@@louisfudale8419 I was able to tell listen to Drumline What drum corps was playing ,also when I would listen to the horn line I know exactly what drum and bugle Corps was playing, and I can do this when they're practicing outside the stadium far away I've been involved with drum and bugle course, since I was 9 years .old I am now 78 years old . former snare drummer, played in olph 1950s through 1959, 60 + 61 Floyd Bennett golden eagles, 64 through 68 Long Island sunrises. one of the founders of American Spirit in Tampa Bay Florida, along with John Dowling , may he rest in peace. and Mike Johnson early 90s

Lots of marking time and standing still. Their drills got much more imaginative quite quickly after this. Excellent musical show, and a fat horn sound. I memorized every note of this from the album. Don't get me started on those amazing snare drums.

Yes, I much prefer the fatter sound of the older snare drums. Todays are way too high-pitched for my taste. As a matter of fact, I liked everything about older drum corps stuff much more than I do now, but there's no denying that talent is talent, no matter which era is being considered.

I was there the 1st year of DCI, and what a show by all, Blue Star got skanked and should have won, but hey, that was almost 40 years ago! Thanks for posting this, I knew this video existed somewhere

First Drum corps record I bought was 1971 World Open with the Cadets ,Blue Rock,Boston Crusaders and 27th. Great arrangements with Blue Rock high drums and 27th high horns.

At around 05:30 you van see the field judges walking behind the hornline, looking at heel angles (45 degrees) and giving some "tic's" ...

Would like to see a list of the tunes. I think I recognize Wee MacGregor as the opener? Then to Irish Washerwoman. Then to what?

I became a Lancer fan in 1971 after listening to a recording of the 71 world open. I just remember how clean and powerful the hornline was. first saw them at 72 us.open. to me they were always the best and Jim wedge was the best arranger.
