Fabulous work opening up under the stairs - it looks amazing and so much bigger (if that's possible). Definitely a great idea to leave it open to let the fresh air circulate and dry out under the staircase (if there is any damp creeping up) and remove any musty/damp smells. PLEASE PLEASE 🙏🙏 would you consider leaving them open rather than recreating new side panelling the visual effect is spectacular and really emphasises the staircase in all its granduer. Thank you.

Billy, the staircase looks so much better without that cupboard/panelling under it. If you discover stairs going down, perhaps just continue the exiting stair banister detail down? As someone else mentioned, if you do decide to put the boards back, just cut the rotten few cms out and shift them to the left, then you only need one new panel at the end. But I'd leave it open.

Watching Yanis in full demo mode to classical music was inspired Billy. The granite floor is lovely, but it is a shame that the cupboard is so rotten.
