I was diagnosed at 4 years old, which was almost unheard of in the 90's. Not enough was known about how to treat girls with ADHD, and I suffered a lot because of this. My parents were even encouraged by their doctor to not tell me about it because I might "use it as a crutch." The thing is, would you tell someone with a sprained ankle not to use a crutch? Of course not! They'd mess up their ankle even more! Thanks a lot, doc. 😂

You can stay chill no matter how hungry you are once you understand that you don't have to feel everything all the time.

some people's brains just don't work like that, but I'm glad it works for you
@grennhald6 күн бұрын
@brachiosaur Nope, everyone can do that. You're just trying to dodge accountability.
@brachiosaur6 күн бұрын
@@grennhald it's no use arguing with close-minded people, I guess. it's absolutely wild to say that EVERY SINGLE PERSON does any specific thing in general. you can't even say that about breathing air - dead people don't breathe. making such a generalization like that shows to me that you probably don't actually know what you're talking about, because I doubt there's scientific evidence to back up "well, I think that my personal experience of the world is utterly universal because I'm incapable of empathy or even just imagining a life experience slightly different than my own." grow up.

@@brachiosaur Being able to set your feelings aside is integral to being a mature and responsible adult. If you refuse to you'll just continue to be toxic your whole life.
@brachiosaur6 күн бұрын
@grennhald what's toxic is being so self-absorbed that you consider your own experience the default of every human in the world 😁.

I fall under each symptom, but I just can’t seem to understand why I can’t focus, concentrate, or even complete a simple task without procrastinating/overthinking.

I didn't buy a diary in 2024 - I was broke. Then I needed it because I couldn't keep up. I found an old A4 notebook but hardly used it still. Then I found advice that I could use - task, planned start, planned end, actual end (should have added actual start 😅) and reasons for deviation. I gave up - talked to my doctor and she gave me a dopamine supplement. The difference that made in that notebook was amazing!

A previous pastors wife would say you have to get out of the “belly button” ministry. If you can imagine someone pulling up the shirt and just focusing on their own belly button. It places your full attention on yourself. On that one spot.

I started putting more trash cans in my house to remember to use them. And then, my dog started raising them. So now I have trash cans in high places in bedrooms and bathrooms. 😂

So true, so, so, true. 😅I have 5 daily planners. A couple of them I used once or twice but that was it. Thank you, I'm not alone. Lol

Thankyou Doc, you are so right about this! For one, we have 8 trash cans... why, because we are like you... it's so much easier to set up our space the way we need. We also have an area for me and my wife's work stuff, wallets, keys, etc. We always only put them there. If one of us forgets, we remind the other.
@summertime6910 күн бұрын
Yes, I do this with my trash cans. One more little tip - if it is near a place you sit, remove the lid! Lids will guarantee you will never toss it in there.

I've been feeling detached from the world and myself for 4 months after a panic attack. I felt I couldn't breathe for a week after that panic attack. Woke up one day and felt disconnected, and it's been a 24/7 feeling for 4 months. Looking up at the sky scares me, thinking of how we exists scares me and worst of all I have no joy and my friends, family, and environments dont seem familiar. I feel like my head is just floating over my body. My reflection scares me and even basic things like talking and walking scare me. Feel like I am hyper aware of being alive and where most people do things on autopilot. I am hyper aware of thinking and also my voice doesnt feel like mine coming out. It is like im so disconnected but also hyper aware. Am i stuck like this forever

Nope. Has jack to do with mental health. It is just how we process facial features for recognition. Depression doesn't interpret the world as negative. That's a myth.
