The last time I flew a VC10 was from the Seychelles to Kai tak via Colombo. I was on a VC 10 in Rome when the Pan Am and Lufthansa planes were being held by the PLO. Very sad day.

Came here to show my girl this thing used to be relatively normal after seeing the performance in Liverpool tonight.

I adored the VC-10 it was the greatest aircraft ever built and the best design. I went on to join the RAF as an aircraft technician and worked and flew on the 'Queen of The Skies' for many years. I can never understand WHY no aircraft manufacturer has built new generation VC-10's. With the rear engines and T tail she had 'clean' wings and a HUGE flapped area plus leading edge slats. So she could handle high altitude take offs easily. The rear engine made her so quiet inside. Trial swere carried out on development of the RB211 engine and ONE of those had more power than 2 Conway engines. So it was discussed about building a new fleet with 2 RB211's replacing the Conways - taking her into the 21st Century with glass cockpit and possibly a wide body - the 'VC-11'. Sadly it never came true. You look at the BAC 111, the Trident, SUD Caravelle ALL very successful rear engine aircraft! I do miss this beautiful machine.

If only the crew members in the video could manage to sound and look sincere, it's obvious that they volunteered to do it in order to brown nose their way up. When I flew for BA there was always someone on the crew who would bore my tits off telling me how exited they were at being chosen to do something extra for no money,

It's now 2023 and I actually said to a young lady in a shop the other day, 'What's your name love?', while I was looking for my wife and I was asking if anyone had seen her, after when I caught up with her, she said she had been talking with the young lady and I knew she had, after having learnt her name. Long story short, there was no objection.

What a wonderful surprise to find these 5 segments covering that days events. I was travelling back from Plymouth on a train while this was all happening but Heathrow was all back to normal when I fronted for my flight back to Australia. A week or so later a VHS tape taken off the BBC, arrived from my dad , what a thrill then and again now. Now, where is that tape…….😎

a STRANGE SETUP...... the FIRST series of blankety blank shown in Early 1979...... Did NOT have the READY STICKS.....strange they introduced these in the second series shown LATE 1979............. but on the Third series in 1980...They were gone..... in favour of the illuminated name surround of the guests.... the idea they stayed with until... the shows end in 1990.....

I heard on the car radio some years ago, a comedy story about the British empire, the colonies and so on but I missed the radio host's intro. I thought at the time it was Victoria Wood but never heard it again nor can I find it online - anyone got any ideas? It was absolutely hilarious!

I am staunch follower of British Aviatiónwhere as Vickers product viscount was a great sucess I have never been able to understand the rise fall and finally RAF stepping in to hold the baby . Although it was a great & b we àutufull plane why did it fail to çompete with 707 & DC-8 ,has been a mystry. It had a clean reputation unlike DH comet .......
