Everyone is discriminated by someone on something but you need to mentally strong to tackle it.not just blamegave or victimization. Nothing change with reservation but bad for Indian economy.Until you want to continue divide and rule policy and gain political benefit.

The khaps of northern states are also responsible for not being able to control such issues, like atrocities on Women & Dalits.

Low level of literacy & make child favourism in the northern states of India is also the factor contributing to it

I'm a privileged class and gave up on my Brahminism and happened to be lucky that my family supported it. More often than not, I get astonished when people talk about meritocracy without acknowledging their privilege! I did my higher education in Chennai and could see first hand how higher reservation (69%) has benefited the state and its people. I guess the only way it can go when intercaste marriage becomes a norm and surname goes away. That was I like the sytem in South where they use their father's or mother's first name as their last name! P.S. My sister married to a SC guy (from her workplace) and was surprised to learn that my religious parents (I'm an atheist) did not have any issue with it and realized how progressive they were. They are not anymore. So, thank you that you two from privileged backgrounds are discussing this issue. I really liked the fact that the doctor spoke about disabling privilege and that's the only way to create an egalitarian society!

The other day my son during a discussion mentioned "women are women's worst enemy". We were discussing a Rajasthani lady's plight at the hands of her parents after informing them that her husband seems to be an impotent. It struck that a mother teaches her daughter to be tolerant even if that be immoral acts of males she comes across in her life. But what does the father teach his son/sons????
