I am not a gamer at at all. I used Macs for a decade, and then went back to Windows in late 2020, no regrets at all. I had good reasons why I switched back: Apple's laptops along with their other devices are usually insanely overpriced. Also, many of Apple's accessories, such as their Airpods, their keyboards for their iPads, etc., are also even more obscenely overpriced. Many times their accessories are not as good as the competition, are not as reliable, and don't hold up as well with long-term use. Also, people seem to forget that for a few years, starting in 2015, Macbooks had some serious issues, starting with that butterfly keyboard crap, and the issues continued for several years. I know we are talking a decade ago, but many people were screwed over by Apple, when their crappy customer support dragged their feet when it came to helping customers who had serious issues with their laptops. Gotta love the name Genius Bar (more appropriately called the Grifter Bar) which is where the Crapple associates try to convince you to just buy a new laptop instead of Apple standing by their customers and fixing the defective laptop, or replacing it with a new unit when they should follow this protocol. The other reason is Word and Excel work much better on Windows versus a Mac. As your title mentioned "What am I doing?" You're moving forward with a better solution that works for you, and I did the same.

Yeah it should! Just double check the thread size... I can't remember if it comes with the exact size or not. You may need an adapter ring which you can find on Amazon. It'd still be cheaper than the alternatives.

Well to be fair you CAN use the Sony app to record and set the composition etc... BUT it eats the battery while the phone is on and sometimes you still need hands on the camera. I like shooting with a wide lens and shooting within arms reach of the camera personally. Other people might have different workflows though.

I'm on marketplace right now looking at this lens vs the Tamron 17-70 version. Leaning towards the 17-70 version more because of the VR (or whatever their image stabilization is called). I saw one for a new-ish condition for 875. After watching your review though, I might have to heavily consider this one. I see some go for 700 with a year usage (Signs of usage, no damage,). Is it worth it or look for lower? Thanks and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Well it depends on your goals and use... honestly I don't really use this lens very often, only when I need a really wide shot. With that being said, I do exclusively video. If I did more photography having the extra reach of the 17-70 would be fun. I would say if you are doing it for photography, the more versatile focal range would be nice... for video, you'll most likely shoot video (if it's for KZbin) in which case saving money is always nice.

I went over this tutorial multiple times. I can't get the tracker to analyze the object I'm highlighting. It has a green screen element that just isn't catching. I tried changing color channels, luma channels, alpha, and I still cant' get it to run.

Absolutely! That is my lens of choice for doing KZbin stuff anyway. It's all I use! To be honest though it's a bit of a tight shot for the car... This was the one time I busted out my Tamron 17 to 28... For everything else outside of the car though the 24 mm is chef's kiss!

I did! It works great. I did a softbox comparison with little softboxes.... the Aperture one IS better but costs a lot more. It might be worth it if you make money from live streaming. If it's just for fun then save the money and get the Neewer.

This video is my exact pain right now. I bought both the Desview T3 and Slide Gear. Pros and cons exactly as shared in this video. And I also have the Canon RP EOS with the same issue with the motor on the auto-focus 35 mm zoom. Ugh. The shot is too tight so it looks like swapping the camera is the only option? Looks like all auto-focus in on the lens body for Canon??

Hehe aww man! That's crazy you've gone through the exact same thing. Yeah you might be able to find some more expensive lenses that have the motors built right in. I'm not sure what the 24mm looks like on Canon or if they even offer a 20mm.... this was one of many reasons why I ended up switching back to Sony though. You CAN make it work... if you get creative though... maybe use something like this: www.came-tv.com/products/came-tv-52mm-lens-adapter and just sit the teleprompter in front of your lens instead of on it... does that make sense?

Yeah! It's more about the lens you use... as long as it has a compatible thread size (which most lenses do) you can put this teleprompter on anything.

I'm gonna leave these two comments here for anyone who finds this video as useful as I did but encounters the problem I did. 1. I tried the "Parrot" teleprompter app and the equally free "Elegant" app. The latter is superior in every respect, even the occasional ad notwithstanding (ad doesn't happen mid content, just before). Plus it has 4.5 star reviews vs the Parrots 3.0. 2. Most important for anyone who is using a Sony ZV E10, with the kit/out of the box 40.5mm lens. This teleprompter does NOT have an adapter that goes that small. So that right there is a non starter. My hack has been to use another tripod to hold it, until I have the money and expertise to purchase a different lens that will let me use the adapters that come with this. Hope someone finds this useful.

That's great, thanks for sharing! IF you have camera or lens that does not fit you can also use an adapter like this: amzn.to/40eD0Tn (or just find the adapter that DOES fit your lens (Search Amazon for: step up ring adapter). I had the Zv-E1 and was able to just slide the camera into the teleprompter with that Came-TV slider and it worked great.

Yeah I hear you. Hopefully you can find one that you like. I've found a fast workflow with the app and am able to get the size/speed/color that works for me.

Did I miss out on what video graphic card you're using right now on this monitor. I'm on the edge picking up a 4k monitor, think 32inch, but gaming is perhaps not my strong issue. Still I would like to know if a regular Nvidia 3080 can handle 4k. I sadly heard it struggles on some games. I just retired and miss my 4k monitor from work. Of course that one never got to see any hard gaming, but now I have time and if I can ride with a 3080, 10gb graphic card I'm in the market for a 32inch 4k monitor. This looks great and I will compare it with Gigabyte M32U.

Yo! I have a 4070 Super TI and games look awesome on this monitor! It's ripped up every game I've thrown at it (CyberPunk / Path of Exile 2, etc). Tough call with the 3080. It'll make the older and more indie games looks great in 4k (Rocket League, Deep Rock Galactic etc) but with the newer stuff... I just don't know. I think either monitors are sufficient it's more about what deals you can get at the time which would determine which one I'd get. You planning on playing any certain games?!

@@thesahdstudio No special at this moment. Just retired former photo journalist so guess still going to mess with lots of photo editing. Might not game on those massive graphic heavy games but might try out some sport games like Madden and NBA 2k. Can always take down graphic stuff on those to make it work, I hope. Getting a 4K is my main focus since it looks stunning.

Mac is just AMAZING. But I do have an iPad, iPhone and AirPods. My MBP is a workhorse. I don’t play games. So I don’t have gaming issues.

60 FPS makes everything look too real - you can spot the CGI SO easily when you put your TV on smoothing. Which is why I keep the TV smoothing off, because the lower (worse?) smoothing makes the movies so much better, especially the parts where the CGI happens. With 60 FPS you really feel the set is right behind you and they are in a studio, with 24fps, that goes away and you feel like you're in a different world.

This monitor sucks. I experienced TWO STUCK PIXELS in less than 140 hours of use: A red and green stuck pixel. The red stuck pixel went away, but the green one is still there although it's much smaller. Life's not good. Life's GARBAGE.

Hmmm, so you will have a 2nd phone to use for reading the script off of? Honestly since I've never shot with my phone (since I use it to read from) I don't know the answer. However, most of these teleprompters come with a phone mounting kit. You might just have to Google or ask ChatGPT that one! Hope you figure out a solution that works.

No offense but its been 2 years and you only at 4.5k subs. Seems 4k is a very very very little part of growing a channel. Also didn't discuss if you wanted to back up your own videos. The amount of storage difference is huge. Plus all extra time sending larger files from camera to a computer and time uploading it.

I think I noticed you’re using it for sony full frame 50mm 1.4 G master (I have the same one). Is it not too far away for it? Because in the video you mentioned 50mm is too far.

I use the 24mm F1.4 as I find that the sweet spot for how far I like to sit away from my camera (full-frame). Yeah 50mm would be way too tight! Even 35mm is too tight of a shot for me personally.

I didn't like Windows 11. There were little things it did with the start menu that I just don't like. I like being able to read what's open, not have tiny icons for open apps and couldn't do that with Win 11. That reason alone I switched back. I like 10.

I will say that using dynamic active “stabe” isn’t very good when you’re rotating or turning. The footage just looks… weird. It’s great for walking straight lines!

I had a lot of time with the Sony a6400 and while you are right, the FX30 is WAY better, it wasn't out yet when I made this video so had to speculate based on the information I had at the time. I think people who KNOW what they are doing can make the FX30 look incredible, even in low light. However I think full-frame cameras are a lot more forgiving when using and can easily make footage look better where with the Fx30 you need to have more skills.

got a free MacBook Air 2017. love how seamless and smooth it is! windows and android guy all my life too. my MacBook is good enough for older game emulation so its my day to day and emulator. I do consoles for games just cuz they are optimized to play very well even if they aren't the newest bestest specs of the very expensive desk and laptops. great video!

That's rad that an 8 year old laptop is still fine for your daily needs. There's no denying MacBooks are quality devices. I miss having a MacBook to be honest. It just worked well. It wasn't perfect but I enjoyed using it. I need to get another laptop and I'm torn on what to get. I'd RATHER have two of the same devices but it's hard to settle for anything than Apple quality when it comes to a laptop. You playing anything fun on your console lately?

Thanks! You are right in that it creates a giant hurdle when it comes to production. I choose to shoot in 4k60 for my main videos and... I've had to change how I record and edit because of it. Camera's get HOT shooting 4k60!
