohol until only a few years ago for example. But overall, most people, and specially Urban people in Norway and Denmark are more similiar. Main difference is where its sold, and yeah Danes does consume more alcohol than Norwegians, but the numbers are a bit more underreported for Norway compared to Denmark historically due to alcohol taxation. Denmark is more expensive now than it used to be, due to the poor Norwegian krone. However Norwegian alcohol has been known to be more expensive, so Norwegians do tend to shop more abroad than Danes, as alcohol consumption is measured on sales in a country. So it inflated it. I know Danes also do the same in Germany, but not to the extent Norwegians does. Another element with that is the Norwegian geography and distances also makes moonshine production also far more a thing in Norway in rural places than Denmark. Its probably a thing in Denmark as well, but in Norway there is quiet a lot of illegal moonshine production going on for people that also wants to save the money. Besides that its spot on, and Norwegians are more prude than danes when it comes to nudity. Denmark,Germany and Spain are probably the 3 countries in Europe that are the most similiar on that when it comes to it. Norway is probably still more towards Denmark on the scale if one look at Europe as a whole, and even more so when looking at it worldwide.

Denmark is liberal when comes to alcohol and prostitution. Danes is reckon more continental from a Norwegian perspective and maybe others as well that is able to make a comparasion. As a Norwegian I have barely been to Denmark but made to-three weeks in Copenhagen one summer. I met two Norwegian girls as were on vacation as well. One of the girls just left one year in the US as a au pair. She said the americans seem more liberal to weed than to alcohol. DUI of alcohol was a no no but DUI of weed wasn't that bad. The Norwegian 'special store' for liguid is a state owned 'monopoly'

English doesn't matter too much as long as you can communicate enough for your job. But if you plan to live there for more than a year you should learn the local language. Most jobs require it. In Norway there are Norwegian language schools for adult foreigners most places. Since you are an EU/EEC citizen, you can live in Norway for up to a year while looking for jobs. I'm not sure how Danish laws are, since they are in EU while Norway is not in the EU but in the EEC (which is basically an 80% EU-membership) I have a Spanish friend who moved here years ago, he speaks better Norwegian than English now :)
