I was just going to ask that it was out of here. I know I guess it was your father that owned them. I can’t tell you every time I listen to that song and watch them. It’s just it doesn’t make you cry spectacular absolutely your father was a brilliant man absolutely brilliant all the money he put into that, very sad sad it’s all gone away now. Yeah those are the days. I never missed one of them not one of them your father’s gone. I didn’t know was your father but I know MAN and revere owned them. God bless him.

Back in the when I was in Drum Corps we carried our tympani and mallet instruments. The music and the drill was exciting. Now drum corps are wimpy ballerina shows.

I have been a big fan up the 27th Lancers since their Inception today is September 28th 2024. Foreman member of the Long Island sunrises, 1964 through 1968 Brooklyn New York 1960 1961 snare drummer this video brings back great memories❤❤❤❤

Was it the Lancers who pioneered the double silks? That's what I remember, and the visual effect was always so stunning.

This rifle line, along with the Guardsmen, was the all time best at "dead stops". And they both did it with those hideous tall "Beefeater" hats.

Yes sir, military style period is awesome. The guard was always awesome.

I remember the 27th Lancers all too well. They were the most musical corp in the 1980 ‘s and this particular year my hope was they would be DCI Champions. If only the 27th Lancers could return it would be awesome.

3:42. Amazing suicide toss in the color guard, and the videographer missed most of it. Alas.

Amazing contra solo, but the soprano gets all the video love. The life of a low brass player sucks.

Where EVERYONE is color guard....only in the Lancers. That suicide rifle toss from the horns....very risky. Reminds of The Silent Drill Team of the U.S. Marine Corps at Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C.

I think that every drum corpe in the world has played crown imperial. I used to belong to the basildon blue eagles and have played it . I was in the horn line playing contra bass .

I've always loved those double flags. If I'm not mistaken, 27th pioneered the double flag.

Ah....Back in the day when marching, music, and precision really meant something. These days, it's all about "choreography". No precision in guard work at all.

Were there REALLY 27 snares on that field. Did DCI relax the number limits? I'm seeing a lot more than 126 on this field.

I totally and absolutely LOVE the guard take off at the beginning of this show. DM marching forward and the silks doing their crossover. This may very well be the best guard work ever....period. And I'll fight you on this.

Good show, but I'm not a fan of the mid-80s curve-linear drill design. (Please understand...I was a Texas HS band director at the time, and was tasked with writing such drills....I still didn't like it, but it was the trend of the day.). And the guard work just wasn't the same as around 1980. This was always a low budget corps. I suppose their demise was inevitable. A shame really....they were always one of my favorites. Saw them live in Birmingham and I was totally enthralled with the overall show...especially the guard work.
@LyleFrancisDelp5 ай бұрын
Alas...we didn't get to see the guard at the end of the drum feature. That's always the best part.

Guard just doesn't do it this well any more. They're all about dancing and prancing....never concerned with precision. This is the epitome of color guard work.
