Chiara's performance was the best of the night as I remember - a beautiful song with a lovely sentiment. 1 of the most exciting ends to the competition and the wrong act won. The buzz and controversy surrounding Diva was too much to resist for Europe at the time.

More maltese mediocrity was in store after 16 years of absence, untill Chiara came, they say in this video. Thats very interesting as they reached top ten all years between 91 and 97 and reached third place in 92.

They were like Italy this decade... Then, they finished 2nd in 2002 and 2005 (with Chiara).

I used to have Norway nul points in my favs earlier, but it was removed by owner =/ I simply love it! *yes I am Norwegian* Amusing thing is, all those songs shown there as bad is legendary here in Norway (except the first one) Jan Teigen is one of our most loved singers (or was at that time. Now we don't see him much..) And Sami Ednan is the number one most remembered and loved here =) Everyone knows it! Be ware, this years song Fairytale by Alexander will blow you away! =D

I agree about Dana International, but Elena Pararizou deserved to win. Chiara Siracusa is really good though (and one of the few ESC contestants in my size).

They were a little wrong there. Malta actually did pretty well, with a 3rd-placer in 1992, even before Chiara came along.

As a Swede, I have a lot of sisterly love for Norway. And I like "Saami Aednan", and even "Mil efter mil" doesn't sound that bad. However, poor Finn Kellsvik was among the most boring contestants in 1981, so I can see how he came last. He wasn't the worst that year though. That honor goes to the Austrian entry, that we saw a clip of earlier in this documentary. As a matter of fact, I think your null-pointers are better than the overrated 5th-placers "Alle mine tanker" and "Hold on, be strong".

I think that if Malta came in that top ten, then Norway definitely should have, because even up to that point, they had technically done better.

I was really routing for Chiara in 2005, but looking back Elena was a deserving winner. I'm worried that her 2009 entry is not a strong enough song, but we'll see.
